Work Text:
Adam awoke to another violent coughing fit. His stomach ached and his throat was raw from the days without end of these random violent coughing fits.
Illness. All Adam understood about illness was that it was painful and scary. As part of their punishment for disobeying God by eating that stupid apple, they would get random bouts of vomiting, coughing, chills, or both.
He gagged as he threw up blood and bile. His body burned, his head pounded, and he shivered no matter how long he laid in front of the fire. Why did he have to eat that apple?
His coughing and vomiting caused Eve and Cain to shoot up in alarm. They immediately rushed to Adam’s side.
Eve cradled Adam’s weak form in her arms.
“Adam!?” “Dad!?”
Adam heard their voices calling out for him. He had been sick before but this time was different. He felt so much weaker and distant, he also felt strangely calm. His wife and son’s voices drew him back to reality.
“Adam? What’s wrong? Are you sick again?”
Adam coughed some more as he nuzzled into his wife’s chest. “Yeah, I think I am. I shouldn’t have drank that water.” He tried to joke to lighten the mood but Eve and Cain’s faces still remained distraught.
He coughed even more. He felt very sleepy, but also very calm. What was happening to him?
Eve gently rubbed Adam’s hand. He gripped onto her hand and lightly rubbed his thumb across her palm.
Eve burst into tears “I’m sorry…I’m so sorry..” she sobbed
“I’m sorry I ate that apple. I’m sorry I allowed myself to be tricked like such an idiot. This is all my fault-“
“Eve…” Adam tried to interrupt his wife’s self destructive rant but to no avail.
“No! This is all my fault Adam. All this! Is my fault! This pain we feel, this sickness, this evil, it’s all me.”
Adam mustered all the final energy he had left to speak
“Eve. It’s okay. You were an innocent person who was taken advantage of, you didn’t know. We all had a role to play for this to happen. It’s not all your” Adam violently coughed and threw up on the floor, causing Eve to sob even harder.
He took her hand and gently held it to his chest. “We all made mistakes, you, me, Lucifer, everybody. I’m happy I got to live my life with you, I love you.” He reached up to cup her cheek in his hand. She smiled sadly at him.
Adam coughed some more. He turns his head towards Cain’s distraught face.
“I’m sorry you and your brother had to grow up on this poisoned Earth…I still love ya, buddy.” Adam coughed again.
Cain’s lip quivered as he couldn’t find the words or strength to speak. He just fell near his dads lap and bawled.
Adam knew this was probably his last few moments on earth. It’s like the animals he hunted, or Abel…dead. He learned what death was after his first hunt, and he also learned it can happen to humans when Able was killed on accident by his brother.
Adam was scared to die. He didn’t want to die. He had so much he wanted to say, to Eve, to Cain, to Lucifer, and even to Lilith.
Adam laid in his wife’s lap as his vision was suddenly filled with a bright gold and white light. Pure light. Angelic light.
“ADAM!?!?!” “DAD!?!” He heard their voices, but it was so distant. He felt his body moving upwards, like he was been carried, but he couldn’t see anything.
Death.
No.
No.
He couldn’t die. No.
Cain was only 12 years old! He still needed a father to guide him! Eve needed her husband! Could she even hunt, could she provide for Cain all by herself?! Seth was only 2! Eve, Cain, Seth, they needed him! He couldn’t fail them like this. He couldn’t handle another failure. He couldn’t be a failure…again.
He failed them. He failed his wife, he failed his sons, and he failed God. He was a failure. Maybe the angels summoned him so they could kill him off personally.
His eyes fluttered open.
Peace. He felt peaceful.
His aching, broken body no longer hurt. His pounding head no longer felt like it was going to explode. He felt younger.
He was laying on something extremely soft. He looked to see he was resting on a puffy white cloud. It felt like Eve’s hair.
He turned his gaze upon a massive golden wall surrounded by puffy clouds with a bright bluish-yellow sky. Golden rings surrounding the realm he was in.
It was Heaven. So this is where the angels resided?
Adam suddenly felt aware of other presences. He looked up to find multiple beings floating above him. Some angels recognized, and some he didn’t.
The angels began to sing a soul-moving chant that brought the already overwhelmed and confused Adam to tears. As they sang he felt something protrude out of his back, but it wasn’t painful.
He looked behind himself to find a beautiful pair of golden wings that were now attached to him.
He looked back up at the angels, Sera, who he already knew floated down to greet him.
“Hello, Adam.” She softly said. “It’s been awhile, hasn’t it?”
“Sera..” Adam said with awe.
She smiled at him. “Welcome to heaven, Adam. Your choices in life earned you a place among the kingdom of eternal bliss and light. You are blessed to be here, first man of Earth.”
Adam couldn’t move or talk. He felt and thought so many things all at once that his mind wouldn’t slow down. His thoughts raced at a million miles per hour trying to recall the last 15 minutes.
Sera, immediately noticing Adam’s overwhelmed state, floated closer to the man. She gestured for the other angels to give the first man some space. She knelt down in front of the frozen man and gave him a gentle hug.
Her warmth made Adam’s mind slow down and his heart calm. He took in her soft scent of pure angelic goodness and let himself melt into the hug.
“I understand this must be very overwhelming for you, Adam. Your life on Earth was full of fear and put you in a constant state of survival. Nothing shall hurt you here, for you are safe in Heaven.”
Adam just sadly nodded. He craned his neck to look at the extremely tall angel. “What will happen to my family?” He asked with a slight hint of fear.
Sera paused and thought for a moment. “They will continue to live on Earth, and should they live a life of good, you will be reunited.”
Sera, still sensing the man’s unease continued “So let us pray to The Lord that your family lives a virtuous and holy life.”
Adam closed his eyes and prayed with all his might that he would one day be reunited with his family. One day.
“As I said, welcome to paradise, Adam. Shall we go for a tour?” Sera asked.
Adam nodded and reached up to grab her hand. The two were joined by the rest of the angels as they ventured out to show Adam his new home.
“Saint Peter, please open the gates.”
Saint Peter nodded as he opened the pure golden gates. An angelic chant sounded as the gate doors swung open.
Saint Peter smiled “Welcome to Heaven, Adam!”
Adam gave him a wave with his free hand as he walked past the golden barrier. He had never met Saint Peter before, he had only heard his name mentioned. He seemed nice.
As the group ventured on to a massive city he could see countless angels walking or flying by. They all stopped to watch the first man.
Sera smiled and addressed the crowd “All, let me introduce you to the first human man, Adam. He earned his place to join us in paradise. Please welcome him with open arms.”
Most of the angels immediately greeted the man with waves and cheers.
Adam was never used to this sort of attention. At least thirty angels were all simultaneously expressing their greetings. He shyly waved back to the crowd.
He noticed one angel however just observed him with narrowed eyes and folded arms. This angel looked like Lucifer.
“Lucifer?” Adam called to the angel.
The angels eyes widened before narrowing again. “Sera, I think Adam needs his eyes checked. He thinks I’m Lucifer?! We look nothing alike!” The angel spat.
Sera narrowed her eyes at the angel. “Enough, Michael. Don’t jest Adam, he’s still adjusting. Also you and Lucifer look alike, you’re twins.”
Micheal opened his mouth to respond before scoffing. He locked eyes with the new man before floating a few feet in front of the man.
Adam had never met Archangel Michael before. He had only heard him mentioned from Lucifer and sometimes God. According to Lucifer he was “a real jackass”. Adam didn’t like the feeling he got from Michael. He felt judged.
“So you’re the first man, huh?” Michael raised his eyebrow “You don’t look like much.”
“Enough, Michael!” Said Sera.
What did he mean by that? Was Adam not good enough? Was something wrong with him? Adam REALLY didn’t like Michael now.
Michael looked Adam up and down before shrugging.
“Eh, I'm bored now. Welcome to paradise first man, try not to eat too many apples here, yeah?” He said that last sentence with a smug smirk.
Sera opened her mouth to lecture Michael, but before she could get a single word out Michael had already shot off into the sky.
Sera shook her head and turned to look down towards Adam. “Pay him no mind, Adam.”
The rest of the crowd of angels looked uncomfortable by Michael’s insults. They gave Adam sympathetic looks before returning about their business.
It had been about three hundred years since Adam’s death and ascension into heaven, and so far he’s enjoyed his time in paradise.
There was plenty of food to eat, fresh meats, fruits, vegetables, and plenty of wine. Oh yeah, a LOT of wine. Adam was a very happy man.
Adam spent his time going for walks, flights, or eating delicious food. He loved the beautiful parks of heaven with their crystal clear lakes and lush forests. It reminded him of Eden, but better and less artificial.
Eden. Eve.
His family still weighed heavily on his mind. He still felt immense guilt for dying and leaving them behind. He prayed to God every night that he would have mercy upon Adam’s family.
Adam would often go for flights to clear his mind. His new wings were simply badass. He always looked up at birds when he was on Earth and wondered what it would be like to fly. Now he knew. His wings were powerful, one good swoop and he could launch five hundred feet into the air! He loved to take in paradise from above.
He wished Eve could’ve been up here with him…
Adam also met a young Seraphim named Emily. She was the sweetest thing in Heaven. She was so curious about everything. She also loved giving Adam hugs which he would often need whenever he got into a funk over his family. She was a great listener and friend to Adam.
She would let Adam vent his frustrations and anger over his lost family. She wouldn’t judge him or make fun of him. She would never make him feel weak when he cried. Her laugh also was contagious. One laughing fit from either of them would result in a good solid ten or fifteen minutes of uninterrupted laughing.
Emily reminded Adam of a younger, innocent, and more naive Eve. He missed his wife.
Why did Lucifer do this to her? Sure Adam can understand why Lucifer didn’t like him, but why Eve? Eve didn’t have a dog in their fight.
Something started to boil in Adam’s chest when he thought of Eve now. Anger. Hate. Lots of it, but not towards Eve, but Lucifer.
—exactly a century later—-
“Adam?” Asked Emily innocently
“Yes, Em?”
“Are you okay?” She took note of the man’s clenched fists and slightly furrowed brows.
The two were sitting in a park chatting away when Adam all of the sudden became very sullen and moody. He got like this whenever something reminded him of Eve and his family back on Earth. This time it had been a duck swimming in the lake, reminding the first man of his former friend, Lucifer. It reminded him of what Lucifer did to his family.
It had been a few hundred years since Adam came to paradise. His family never joined him, and the realization of that fact broke him.
“I’m just peachy, Em.”
“Adam, I can tell you’re lying…”
Adam rolled his eyes. There was no fooling Emily. When she wanted to bring joy, you better believe there was no force in Heaven, Earth, or Hell that would stop her.
He took a sharp breath and his face scrunched up in anger “I hate him, Emily. I hate that motherfucker so much.”
Adam continued his rant in frustration.
“That slimy bastard ruined Eden and poisoned mankind! Because of HIM-” Adam yelled a lot louder than he meant too “I’ll never see her again!”
Emily put a gentle hand on Adam’s arm. She didn’t say anything, she just offered support for the first man.
“Why did he do that to her, Em? She didn’t deserve that…she didn’t deserve that punishment at all…” Adam looked out towards the lake.
Emily nodded and patted his arm.
“Sorry for yelling, Emily. I just, I just…I don’t know. I feel like he got off scott free and never faced any real punishment. He gets to rule over his own kingdom, I mean what kind of punishment is that!?”
“I know Addy, I know.”
Adam took a deep breath. He didn’t want to always have these mood swings. He didn’t want to put more baggage on Emily. “Sorry again Em. I-“
“It’s okay, Addy. I’m here to bring souls joy, remember?”
Adam desperately thought of a new topic to discuss. “How are the other humans doing in heaven? I haven’t got to chat with them.”
Only a few hundred humans had earned their spots in paradise. After four hundred years since Adam was the first human in paradise, only a few hundred humans said a lot about the state of Earth. It was shitty to say the least.
Emily beamed at remembering the new humans “Oh they’re wonderful! They’re such sweet people!”
Adam wanted to meet a few of them, and maybe ask how life on Earth was from their perspective. Maybe he could figure what was going so wrong on Earth.
——exactly two centuries later——-
The council was in chaos.
Hell was getting extremely powerful, extremely quickly.
Adam was in the middle of the chaotic meeting trying to make sense of what he had heard.
His former wife, Lilith, was apparently gathering sinners and uniting them with a plan to overthrow heaven. That slimy bitch Lucifer was definitely enabling her as well. Adam felt that hot rage start to build up inside him.
Sera was currently trying to get everyone under control.
“People! People, please!”
The yelling and frantic panic continued.
“SILENCE IN THE COURT!” Sera yelled, erupting in flames.
Everyone quieted down at her outburst.
Sera took a small breath to regain her composure. “As I was trying to say, we cannot act irrationally and bring needles strife between our realms. With a demon uprising-“
The court filled with loud disapproval of sera’s statement
“High Seraphim! We cannot standby while Hell is potentially planning an invasion of Heaven! Our people and our way of life is compromised! The demonic threat is no longer something we can ignore! How is that irrational?! An angel interrupted.
“Yeah! The demonic threat could be lurking in heaven right now! They could be disguised as angels!-“
“ENOUGH! Do not make up fables that will spark panic among heaven! This must be handled rationally or all of us will face war!” Sera yelled, attempting to regain control of the court.
Adam knew Lucifer and Lilith would try something like this. Lucifer and his prideful, arrogant self always had to have the final word. If that meant bringing heaven and hell to war, then so be it according to Lucifer. Adam knew that heaven faced a real threat.
Adam’s mind was filled with the tormented faces of Eve, Cain, Abel, and all the other sinners who had fallen victim to the evil that Lucifer had created. He remembered the stories of winners who had endured unspeakably horrific things by sinners.
He remembered comforting a young five year old girl who had arrived in heaven after her father did beyond evil things to her and her mother. Adam’s chest burned even hotter with rage.
Adam had been chatting with Saint Peter when it happened. Golden light shot up alerting the two that a soul had arrived in heaven.
Saint Peter and Adam prepared to welcome the new winner when an ear splitting shriek and cry pierced the air.
It was a child.
A child who’s mortal life hadn’t even begun had already ended so prematurely.
Adam’s fatherly instinct kicked in.
He rushed towards the crying child and scooped her up.
The child sobbed even harder and pressed her now feline-like head into Adam’s chest. In a babbling young voice she explained how her very own father would regularly beat her and her mother. One day her father punched her too hard and broke her neck.
The little girl cried for her mother who wasn’t with her.
Adam held the little girl until Emily arrived to take the child.
Saint Peter watched with horror as the girl explained the details of her short mortal life.
“It’s okay sweetheart. It's okay. Nobody’s going to hurt you here.” Adam said softly.
Emily had just landed beside Adam. Patiently waiting for Adam to finish comforting the child.
He rocked the girl back and forth before handing her over to Emily.
“This is Emily. She’s a good friend of mine! She’s super nice.”
The little girl took Emily’s hand as Adam whispered what had happened in Emily’s ear.
Emily’s face contorted with horror and disgust at the poor girl's story.
As Saint Peter watched Emily carefully guide the child away, Adam turned around with the most rage induced face Saint Peter had ever seen on a person.
Saint Peter quickly learned Adam was terrifying when he was angry.
After that incident, Adam swore he would never let a winner be harmed by a sinner ever again. His first home was destroyed by evil and sin, and as long as he had breath in his lungs, he would never let his second home be touched by evil.
“High Seraphim, what’s the plan?! What are we going to do?” An angel exclaimed
“Everyone just hold on!-“
“I have an idea.” Adam said with determination
Everyone turned to look at the first man.
“Oh, ya hear that everyone? The first man had an idea. This will be good! You have the floor.” Michael laughed
Adam glared at Michael before continuing “These sinners had their chance and failed. If they think they can uprise and harm our home, then they are gravely mistaken.”
“Get on with it first man! Boooooo!” Michael chided
“Silence, Michael. Now.” Sera warned
Michael made a face before gesturing to Adam to continue.
“Let’s purge them.”
Silence. The entire court became eerily silent. Sera and Michael’s mouths were hanging open.
“Sorry, care to repeat that, Adam?” Michae asked genuinely confused
“I said let’s purge them.” Adam stated coldly. “They had their chance. They are failures of creation and unworthy souls. Let’s kill them.”
Still eerie silence.
Adam continued “Let’s strike fear into the hearts of these worthless…demons” Adam said ‘demons’ with disgust in his voice
“Let’s have an annual purge. We’ll kill a few thousand of them and return to heaven. It will frighten them from trying any type of uprising.”
Sera’s mouth was still wide open. Michael chimed in with a large smile
“Well no fuckin’ shit.” Michael laughed “the first man has a spine! For once first man, I think you actually have a good idea.”
Michael laughed again. “A purge to control the population and bring fear into the hearts of demons and my bitch-ass brother. That’s fucking genius, I’m kinda pissed I didn’t think of that.”
Sera finally responded. “Adam, killing is wrong!-“
“They’re demons” Adam cut her off “they deserve all of our wrath and more.”
Sera looked around to find that the entire court was in agreement with Adam’s idea.
“The first man is correct! The demons deserve this fate!”
“Yeah! Get them before they get us!”
“I agree with Adam!”
The court erupted in cheers.
Adam let a smug smile come to his lips. “Sera, I volunteer to lead this purge.”
Sera’s lips pulled into a thin line. She nodded, understanding she was outnumbered “Very well, Adam. This decision stays within this courtroom, the rest of Heaven will remain ignorant to this endeavor. Adam, you will need an army.”
Adam nodded while raising his hand “Sure can do Sera, I’ll keep it a secret. Also, I have an idea for an army.”
Adam turned his gaze to Michael. “Michael, how many of your soldiers do you have in reserve?”
Michael smirked “quite a few, first man. Quite a few indeed.”
“Then it’s settled. We have a plan, and an army.”
Sera nodded solemnly. “I guess it is settled then…”
————-
Somewhere on the outskirts of Heaven
“Ladies, I’m Adam. The first human male. You are gathered with me today because our home and way of life is under a very real and very dangerous threat. We are going to end that bullshit, right here and right now. This extermination is an important endeavor for the protection of heaven and your families.”
The all female army consisting of women with silver or white hair, golden or purple eyes gathered in formation as Adam addressed them.
“The demonic threat has overstepped its bounds, they seem to have forgotten who has the power here. I expect you all to give the demons a reminder.”
“YES SIR!” The army shouted in unison.
The army was organized into three squads of 15 soldiers each. With a sergeant leading their own squad, while a singular lieutenant commanded all three squads.
“You!” Adam pointed to the lieutenant. She had pure white hair and golden eyes. She looked and radiated pure badassery. “You are going to be my second in command.”
“Sir!” Said the woman.
Adam walked to inspect his new lieutenant.
“I’m going to call you Lute from now on, got it?”
“Yes sir!”
“Lute, I want to inspect your sergeants.”
“Right away sir!” Lute looked over her shoulder ALL SERGEANTS, FRONT AND CENTER.”
The three sergeants marched towards Adam and Lute.
“Sir,” said Lute, “these are sergeants Crystal, Juniper, and Vagatha.”
“Sir!” The three sergeants shouted in unison.
Adam nodded. “Well then, Crystal, Juniper, and Vagatha. Your only goal for this extermination is to protect your soldiers and fuck some demon ass up.”
The three sergeants all had slight smiles crack on their lips. “Yes sir!”
“Alright ladies,” Adam said addressing the entire army. He put on a helmet that projected his facial expressions in LED form. It was a black, yellow, and silver helmet with large horns protruding out the back. He did a crossed arm devil horn pose. “Let’s fuck some shit up!”
“YES SIR!”
A loud crack and pop filled the air. The exorcists looked up to see a massive yellow portal opened in the sky.
Adam took in a deep breath and mustered centuries worth of hate and anger. “ATTAAAAAACK!!!” He pointed at the portal.
The exorcists all screamed their war cries as they took off towards the portal.
Adam quickly followed, being the lead in the formation of the exorcists. A sadistic smile made its way to the LED mask. He was going to enjoy every second of this.
——————-
Lucifer watched his kingdom from his palace with bored expression. He had his cheek resting in his hand as he looked out towards the city.
A distant battle could be heard with screams and yelling. Just another day in this shithole.
Oh Lucifer would give anything to change time back. He fucked up royally, he knew that. He wished he would’ve done so many things differently.
He didn’t want any of this. He didn’t want his family to hate him, he didn’t want Earth to be poisoned, and he didn’t want the poor humans to suffer. He just wanted to give the first two humans free will…he wanted to give his wife free will…
He was pulled from his thoughts when a massive yellow portal opened in the sky.
Heaven.
What could heaven possibly want now?!
He grew even more confused when a bunch of Michael’s soldiers rushed out of the portal followed by a very tall angel in a black robe. They all worse freaky masks. Weird.
He grew even more confused when the soldiers started diving into the city, with the larger angel shooting pure angelic light.
Were they attacking hell!?
Lucifer immediately jumped up and sprouted his wings before taking off to confront these angels.
“Hey! Hey! HEY!” Lucifer yelled while waving his arms frantically.
The large angel with a black robe came down to meet him.
“WHAT ARE YOU GUYS DOING!?” Lucifer yelled with confusion
“Purging ya, what does it look like?” The large angel snarked
“Why?!”
“Because you thought your ass could attack heaven, didn’t you ya prideful asshole?!”
Wait. Lucifer recognized that voice. It was strangely familiar even with the mask.
“Do I know you?” Lucifer asked puzzled
“You used to.” The angel snapped
Lucifer thought about who that angel could be? Wait. Wait a fucking second. No way.
“A-Adam!?” Lucifer exclaimed
“Surprise bitch!” Adam said while making the rock n roll devil horns.
“Why are you doing this Adam?!”
“Like I said, you and Lilith thought you could overthrow heaven? Well I’m here to put a stop to that bullshit.”
“What? We aren’t trying to overthrow heaven!-“
Adam interrupted Lucifer with pure hate.
“Yes the fuck you were. You just couldn’t stand the fact that maybe, just fucking maybe you were in the wrong? You just had to prove your point even if that meant bringing war to heaven’s doorstep.”
“Adam! I didn’t want to bring war!-“
Adam interrupted again with even more rage.
“Stop lying to me you fucking bastard. You’re a piece of actual fucking shit.”
Lucifer stared dumbfounded at Adam’s new personality. He wasn’t an innocent, curious man. He was so angry…
“Adam! Seriously! I’m not trying to start a war!-“
Adam yet again interrupted Lucifer. “I don’t give a shit if you were starting one or not. I’ll make you suffer personally after what you did to Eve.” Adam spat
Lucifer recoiled at that. The hurt him deeper then Adam could imagine. “Adam I didn’t mean for this to happen! I didn’t mean for Eve to get hurt!”
“Yeah fucking right. Because of YOU!” Adam jabbed a finger into Lucifer’s chest “I’ve been alone for hundreds of years! Because of YOU! Eve suffered!”
Lucifer watched his once-friend be consumed by rage.
“Because of you my son died…”
Lucifer’s eyes widened. Only from Eve personally did he hear about what happened on Earth. He felt immense guilt every day after he heard the story.
“Adam, I’m sorry. I really fucking am! I never wanted for you or anybody to be hurt, Eve told me about Abel-“
Adam’s mind stopped in its tracks.
“What do you mean Eve told you?”
“When she died she came to hell-“
“Eve’s…in hell?”
“Yeah she is, I’m sorry. I made sure she was protected-“
“You? What?”
“I gave her a place to stay at my palace.”
Adam’s form began to shake with uncontrollable rage. This fucking slimy snake stole Eve from him too.
Adam let out the second most ear piercing, loudest, and most enraged scream that hell had ever heard Lucifer winced from the sound before Adam rocketed foward.
Luicider dodged out of the way of Adam’s attempted punch. He kept dodging as Adam threw punch after punch after punch.
“ADAM! STOP!-“
“SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU PIECE OF FUCKING TRASH!!!”
Adam gathered holy power before blasting a beam of pure light in Lucifer’s direction. Lucifer dodged the beam, but an unlucky building was completely incinerated by the blast.
Adam started blasting light in Lucifer’s general direction, his rage clouding his judgment and aim. He didn’t hit Lucifer, but he hit a lot of buildings and roads.
Off in the distance screams could be heard from the sinners as other angels ripped and tore them until it was done. They sliced, gutted, chopped, hacked, sawed, crushed, and burned every lowlife sinner they came across.
Some of the exorcists could see Adam fighting the king of hell himself. A certain sergeant, Vagatha watched in amazement as her boss fearlessly took on Lucifer.
A crowd of exorcists began to watch the fight
“Fuck him up, Adam!” An exorcist yelled
“Adam! Adam! Adam!” Other exorcists cheered.
Vagatha cheered for Adam as the brutal fight between the two raged on.
Lucifer was focused on tiring the inexperienced Adam out. Adam was unreasonable and not in the right state of mind to have any sort of negotiations.
Lucifer continued dodging Adam’s light before Adam stopped midair.
Adam was breathing heavy and cast a murderous glare in Lucifer’s direction.
“You know what?! Fuck you! Fuck you for everything you did to me and the rest of humanity! Fuck you for manipulating Eve!” Adam spat
“Adam, I know you hate me, but I want you to know I truly am sorry. You didn’t deserve anything that happened to you. I regret everything I did and I don’t want to invade heaven.” Lucifer said with his hand up in surrender
Adam just stared at Lucifer before casting his head down and going off to find his lieutenant. He was emotionally done for the day.
“LUTE?!” Adam yelled over the now destroyed demonic city. God this place was already ugly besides the guts and blood everywhere.
“Right here sir!” Said Lute.
“How much time do we have left?”
Lute checked her holy clock. “We should start heading back now, sir.”
Adam nodded. Get your sergeants and rally back here. I’m opening the portal in five.
“Yes sir!” Lute said as she took off to collect her soldiers.
Adam watched her fly down towards the other exorcists. His heart ached. While he was alone in heaven that slimy bastard was going down on his wife. What was so wrong with Adam what two of his wives left him for the same man?!
Adam’s hate and chest ache great even worse. He hated this place.
Adam and his girls returned from the first extermination. They were greeted by Sera and Michael.
Adam debriefed the two on what happened in Sera’s private office, but he left out his entire confrontation with Lucifer.
In all, the exorcists had killed 3,457 demons. Lute and Vagatha got the highest number of kills, with Lute having 245, and Vagatha having 237. They were both rewarded by Adam with a medal of valor and a fist bump.
After the celebration of the first successful extermination, Adam took all his girls out to eat at a nice restaurant and they all went to Adam’s favorite park while he played them some music that he had been writing in his spare time.
The girls of course loved it, so you know he had to do an encore.
Adam returned to his home after a very long day and looked into the mirror. He was dirty as a pig. He was soaked in sweat, covered in demon blood, and all sorts of other debris was in his robe and helmet.
Adam removed his helmet. His face was soaked in more sweat and he smelled like B.O. and unwashed ass.
He took a much needed shower before getting into his bed. He stared at the ceiling while thinking. Thinking about Eden, Eve, Earth, his girls, Lucifer, Emily, that poor girl he comforted, his sons, and even his music before he drifted off to sleep.
Adam didn’t know exactly why he was created or what his purpose was, but he was damned sure he was going to protect his home with his life. Heaven would be safe as long as Adam had blood in his heart and air in his lungs.
