"Rikuuuu! Open up!" Sora pounded on his best friend's door.
Kairi yawned beside him. "Why five in the morning?"
Sora looked at her and grinned. "Because five is a great time for a race!"
"If you say so..." Kairi adored Sora, but even he could be too much sometimes.
They heard shuffling from inside the house, and the door opened revealing Riku. "Sora, do you know what time it is?"
"The perfect time for a race?"
Riku was awake enough to hit Sora on the head. "No, idiot! It's time for sleeping, which is something you should be doing right now!"
Kairi giggled, and his attention was drawn to her. "Are you going along with his shenanigans?"
"He woke me up too, you know!"
Riku sighed and looked at Sora. "If we race, will you let us go back to sleep?"
"Sure!" Sora headed off to the smaller islands where they usually played.
Kairi started walking after him with Riku following behind her. "How does he have so much optimism, even in the early hours of the morning?"
She shrugged. "Your guess is as good as mine."
"That's good, because I don't have one."
When they got there, Sora was sitting on the papou tree waiting for them. He jumped off the tree. "Ready?"
Riku and Kairi glanced at each other and nodded. Kairi counted down and then said, "Go!"
Riku ran off and Sora followed him with Kairi taking off a few seconds later.
After the race was over, Kairi noticed Sora wasn't with them. "Where is Sora?"
Riku looked around. "I don't know. He might've gotten hurt or something."
Kairi gasped and ran off looking for him. A few minutes later she came back looking pissed. "I found him. Come on."
Riku followed her and she led him to the secret place. There they found Sora sleeping, sitting against the wall. They thought he looked adorable when he was asleep.
"Should we wake him?" Kairi whispered to Riku.
"I don't know about you, but I'd like to go back home and take a nap. A long one." He smiled and Kairi giggled as they left the secret place.
"Bye Riku!" Kairi went to her boat and got in, then glanced back at him. "I can take you home if you want."
"Sure." He got in behind her and she rowed them back home, happy that Sora got what he wanted.
Sort of.
