Work Text:
It was a late evening Michael sat down a fresh bowl of popcorn. Grabbing the remote he turned the TV on, his soap opera was on tonight and he couldn't wait. As the intro started he cracked open a soda on the table next to him. Bring it to his lips his eyes locked to the TV but just as the episode started the channel transferred over to a news broadcast.
"OH COME ON WHAT THE FUCK" he yelled as he spit his drink. Getting up he headed to get a towel.
"Breaking news: tonight a 10-year-old boy gets chased by a person dressed in a yellow Rabbit suit at Jeff's Pizza down ******* street. Kristen is there now."
Walking back to the living room Michael stared at the TV as it showed a woman standing in front of a rusty old pizza place. In the back, you can see the yellow tape as police lights flash behind her.
"Hello, yes from several eyewitnesses and work officials nearby a young boy was seen getting out of the ball pit at Jeff’s Pizza, no one knows how long he was in there, but he got out and was followed by a yellow bunny you said?" The news reporter asked a witness.
"Yes, it was quite a bizarre case, I...I come and work around here every day, and I turned around and saw through the window a young boy covered in blood-fighting for his life with a large bunny?"
"Do you know what happened to this boy?"
"I don't know, I saw someone, an older man rushed in and helped the boy but once the bunny was no longer struggling they both were gone by the time I turned around."
"Did you see what happened to the Bunny?"
"It looked like the two-handled him, as he was hanging from the net but just before you guys got here he was gone"
"You heard it guys you better keep your doors locked and stay safe tonight, as a killer bunny is on the loose, more to come, this is Kristen and that's your breaking news"
As the News was done Michael stood there. "A killer bunny huh," Michael said to himself "Couldn't make it anything original, that's so lame," he said as his show continued. Satisfied he put the remote down, sitting back, putting some popcorn in his mouth. It wasn't until halfway through the episode did the channel cut the episode again to move to the news. "Oh come on, again" Michael complained, glaring at the TV.
"Breaking news the father and son who were said to be in the ball pit incident have been found, Mark on the scene," the news lady said as Michael was reaching for the remote giving up on watching his show.
"Ok Oswald, what happened earlier tonight?"
"Yeah, I was at Jeff's Pizza wanting to pull a prank on my dad. When suddenly there was a large 5-foot Bunny in the pit with me. As I tried to get away, he grabbed my leg and my dad had to come in and beat the Bunny."
Michael was intrigued a little and decided to listen.
" Many witnesses said the bunny didn't seem of this time Would you say the same?"
"Yeah, I would. He... it was as if he time traveled through the pit coming from... I don't know 1950-the 1970s"
"Do you believe this ball pit was a passageway through time?"
"I honestly don't know"
As Mark asked the question the photo of the bunny, attacking the family was shown on the left. Looking at it Michael knew he'd seen it before. Looking back in his chair he saw the photo his dad put on the wall. It was of Henry and him dressed in their first Fred Bear costumes, one of the yellow bunny, the other of Henry dressed in the costume holding the head in his hand. The Bunny suit looked very similar to the one shown on TV.
"Fuck" he said as he grabbed the remote turning off the TV.
William Afton has been missing for a few weeks now, not coming home, nor was he at work. Michael for the least was glad his father was gone as he was an abusive son of bitch, but the bills that were quickly stacking up was something Michael couldn't handle with the money he gets for his five or so night jobs. Not to mention what he heard from Henry was that his father was connected to the missing children's case. Standing up he hurried through the house, grabbing his phone, his wallet, and the keys to his car. Quickly he turned the lights off. Getting in his car Michael drove around town until he found it. The old first-ever Freddy Fazbear pizza in the old parts of town. As he looked at the building with yellow tape all around it Michael had to admit the place looked better as Freddy's instead of an empty pizza place.
Parking his car Michael looked around making sure there were no cops or workers nearby, which there weren't as it was already 1 am. Getting out of his car Michael walked over to Jeff's Pizza. Pushing the tape away Michael entered the pizza place. Looking around he saw a few tables and chairs, spread through the room, with a lot of open space remaining. On the further side of the place, he saw the old ball pit. Thinking back to the news report people said they saw the victim and the Perpetrators come from within. Taking a deep breath Michael made his way over, jumping into the ball pit that smelled of blood. He soon heard the sound of children playing. Going back up he saw he was back in 1987. It was just like the kid said in the interview stepping out of the ball pit Michael watched as a lot of children ran by, talking about going to go watch the show, or something like that. As Michael got a glimpse of the bright neon lights and the music of Freddy’s, he was hit with nostalgia.
Walking around he saw so many familiar faces, it felt like he was reliving a day lost in his past. As he walked through the rows of arcade games he heard a familiar voice, Jeremy Fritzgerald.
“My god can she be so annoying,” Jeremy said
“She is” Anissa agreed
“That right didn't she pull you to the hall earlier today” Jeremy laughed as he hit Wilson's arm.
“Yeah because I whistled when she bent down,” Wilson claimed.
“Ew wilsons in love with Mrs, Anthony” Jeremy claimed
“Shut up” Wilson yelled
“You guys are so gross” Anissa commented.
Michael peaked around the arcade game and saw his friend group, standing around one of the games, Dragon Quest 2. Michael remembered this day. It was Evan's birthday, this was the day Evan was going to die.
“GOD FUCKING DAMMIT AGAIN” he heard his younger self yell as he kicked the machine.
“You should just face it your shit,” Wilson said.
“Go suck a dick,” he said back.
“What it’s true,” Wilson said, putting his hands up in defense.
Just then the sound of a voice rang out from the speakers. “Party room 1, the show is about to begin, party room 1” Michael's eyes opened wide.
‘Evans about to die’ He told himself. Quickly he made his way through the pizzeria. He Checked the bathroom, under the tables, the arcade, and even the back staff rooms only to not find the dame kid. Heading back to the party room, Michael saw the place was mainly empty, with just some young kids, looking to be 4 or 5 sitting at the tables eating, watching the show. Now noticing this made Michael feel bad. It wasn't until he saw them. His past self and friends, holding Evan up, as they walked over to the stage.
‘Shit’ Michael thought as he made his way through the room. “Hey put that kid down” Michael tried to stop them.
“Get lost old fart,” Wilson said as he waved Michael off.
“I SAID PUT HIM DOWN,” Michael asked one more time.
“What is it to you, he's my brother, it's fine,” his younger self said as he struggled to keep a hold of Evan who was kicking and screaming.
Knowing his younger self wouldn't give up, as they were now standing in front of the stage. “You're going to kill him, stop it,” Michael said, hoping to get them to stop and realize what they were doing wrong.
“yeah, yeah whatever,” Jeremy said as they began to lift Evan. As Michael watched, his body began to get covered in sweat, was he going to watch his brother die again?
Suddenly Michael punched his younger self in the face, getting him to drop Evan.
“WHAT THE HELL MAN” Wilson yelled as he too let go of Evan who fell to the floor.
“Oh shut up Wilson you're a pussy anyways,” Michael said as he picked up Evan.
“What did you say to my friend?” Jeremy said as they watched Michael walk away with Evan.
“Thank you for saving me,” Evan said as he looked at Michael.
“No problem pipsqueak,” Michael said as he put Evan down, allowing him to whip away his tears.
But then he heard something, something he didn't remember happening.
“Dad, that man just punched me.” He heard his younger self yell.
He didn't remember his father being anywhere near here. Turning around he saw the yellow bunny, the one from the news. Now stared at him with emotionless eyes, covered in blood, with a knife in his hand.
“What the fuck” Michael said as he stared at the bunny.
“Augh” Evan let out a small cry, as he noticed the bunny, which scared him.
“I had my reasons man,” Michael said, hoping his father would understand.
But he was met with silence. He watched as the bunny made careful steps closer to him, starting slow, before breaking out into a full sprint. taking a few steps back he noticed the bunny wasn't looking at him, he was looking at Evan. Letting out a breath Michael realized he wasn't going to be killed, his father was coming to check on Evan. but as he watched the bunny get close to the kid he noticed the bunny beginning to raise his knife. The bunny wasn't going to check on Evan, HE WAS GOING TO KILL HIM.
Thinking fast Michael tackled Evan to the floor, dodging the knife that stabbed into the seat the kid once sat in. The sound of a kid screaming filled the pizzeria. Watching as the bunny tried to pull the knife out, Michael used the time to get to his feet, with Evan in his arms. Running he looked back at the bunny that now had its knife free and watched them, making their way closer.
Running through the pizzeria Michael made his way back to the ballpit. Diving in with Evan in his arms. It wasn't until the smell of blood was prominent did Michael rise again seeing he was back in Jeff’s pizza. Carefully he got out of the ballpit putting Evan down, who looked around in aw. Looking him over Michael saw there was no harm done to the kid. Letting out a sigh Michael got to his feet, gidding Evan out and into the car, before driving away, so they don't end up like the last kid.
“Where have you taken me?” Evan asked as he looked out the window.
“Um… you in the year 20**” Michael said as he focused on the road.
“How?” Evan asked.
“It's a long story”
“Oh”
The car was silent as they made their way back home. As they pulled up to the house Michael turned the car off looking at Evan who stared at the house. Opening his door Michael made his way out, Evan following.
“Is this your house mister?” Evan asked as he went up the steps.
“Y…yeah it is”
“It looks just like mine,” Evan said as he opened the door.
“Hey, Evan?” Micheal said, getting Evan's attention. “It's good to have you back”
