You’d always liked the rain. It was a special thing for you. Hearing the thunder was beautiful, and you loved the feeling of wet raindrops on your skin.
The first time you’d asked Monika to make it rain for you inside of the game, she’d seemed puzzled. Apparently she’d always thought that the best way to make a winning impression was to have beautiful, clear skies. “That’s better, right?” she’d said. “So we could have picnics, or go swimming, or hiking, or so many other things.”
You’d pleaded with her until she relented. The sound of the rain put you instantly at ease. It was so calming, and felt like being back at home. But Monika seemed a little nervous about her date plans being disturbed.
“Come on, Monika,” you said. “Let me show you what you can do in the rain.” You grabbed her by the hand and took her to the school’s front door. There were no classes, or any other students for that matter, but it was the place where you’d met, so you spent a lot of time there for sentimental reasons. Before you could open the door, Monika conjured up an umbrella and extended it to you. Laughing, you pulled her right out of the door, letting the umbrella clatter to the ground.
She’d gasped, surprised at your actions, then at the sudden soak of water. Wet strands of hair clung to her face very attractively. “You really want to be out in this?” she asked, raising her voice over the sound of the water falling. “When I could make it be sunny instead?”
You couldn’t help but giggle. You stepped over and grabbed her face, pulling her in for a brief kiss. Her face quickly flushed, and you laughed even more. “What are you talking about?” you said. “It’s so much fun out here!”
Monika humored you by splashing around in puddles and getting absolutely soaked to the skin. You were pretty sure she got into it too after a while. There was just something so freeing about being out in the rain.
There would be plenty of sunny days to come, but it was nice to be able to show Monika something that was new and exciting for her. That was honestly the best part of the whole rainy day.
