See you Tonight

Summary:

A very unique coupling and a phone call that changes the course of things.

Notes:

Yes, I know, this is different. This isn’t a couple I want to see in the show, but I love playing around with unique couples and this came to mind. I may add more and I may not just depending on if anyone would ever read it. I’m not an author and the mistakes are all mine.

Work Text:

The loud screech of the phone woke him from a deep sleep, he should be used to it by now, but it never made it easier. Hearing the groan from the woman beside him as he rolled over to find the offending object in the sea of clothes on the bedroom floor.

“Make it stop.” He heard the woman grumble as she buried herself deeper into the comforter. Isobel was used to getting up early, but today she just wanted to lose herself in the warmth of Omar Zidan.

Isobel Castille had never thought of herself as a rule follower, but she never thought she’d break another rule as big as this one, She was sleeping with a subordinate, but it happened so fast. She hadn’t even seen it coming, but that was five months ago and she was too far in to quit now. She hadn’t slept by herself since he weaseled his way into her life.

“Zidan.” He answered groggily as he sat up, the sheet covering his naked lap as he listened to the shocked voice on the other end. He could feel Isobel’s hand softly rubbing his back in her sleepy state, but he could tell she was half listening.

“OA?” Jubal’s gruff voice sounded confused on the other line. “What are you doing with Isobel’s phone?”

OA’s heart dropped as he took the phone away from his ear for a moment to look at it, sure enough in his sleepy state he had mistaken Isobel’s phone for his own. This was one thing he didn’t know how to back track on, he could lie, but the lie wouldn’t make sense. He had to go ahead and tell Jubal the truth and they’d have to face his judgment later.

“Yeah, I thought it was mine.” He confessed. “She’s right here, I’ll tell her we’re both needed.” He could now feel Isobel's eyes on him, he turned to see her deer caught in the headlights look as he finished his conversation with Jubal, hanging the phone up, he looked over at the brunette and sighed softly. “We’re needed.” He started “And Jubal knows about us.” He finished as he crawled out of bed, the sheet falling off of his lap.

Isobel took a moment to digest the news, it wasn’t like they had to answer to him, but they both still respected his opinion and they had hoped to keep their, whatever it was, to themselves until they figured it out, but now with this faux pas, they were forced to come out sooner rather than later, but right now that wasn’t their concern. They needed to get to their respective job sites and behave like Jubal hadn’t heard a thing.

Once dressed and heading out of Isobel’s home, OA grabbed her hand as they stood on the front porch, he could tell in her body language that she was anxious, even though she tried to stay stoic, he had been able to pinpoint her emotions pretty easily since they started this thing between them.

Isobel turned and looked up at the man as he spoke. “It’s going to be okay.” He promised. “We got this, we go at our own speed, like you’ve always said, and I’m right here with you.” He pulled the petite woman into his arms and Isobel settled her head against his chest, wrapping her arms around his waist, and in that moment, her anxiety slowed down and her breathing became normal, with OA there with her she knew it would be okay.

The younger man dipped his head down to press a kiss against her lips, his hands resting on her hips as they stood there. “I’ll see you tonight.” His statement sounded more like a question and she found herself nodding. “You have a key.” She whispered softly watching his face light up as she turned to leave. The last thing she felt was his hand playfully swatting her bottom as she headed toward the subway listening to the engine of the SUV come to life. He always offered to drive her the two blocks to the subway, but she enjoyed the walk to clear her mind.
