Work Text:
Streber was sitting at its desk when it heard the door of the bedroom next to his slam closed. A large thud soon followed, which it assumed was Ethan throwing their bag onto the floor.
Uh-oh. That didn’t sound good.
It turned back to its laptop and shut it off before standing up. Its room was connected to Ethan’s via their closets, which sounded inconvenient and annoying but Streber rather liked it! The whole thing meant it could easily visit Ethan, and meant it could do what it was currently doing.
The closet was small and simple, two doors on either side with hangers along the walls. Streber’s clothes hung up on the left and Ethan’s on the right (along with the hoodies that were carelessly thrown on the floor because, Ethan was going to take them anyway, why put them away?). He walked through the closet, which he could do in maybe only.. 5 steps? Whatever, it didn’t matter. What mattered was what he opened the other door to.
Ethan was lying on their stomach atop their bed, sobbing into pillows. Before Streber could even ask, they heard him push open the door. Damn thing, it always creaked when someone opened it.
“Go away, Streber.”
Streber let out a tiny hum and sat down on the edge of their bed regardless. It knew Ethan well enough to know to ignore that order. They glared at it as it sat down, curling further into themselves. “I don’t want to talk about it..” They mumbled, their voice barely even audible as they tried to keep it steady.
“I’m not asking you to,”
“You were gonna..”
“I wasn’t,”
Silence.
“You want a hug?”
Ethan stayed silent but rolled onto their side a bit, so Streber scooted closer to them and hugged them best it could, which— was a bit hard given how Ethan was lying. Streber’s arms wrapped around their torso, gently shifting them so they were lying on their back instead and resting his head on their shoulder.
Eventually, Ethan hugged back. They silently cried into his shirt and grasped at the fabric. Streber stayed silent and simply rubbed their back soothingly.
Once they were calm, it spoke quietly.
“Do you want to go watch a movie?”
Ethan just let out a noise of conformation.
“Okay.” Streber pulled away a bit to sit up. “Do you wanna get the others?”
They shook their head.
“Let’s go then!” Streber picked Ethan up, holding them bridal-style.
”Do you have to carry me?”
“Mhm! C’mon princess, let’s go cuddle.”
