Chapter Text
Athena was sitting in her underwear on the edge of their bed, holding a jar of her favorite lotion. It had a very deep, rich scent of shea butter and she couldn’t get enough of the smooth feeling it left on her skin. She liked to lather herself after every shower, both to have a moment for herself but also to keep her skin from drying out.
She heard her husband's voice coming closer and closer to the bedroom door, along with the pitter patter of their daughter’s feet. A few seconds later the door opened and it revealed the both of them with matching smiles on their faces.
Zuri was wearing a lavender colored jumper with ruffles along the shoulders, making her look like she belonged in ‘Little House On The Prairie’. Bobby put on one of his tan colored shorts with a blue polo and he looked good enough to eat, something Athena filed away for later that day. Maybe they got lucky and Zuri would take one of her two hour naps after lunch.
“Coffee, mama!” Zuri’s tiny voice cut through the room and she bounced right up to her mother, Bobby trailing after her with a steaming cup in his hands.
“Thank you, baby.” Athena pressed her lips to her wild curls before she lifted her face so her husband could give her a proper good morning kiss, having left the bed before Athena woke up. Between their busy work schedule and having a two-year-old, they rarely woke up together anymore. There was always something or someone needing them to leave the warm sheets before the other woke up.
Bobby enjoyed watching Athena’s post shower routine and not just because of her attire. It was almost hypnotic, seeing her going through every step. Athena got him to have more of a skincare routine ever since they started dating, because before meeting her Bobby only used soap and water to clean his face after a long day. It did the trick, but wouldn’t do much in the long run. Athena liked to joke his skin wouldn’t be as forgiving as hers when they got older.
The smell wafting from her skin when she just applied her body lotion was enough to put Bobby in a trance. Sometimes he got lucky and he was able to get her back to bed when she was done with the lotion so he could touch her soft skin and kiss her right in her neck where the smell would be the strongest.
“Zuzu too?” The 2-year-old looked expectantly at Athena with one of her hands stretched out towards the bottle. Zuri saw her mother do this daily and she was super intrigued with the ritual. The toddler even had her own lotion for her skin after she got a shower. It was one of the only moments she would sit perfectly still and let one of her parents rub the sweet smelling lotion into her skin. She enjoyed the one-on-one time with them, having all of their attention directed to her.
But Zuri really wanted some of her mothers’ now, because the toddler wanted everything Athena touched these days and it smelled differently than her own lotion. Bobby lifted her onto the bed next to Athena and walked around the bed to sit down on his own side to watch them. The family of three had a slow morning and he wasn’t ready to leave his two girls yet to do some chores. He rather watched this moment between mother and daughter, enjoying every minute he got to be close to them.
“Okay, baby. Be careful and don’t get it on the bed.” Athena told her daughter who was looking at her with a serious face. She took one of Zuri’s tiny hands in hers and put the small dollop of cream into her palm. The consistency of the lotion wasn’t watery at all, but Athena was sure the toddler still could get it on the sheets somehow.
The toddler held one of her arms out and started slathering it onto her skin with the most focused face Athena had ever seen on her. Sitting beside her, Athena finished her own lotioning and she got up to put on her clothes. With her leaving, Bobby army crawled to her side of the bed so he could catch Zuri if she started to move and potentially fall off the bed.
Zuri was still wiping away at her skin with a serious face, not noticing her dad creeping up on her until she felt his hair tickling her skin.
“Silly daddy.” Zuri giggled and turned away from his face so she could finish her task.
Athena slipped a dress over her head and put in some earrings before she went back to her nightstand and took a big sip of her coffee. Hm, just the way she liked it. She smiled at her husband who was inching his head towards their daughter again, trying to distract her.
Cradling her mug in her hands, Athena walked over to stand next to the both of them. One of her hands went to Bobby’s head, softly touching the strands on top. It was enough to divert his attention from Zuri back to her and he pushed his face into the fabric around her thighs. Athena laughed softly at his antics, which caused Zuri to look up. The two-year-old scrambled to her feet on the bed and climbed up on her father’s back.
“Horsey, daddy. Horsey!” Zuri giggled, putting her hands on his shoulder. Athena heard him groan into her dress before Bobby put his hands beneath his body and pushed himself up. The toddler started to laugh even harder when they rose up and she squeezed her chubby legs to his waist, preventing her from falling backwards.
Athena smiled at their antics, sipping her coffee and scratching Bobby’s head. “You are a silly silly man, Bobby Nash.” Her tone was filled with so much affection for this man, making it difficult for her to breathe. Especially when he was doting on their daughter.
She bent over and pressed her lips against his, smiling while doing so. Athena really couldn't help herself from kissing her man. “Mama, no kissy!” Zuri’s voice was enough to break them apart and just stare at each other before Athena put her cup back on her nightstand.
“I love you. Let’s have a tea party today, I heard you look pretty good in a princess crown.” Athena teased her husband with a smile and a wink before she reached out to Zuri, wiggling her fingers at her to entice her to get off Bobby’s back. It didn’t take long for the toddler to go with her mother, getting back to the kitchen to prepare their tea party.
It would turn in another fun-filled free Saturday for their little family.
