Work Text:
The door slammed loud after you. It wasn’t really your intention but anger brewing up all day now was close to boiling over. And the lock in the door was jammed again.
You went straight to your bedroom, throwing your shoes on the way there.
The bed seemed like the perfect place to hide from everyone and everything. You slipped the coat off your shoulders and let it fall to the ground, hiding under the covers.
It wasn’t long before the bleached head peeked inside.
“Darling? Are you okay?” Ken’s voice was gentle, when he came closer to your bed.
“I’m fine Ken. I’m just tired. Just leave me,” you mumbled from your hideout.
But he could hear the tremor in your voice. You weren’t fine.
You’ve heard a click of your door and hugged yourself tighter. This day was nothing but failure. First your car broke just as you came to work. Brakes were stuck and the whole car with them. No one was able to help you, so you had to leave it there, calling for help, letting it be towed.
The rest of the day was just a mix of stress, worry and work.
You had to ask your colleague to take you home, which you hated. You didn’t like to be in someone’s debt. Especially if you couldn’t repay it right away.
Deep in your thoughts, you didn’t even hear Ken coming back.
Mattress next to you dipped and the cover from your head was lifted carefully. Ken looked at you with a smile, showing a mug.
“I’ve made you your favorite tea.”
“Thanks, can you put it on the nightstand?” you asked, turning away from him. His brows furrowed. He couldn’t let his baby be all sad and mushy.
Putting steaming hot mug away, he slipped under the cover, not listening to your protests. He pulled you to him and snuggled you into his big form. He nestled your head under his chin and hugged you tight.
“Ken…” you started, trying to free yourself. But his big, muscled arms held you with force.
“I won’t let go of you until you feel better. And you know I can hug you forever, right? I love to hug you. And kiss you, and make you feel good,” saying that, Ken started to put kisses on your hair, putting his hand under your clothes, resting it on your stomach.
You closed your eyes and sighed with shaky breath. It was pointless to even try to fight with this man. You let your body melt with his, putting your hand on top of his, entwining your fingers.
Finally, ready to face Ken, you turned (with some struggle) around in his arms and he put his big hand on your face, cupping all your side in it.
“Hey there,” he whispered, kissing the tip of your nose.
“Hi.” Your voice was hoarse and you felt on the brink of tears.
Ken had to see it because he quickly leaned and kissed both of your eyelids, peppering your cheeks with feather-light touches. He kissed your lips, lingering there until you finally hugged him back.
You pulled out when you were close to fainting from lack of oxygen.
Seeing your smile made Ken's heart swell. He always wanted you to smile. And he felt proud of himself he could make you do it. You snuggled into him, already feeling better.
