Staying mad at Taehyung for longer than twenty four hours is next to impossible.
Namjoon either answers Taehyung’s phone call on the first ring or he responds to his “ i’m sorry” messages too quickly.
No matter what they fought over or what made him angry, it’s easy for Namjoon to give in each time. Underneath the rough and cold exterior that’s driven everyone away, Namjoon is actually soft and warm to the core.
The only person who’s bulldozed their way through each layer, is Taehyung. So it’s hard for Namjoon not to get all mushy when Taehyung knows exactly what to do to unravel him.
Their romance hasn’t been perfect.
Sometimes things happen and it points out they might not be compatible.
Most of the time, Namjoon is certain that no one other than Taehyung is right for him. The thought of Taehyung not being in his life makes his chest ache.
The twenty two hours that have passed since they last spoke to each other have been more than painful.
This is the longest Namjoon has gone without him. It’s not entirely pathetic that he keeps staring at his phone and hasn’t moved from the sofa in the last three hours waiting for Taehyung to contact him.
It’s annoying. This is annoying. Taehyung is annoying.
He knows the code to Namjoon’s apartment. If he wanted to, he already would’ve barged right in and Namjoon would’ve let him. They could’ve made up already. This is taking too long.
Namjoon huffs as he lets his body sink into the cushions. He looks up at the ceiling and it crosses his mind that he might’ve been too harsh last night.
It was a silly argument. The week was too long and Namjoon just wasn’t in the mood to put up with Taehyung’s antics. Before walking out of Taehyung’s front door, Namjoon took one last look behind him and didn’t like what his eyes caught.
The person he loves slumping their shoulders and tearing up.
Namjoon sets his phone down on the kitchen counter and pours himself a glass of water. He gulps it down too fast.
It hurts.
He’s thirsty but not enough to swallow his pride. That won’t satisfy anything for anyone.
9:00 pm is late but too early to call it a night.
Namjoon crosses his arms and looks to the side. Two more hours is nothing. He can last through them. A day or two without each other might be good for them.
The cell phone starts ringing and Namjoon nearly stumbles over his feet to answer it.
The pounding in his chest slows down when he sees Min Yoongi’s name on the screen.
He considers not answering but Min Yoongi never calls him unless it’s important.
Namjoon swipes the screen and brings the phone to his ear.
“Come and get your puppy.” Yoongi sharply says before Namjoon can say anything.
“I had no right to be mad and tell him not to see you anymore! I was jealous and I shouldn't be! You’re his best friend!” Taehyung is crying and drunkenly shouting somewhere in the background.
Namjoon pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs the irritation out of his body. He’s mushed right up.
“Send me your location.” He says before hanging up.
“Who are you?” Taehyung asks once Namjoon has gotten him in clean clothes and under the bedsheets. It was a hassle dragging him out of the restaurant. On top of being drunk, he kept crying and clinging to Namjoon. There was no way he could get home on his own.
Despite all of the trouble, Namjoon can’t be mad. Taehyung is too adorable.
“I’m Kim Namjoon.”
Taehyung opens his eyes, just a bit, and rubs his face against the pillow. “The love of my life is also named Kim Namjoon.”
Namjoon smiles and fights off the urge to laugh.
Taehyung opens his eyes again and smiles. “You’re handsome just like he is.”
This is really annoying. It’s already 11:00 pm. Twenty four hours since their fight.
Namjoon couldn’t last. His heart feels better this way. He can’t help himself.
“Do you wanna break up with him and be with me instead?” He’d steal Taehyung away if he had too.
“No.” Taehyung shakes his head. “I only love Kim Namjoon. My Kim Namjoon is the one for me.”
Namjoon laughs as silently as he can. It only takes a few seconds but it’s enough for Taehyung to drift off to sleep. His cheeks are flushed and his bangs messily fall over his eyes.
Namjoon gently sweeps the hair out of his face. With a cute forehead exposed, it’s only reasonable for Namjoon to lean in and kiss it.
“I only love you too. You’re the only one for me.” Namjoon says and it feels a bit meaningless because the other is asleep.
Taehyung must’ve been really hurt.
He can’t stay mad at Taehyung for long.
Namjoon promises to be twice as good to him from now on.
