Work Text:
Langa and Reki were at the skatepark for another ‘skate date’. Both were showing off their new tricks to each other and Langa was surely fascinated by Reki’s tricks, much to the latter’s incomprehension. They didn’t need to talk to show their love, their skating dance was enough for that, to declare their love.
They were going out for a few months now but Reki still didn’t get how enamored Langa was to him, his self-esteem issues were still plaguing him at times. But it was so flattering, to have someone loving him so much. Reki could feel butterflies in his stomach at this thought.
“Oops!” Reki yelped as he almost fell out of his reverie.
“Are you okay?” Langa asked, interrupting himself when he saw Reki tripping on his board.
“I’m okay. I was a bit unfocused there, haha” Reki laughed.
Falling while skating wasn’t anything new to both teenagers, falling was a core part of the sport, in fact.
“Ostie de câlisse, ça fait mal !”
Reki looked at Langa after hearing his swearing, only to find him on the concrete, holding his scratched and bleeding left elbow.
“Are you ok?! I’m going to take the first-aid kit in my bag, wait here!”
Langa nodded and Reki understood he was replying to both sentences. Reki came back fast with the kit and disinfected Langa’s wound before applying the bandage on it.
“Are you hurt anywhere else?”
“No.” Langa shook his head.
“Let’s rest a bit, anyway.” Reki said.
Reki and Langa looked at the sunset.
“I didn’t quite catch what you said earlier?” Reki asked.
“Hm?” Langa inquired.
“Whatever you screamed when you fell. I think I heard something like hm. Ostie? Calisse?” Reki struggled to repeat the words he had heard earlier.
Langa blushed.
“Oh my bad. It’s… nothing.”
Reki laughed.
“Why are you so embarrassed? Did you insult me or something?” He joked.
“No! I wouldn’t do that! It’s… embarrassing.”
Reki taped on Langa’s back.
“It can’t be that bad!” He reassured.
Langa looked on his side for a few seconds before speaking.
“It was swearing… In French.” Langa said, still embarrassed.
“You speak French?! I knew your dad was Canadian but I thought you were speaking English?!” Reki said, impressed.
“We lived in Québec for some time, where they speak French, when my dad was still alive. But his family is from different Canadian regions, some speak only English, some a bit of French. My dad wasn’t great with French and mostly spoke English, actually. I only learned it for school.” Langa explained.
“Oh! You can’t only speak English but also French! Amazing! Amazing!” Reki cheered intensely.
“It isn’t that much… Plus I lost it quite a bit, the french.”
Reki still looked at Langa with stars in his eyes.
“Would you teach me French? I’m sure you are still good with it!” Reki pleaded.
“I… I don’t think I would be that good-”
“Please!”
Reki used his strongest weapon on Langa, his very cute little pout.
“Ok. Let’s do that” Langa finally. complied with a soft smile to his boyfriend. But he took this note in his mind: he wasn’t going to teach Reki any flirting phrases. Or Langa would probably faint right there if Reki spoke them out.
