Who’s the clingy one now?

Summary:

But then your heart goes to your throat, and you freeze because your room’s door opens suddenly, Soap appears with a bright grin.

“Wake up sleepy heads!”, he exclaims, in the worst American accent you have ever heard.

He freezes when he gets sight of the two of you in bed.

Or:

Soap catches Roach and you sharing a bed.

Work Text:

The faint sound of rain brings you back to life.

Your soul slowly returns to your body and when you open your eyes, the room is darker than you remembered.

How much time you have been sleeping?

It was supposed to be a nap at three PM so you could feel better before dinner, but now you think that you missed dinner time and with it, the sense of time too.

After looking at the darkness around you in the room, something in front of you slightly moves and you freeze for a second, until you recognize the warmth against your body.

When you look, the room is clear enough to allow you to recognize that you didn’t take the nap alone.

And then it all drawn on you.

Roach stayed to keep you company and you fell asleep and now your body was all around his.

Your arms were around his middle, your face had been buried in his back and you had been getting high on his nice smell. He was snoring, still sleeping, drooling over the pillow. He looked fairly comfortable and softer than you expected, but then again, he always looked softer when he was not holding a gun or frowning at you from the other side of the battlefield.

You slowly considered your options, since you were sure that you weren’t going to be able to go back to sleep. You were grateful for the nap, but you think that people may be looking for you (or both of you) and if they found you in the same place and the current position…a lot of things would be thought and the last thing you needed was gossip.

You slowly and carefully started to detach yourself and you probably would have been successful if Roach’s hand hadn’t grabbed your arm when you were on your way off.

You stopped, panicking for a moment, but when you looked at him, his eyes were still closed, and he was still sleeping.

You didn’t move for a few seconds, trying to see if he did anything else, but when he didn’t you decided to try again and detach yourself from him.

He didn’t let you move because he was holding your arms way too tight, almost like he did sometimes when he wanted to keep you close.

Your heart skipped a beat and you tried again several times, but when he didn’t let you go, you sighed. You were going to pull yourself then, not caring if you woke him up or not when he unexpectedly rolled over.

And yes, you always prided yourself in your good reflexes, but he was faster, and you didn’t have time to react. Next thing you know, your back is pushed against the bed, and he is over you, like a warm blanket.

He settles his head on your shoulder, gets comfortable over you and then went back to sleep like this was a common occurrence.

You didn’t speak until he nuzzled your neck.

(Honestly, you were slightly distracted by the tingles growing all over your body at how close his lips were to your neck).

“W-what are you doing?”, you asked, the left side of your brain still processing what happened while the right was short-circuiting.

He doesn’t answer, of course, he simply makes himself more comfortable while you think you explode.

He is warm, too warm, and his body literally over yours, is not helping at all.

You stay in silence, looking at the ceiling, trying to compose yourself, listening to the rain falling outside, trying to understand that it was a dream or a nightmare.

His even breathing turning slow, didn’t help, even less when you unconsciously moved your hand to fall in his sandy hair. It was soft, softer than you expected and for a moment, he let go a long sigh, so you started running your fingers through his hair.

In any case, it didn’t help to make you feel less on fire, but as time passed, sleepiness got a hold of you again and eventually you passed out, arms around him.

When you wake up again, someone is yelling outside, and it takes you more than normal to realize that morning has come.

You open your eyes and look around, slightly panicked when the sun blinds you because the curtains aren’t rolled.

You curse, moving blindly around until you can get used to the light. When your eyes finally get used to said light, something behind you moves and when you look over your shoulder, Roach is curled on your back, arm lazily wrapped around you. He groans, annoyed trying to hide himself on your back, hand sneaking under your shirt.

His fingers make contact with your bare skin and for a moment you forget where you were and why you were panicking.

Then you heard someone slamming a door and you were brought to reality in a second.

“We need to get up”, you say, voice husky and tired and sleepy as fuck.

He groans behind you again before raising his head slightly to look around with just one eye barely open.

He doesn’t say anything, and his inspection just last five seconds tops. You try to get out of bed, but he is as fast as before and grabs you by the shirt, stopping you effectively.

“God, you are clingy”, you say and when you look at him again, he gets his tongue out before returning to the bed.

You shake your face, chuckling sarcastically.

But then your heart goes to your throat, and you freeze because your room’s door opens suddenly, Soap appears with a bright grin.

“Wake up sleepy heads!”, he exclaims, in the worst American accent you have ever heard.

He freezes when he gets sight of the two of you in bed.

And then there is the longest silence you have ever heard.

It's just the three of you looking at each other.

And well, in theory, there was nothing to be ashamed of because you weren’t doing anything bad, you just fell asleep together, you were clothed and whatever you did in your room was your business as long as it didn’t affect your work, so no, Soap shouldn’t be looking at you like that, and even less after a few seconds where he changed his surprise to amusement. Almost like he knew something you didn’t.

“Ah, so here is where ya have been all night”, he said with a smirk, and you frowned at him for a moment.

“What does that mean?”

He chuckles.

“Nothing. Get ready, we have a drill in ten and a briefing afterward”.

Roach and you groan in unison and is top comedy for Soap. His laugh is heard while he turns to exit and even in the hallway after he closes the door.

“I hate it here”, you say, laying back in the bed. Roach makes a sound before you feel him move away, finally letting you go.

But then, when he is about to leave the bed at all, you open your eyes and stretch your hand in time to catch a corner of his shirt.

He stops, looking at you with a question in your eyes.

“How about we get in trouble together?”

He stares at you with sleepy eyes for a few seconds. His hair is a mess, and the sun is shining over him and for a second you want to take a picture to keep the sight forever somewhere, but instead, you decided to tattoo it in your mind and pretend it won’t help you to fall asleep in the future.

His hand moves in the air, telling you something.

“Who’s the clingy one now?”

And before you can respond, he is jumping over you in bed again.

Several laughs escape you and when he chuckles, you feel like an idiot in a romance movie.

If the two of you end up getting scolded by Price a few hours later for skipping morning drills with the most stupid excuse in existence, you think it was worth it.
