Chapter 1: Celestial Headcanons

Chapter Text

After the Colossals sacrificed themselves, the Celestials were devastated to have lost their mentors, their creators and semi-parental figures. But the monster world needed help healing from the Cataclysm, and it was up to the Celestials alone to take on that duty, as they were now the most powerful beings in the world. Galvana, who had previously been using the secret workshop on Ethereal Island to create the Wubboxes, moved their experiments elsewhere and continued them, deciding to repurpose the Wubboxes as power generators to assist the Colossals in their new physical bodies. The rest of them focused their energies on assisting all of the surviving monsters and trying to repair any damage done to the environment. After many months of work, the Celestials had a big gathering together and things returned to normal (somewhat).

In the present day, the Celestials all live in a castle together on Celestial island. Furnoss, Torrt and Syncopite’s rooms are on the bottom floor, Hornacle, Blasoom, Vhamp, Scaratar, Loodvigg, Plixie, Galvana and Glaishur’s rooms are on the second floor, and Attmoz’s is on the top floor.

When Starhenge fell the event was witnessed by many. A few of the more curious monsters went over to investigate as soon as the dust had settled, and for about a day anyone was free to visit the island as they pleased, that is, until the statues were discovered. The statues, unlike anything else on the island, were completely intact and somewhat new-looking, with only a bit of dust and a few cracks marring them, very unusual. The Seasonals stepped in and took it upon themselves to guard and watch over the newly named Celestial Island, deciding that it would be off limits to the general public until deemed safe. Weekly checkups were then performed on the island. When the reborn Celestials were found, nobody (Besides the Wublin Island Wubboxes, Nivla and Zebby) were told and they were raised in secret for as long as possible.

The Celestials are platonic soulmates, they are inexplicably drawn to each other. Like the 12 months of the year they are tethered together and not meant to part. If one were to die then the monster world would be out of balance, this would also happen to a lesser degree if they were forced apart and had no way to return.

When dormant inside their constellations, the Celestials aren’t sleeping. Within their egg forms exist small pocket dimensions that act as their homes. They can bring objects from the regular world to their pocket dimensions, but other non-Celestial monsters cannot be brought along to visit. These homes are long abandoned, as in their new lives the Celestials don’t know how to access them and probably don’t even remember that they exist.

Upon being reborn the Celestials remembered next to nothing about their previous lives, their memories were wiped and they had become pretty much just normal children. However, very significant or traumatic memories resurface sometimes, usually in the form of dreams.

The Celestials don’t need to eat or drink in order to survive, but they can if they want and it can be beneficial for them. Technically, the only thing that they need is sleep.

Each Celestial can ascend only twice in their entire lifetime, once into an adult and then again into an elder. Without ascension, the Celestials will eventually hit a point where they stop growing physically, mentally and elementally, but ascension allows them to “unlock” the next stage of their life and continue to grow stronger. To sum it up: They age normally before stopping, they ascend, and then start aging normally again. Not as sudden as it is in-game!
