Dabihawks Poetry

Summary:

A series of Poems I’ve wrote that may or may not be about Dabihawks

Chapter 1: Haiku - Wings

Chapter Text

Free birds fly with wings,
Their freedom clipped and buried,
Caged birds bow their head.

Chapter 2: Blues Poem - Flames

Chapter Text

My heart beats out of control in my chest.
It is a ticking bomb ready to be set off.
My heart beats out of control in my chest.
It is a ticking bomb ready to be set off.
My feelings are ready to explode.
My feelings are ready to explode.

His blood drips like a rain cloud.
It’s engraved in my mind.
His blood drips like a rain cloud.
It’s engraved in my mind.
The image forever haunts me.
The image forever haunts me.

I wonder if I haunt you in your sleep, too.
Present in your dreams.
I wonder if I haunt you in your sleep, too.
Present in your dreams.
Am I what you see when you glance at a mirror?
Am I what you see when you glance at a mirror?

I am a glowing star, burning in the night.
When I leave this humanly world, I’m taking you with me.
I am a glowing star, burning in the night.
When I leave this humanly world, I’m taking you with me.

We could’ve avoided this, don’t you think?
We could’ve avoided this, don’t you think?

Chapter 3: Two Word Poem - Wings

Chapter Text

Bright wings,
As white
As angels.
Darkened by
The death
Of those,
Who’ve died.
It’s not,
His fault,
But he’s,
To blame.
He killed,
A friend,
And betrayed,
Their trust.
Bright wings,
As red
As blood.

Chapter 4: Riddle Poem - Flames

Summary:

I wouldn’t consider it a riddle poem but it was complimented so

Chapter Text

Alone on a mountain, forgotten about,
Tears in my eyes, my emotions pouring out.
Sound of my laughter, washed out my cries,
It’s hysterical, I know, but my emotions are on a rise.

My tears are burning, sizzling on my skin,
My cheeks are red, but not ‘cause of the cold,
Flames claw at me, piercing my skin.

The fire grows, burning higher and hotter than ever before,
Consuming me, and the forest, too.
It’s turning the trees to ashes, I fear that’ll be me, soon.

The flames have now crawled up my legs,
Reaching my chest, burning my heart.
My laughter no longer is, the screams are deafening,
My breath’s coming to an end, my lungs consumed by the fire.

I run to the stream, my last chance at a life,
But it’s no use, for my fire has already brought a drought.
I fall to my knees, begging for my saviour,
I fall unconscious, before he comes.

My winged saviour, putting out my fire.

The memory of what happened left my mind,
So when he asks, “Do you remember?”
I don’t have an answer to give the angel guarding my life.

Chapter 5: Ode Poem - Wings

Chapter Text

My worth, my glory, my wings,
You’re all I know, all I own,
I owe you my honour, my love, my life.
Extra muscles, a hollow bone,
They’re the price I pay,
For seating on a throne.

Soft feathers, the reflection of the angels,
They shelter me, Tuning out the war.
A humming bird, in its golden cage,
You’re the key to it, my knight in shining armour.

My worth, my glory, my wings,
Fly me high, and free me in the sky.
The morning sky is my home,
The cloud is my nest, the birds my flock.
The night sky brings me comfort,
Polaris takes my hand, guiding me.

No wings, No glory, No worth,
Without you, I know nothing of this world,
You were all I owned.
You’re the price I paid, as my blood swirled.

Chapter 6: Acrostic Poem - Flames

Chapter Text

Rising from the ashes, I am the phoenix,

Eternally here, eternally haunting,

Beaming through the sky, I shine like a star,

In my memories, a thousand centuries lie,

Repeating the past’s mistakes, it’s what they have done,

Thoughts of reliving them torment me,

However many times I try, I cannot escape it.

Chapter 7: Question Poem - Wings

Notes:

I don’t like this one.

Chapter Text

How’d we end up here?
Why does the end seem so near?

Did I have a choice?
Or did they take my voice?

How can I undo the past?
Why can’t we make it last?

What could I do to save you?
Or do I have to lose you, too?

Chapter 8: Diamond Poem - Flames

Chapter Text

                  Ice
           glacial, frosty,
numbing, piercing, freezing,
   frost, snow, spark, ash,
scorching, blazing, burning,
          volcanic, fiery,
                  Fire

Chapter 9: Limerick Poem - Wings

Chapter Text

There once was an overgrown chicken,
Who tried to court a grumpy kitten,
The cat called him a cannibal,
Because for chicken nuggets he was an animal,
The chicken’s friends flew away to not get eaten.

Chapter 10: Free Verse - Flames

Chapter Text

Everyone longs for the spotlight

They want to shine, matter enough to be seen by an audience

I’m under the spotlight

Dancing around, doing tricks for the crowds as a performing seal

In return, I receive applause

But Applause comes with attention

Unwanted attention

I’m a rare specimen

meant to be poked at for the entrainment of others

The spotlight shines on me as does the sun with the Earth

The Earth gets a break from the light

I do not

Until you came along

The withered flower in a field of blossoms

The dessert beside the forest

You’re the shadow in a room filled with sunlight

Invisible, unwanted

Until the blinding light scares the audience, and they desire to lay in the shade

You stand between me and the spotlight

Casting me in your shadow, and embracing me with it

Chapter 11: Free Verse - Wings

Chapter Text

I was caught in the nets of society at a very young age

Drowning in the deep griefs of poverty, until I grew wings and flied to the heaven of aristocracy

But it was a play

For like a bird put in my golden cage, I was jailed behind the bars of high society

The key to my freedom was a soul

I sold mine long ago

Without it, I was stuck

Destined to die with no one to grieve me

For the familiarities of the high and mighty was a con

They pretend to care when you prove to be valuable, and when you lose your worth, they move forward without a glance spared behind

Leaving us in the dust

You’re different

Your eyes shine with a light so divine

The rest have lost theirs long ago

The price for power we chose to pay

It’s how I know you still have your soul, you protect the sacred thing behind a mask of apathy

But the mask is fragile

Your care and love for the word overflows through its cracks.

It’s the reason you didn’t hesitate to sacrifice it to open my infinite cage of play-pretend

It made me wonder, is that why you protected it so dearly?

Chapter 12: Free Verse - Flames

Summary:

The Black brothers, anyone?

Chapter Text

Children
Bright stars in the night
Each competing to outshine another
Regulus the star shines bright, but is outshined by Sirius
A promising star, wished upon for the prospects of success
For everyone wishes they shined as brightly as Sirius
But the stars in the night don’t shine, they burn
And Sirius, known for its scorching flames, burns hotter than the rest
It destroys all that is dear in the wake of its light
A trail of fire and destruction
Sirius burned, but soon he would burn alone
And with no one to pull him out, soon he shall be consumed in the flames he once shined with
Burnt out

Chapter 13: Free Verse - Finale

Summary:

I won the poetry contest with this one!

Chapter Text

What once was,
No longer is.

It’s not present in my feeble memory how the blossoms that had grown between the two of us withered in the blink of an eye,

There’s too much agony suffocating me for the visions of what we had to flash in my mind,

It dances with my guilt, forming a sword that stabs the place in my chest that was once the garden reserved for the flowers you watered with your words.

What was once the waters that I thrived in, became the ocean that drowned me.

You were the cure to my poisoned heart, but as time passed I grew addicted to your touches, your praises and your soft looks, overdosing on what was meant to save me.

We fit together like red threads, stitching my broken soul back together before you cut the knot.

One second I was swimming with you in the waters of our hope, the next I watched as you soared toward the heaven of our dreams with your newly grown wings,

And as my knees buckled beneath me, you weren’t there to catch me as I fell into the spirals of my mind,

Now there is no hope for me to reach the surface, for how am I expected to stand when I watched as you were shot down from the sky and caged in a prison of your own making?
