Work Text:

Do you need to fall in love?

Is it a requirement? Is it really that important?

To Nayeon it is not, she doesn't give a damn about falling in love, all she cares is that she will become a successful woman and be happy. As long as she can do whatever she wants in her life, it's okay. What is important is, she knows that she loves what she's doing and no one is telling her what to do anymore.

"Congratulations on our new movie project, Nayeon. Is it your fourth movie?"

"Fifth, Dahyun."

Dahyun chuckles as she sits beside her friend slash co-artists, Nayeon. They just finished reading their scripts with their co-artists, and later they will go to another location for a photoshoot.

Being an artist is hard, but for Nayeon, it is her safe place. She's been dreaming of being seen on the big screen, and here she is now, she is known as the best actress in the country.

She's living the dream.

"Do you have plans for tonight?" Nayeon asks.

"Yeah, I have a date with Tzuyu. Why?"

Nayeon shrugs, "I just want to go to the bar tonight. But, I have no one to go with."

Dahyun chuckles, "I thought you didn't need anyone?"

"I didn't say that I need a girlfriend or a boyfriend. I just want a friend to come and join me. I hate you, you're in love now."

Dahyun let out a loud laugh. She remembered that she was like Nayeon before. She doesn't believe in love, and it is just a waste of time. Not until she met Tzuyu was it like her world stopped spinning when she saw Tzuyu two years ago.

"I can't help it, Nayeon. She's the best match for me." Dahyun saw how Nayeon rolled her eyes at her.

"Oh come on, I didn't expect her to come into my life. Maybe that will happen to you, too. It's not like you're going to die like an old maid."

She added.

"Oh, I don't care if I die without a partner. I don't even know the feeling of falling in love. All I know is love is such a pain in the ass. There's a chance that it will ruin my career, too."

"Does it ruin mine?"

Nayeon just looked at Dahyun when she asked that question,

"See? It's just you haven't found the one for you, Nayeon. But if you do, oh, you will be the happiest."

"Whatever, Dubu. I don't want to be in a relationship, and that's final."

—------

It's already eight o'clock in the evening when Nayeon decided to leave work. She got in her car and drove to a cafe that is far away from her home. She just wants to be alone for a while; she wants to calm down after hours of working.

She arrived at a café. The cool air, jazz music, distant building lights, and a crescent moon made it perfect. Nayeon found the best place to rest.

"One Hot Americano, please."

"Is there anything else, ma'am?”

Nayeon shakes her head,

"That will be all, thank you. I will be upstairs."

She paid for the coffee and went upstairs; all the seats were empty, just what she wanted. It looks like the Cafe is not that popular with the tourists because some of them are in the other Cafe that she just walked past.

Minutes passed, and the waiter gave her the coffee.

She took out her phone and sent Sana a text message.

Nayeon:

"Sana, hi. I will not be able to come home tonight."

Sana:

"Hi, baby. Why? But I miss you :("

Nayeon chuckles as she rolls her eyes because of Sana's message. They're just friends, and Sana just wants to call her 'Baby,' but she's dating Jihyo now.

Nayeon:

"I just need my me-time, and I know that your girlfriend is coming over. I don't want to hear you screaming and begging for her name again."

Sana:

"LOL, don't worry. I will scream louder next time."

Nayeon:

"I hate you."

Sana:

"I love you, too. See you tomorrow. ;p"

Nayeon groaned and decided not to reply anymore. Sana likes to tease her, ever since they became friends, the latter hasn't missed the chance to annoy her.

"Hi."

"Who the fu-" She didn't finish the word that she was about to say when she saw the woman who greeted her. The woman is already sitting in the chair that is opposite hers.

"Are you new here?" The woman asks, "I'm Mina."

Great, it's like Nayeon's me-time will be ruined.

"I don't talk to strangers."

"I do."

Nayeon rolls her eyes, making Mina chuckle. The latter sees her ordering a cup of coffee a while ago and finds her attractive. That's why she's here, flirting.

"Do you mind? I'm trying to drink my coffee here. And I want to be alone, so please. Go find another seat."

Mina rests her back on the chair. She doesn't want to leave; she just wants to stay there and admire the beautiful woman in front of her.

"I think I know you."

"Everyone knows me."

Mina laughs, it's not a normal laugh, it was pretty loud that the people from downstairs could hear her.

"Nayeon. Yes, I know you. You're a bad actress. I wonder how you got those awards of yours."

"Excuse me?!"

Nayeon clenches her fist. She's starting to get mad at Mina. She doesn't want anyone to question all of her hard work. She got that award because she worked hard for it, and she knows for herself that she's a great actress.

"What? You can't accept criticism?"

"That award of mine comes from my blood, sweat, and tears. I did everything to get that. It took me years to get into the acting industry, and you're questioning how I got them? How dare you?"

Nayeon's face starts to heat up; she's not blushing, she's just mad.

She just wants to rest, but Mina is not letting her. She didn't even get a chance to drink her coffee.

"That is just my opinion, Nayeon. There's no need to get mad at me. Everyone has different opinions. Some may see you as the best, and some see you as a rookie. I'm the latter."

"And you have the guts to say that to my face, huh?"

Mina chuckles, "Yes, and what are you going to do about it? Tell them to your fans? Go on, I'm not stopping you."

Nayeon glares at her. The woman in front of her is just saying whatever she wants to say to her face. She's not scared or what, she's just saying what she's feeling at the exact moment.

"And you are not a great kisser, I saw your intimate scenes.. You called that a kiss?"

Nayeon scoffs. She closes her eyes and breathes three times, trying to make herself calm. While Mina is just enjoying what she's seeing right now.

When Nayeon opened her eyes, she took a sip of her coffee before talking again.

"What do you know about kissing? You look like someone who hasn't been in a relationship."

Mina chuckles and licks her lower lip; she's having fun now. She didn't expect Nayeon to answer her. Mina had a lot of flings before; she knows what she's talking about.

"Say that again."

Nayeon smirks; she feels that Mina is starting to get mad at her. Just like what she wants to happen.

"Again, what do you know about kissing, Mina? You look like someone who hasn't been in a relatio-"

Mina cut her off by grabbing her neck and pulling her closer as their lips crashed. Nayeon's eyes are now wide open because of Mina's unpredictable move toward her. She wants to pull away, but Mina is so strong, and her kisses are making Nayeon's knees weak.

Mina let out a chuckle before pulling away, leaving Nayeon speechless. The latter is just staring at her. Mina places her thumb on the latter's lip and gently caresses it.

"Am I a good kisser, Nayeon?"

Nayeon didn't answer her; she just grabbed Mina's tie and pulled her closer for a passionate kiss. The latter sat down beside her and wrapped her arms around Nayeon's waist. It's a good thing that there was no one else around, and the cafe has a wall that covers both of them. so that no one can see Nayeon making out with someone in a public place.

Nayeon's breath started to get heavier when she decided to let go. She gently cups Mina's cheek and caresses it.

Mina just looks at her, panting. They're just staring into each other's eyes, and no one even bothers to say something.

Nayeon closes her eyes and lets out a deep sigh.

"You are a great kisser, Mina."

—--

"What did I just tell you?!"

Dahyun squeals in excitement as she sees an engagement ring on Nayeon's finger.

It's been seven years since she saw Mina at the cafe, and now they're engaged.

Mina proposed to her last night at the exact place where they first met.

Who would have thought that Nayeon would find someone who made her feel what love was.

"Fine, fine! You won. I'm fucking in love, Kim Dahyun."

Dahyun giggles and hugs her best friend. She's so happy to the point that she wants to treat everyone to a meal. She still remembers how Nayeon told her that Mina was just a fling, that there's nothing more. And here they are, she just knows that Mina is the right one for Nayeon. She never saw Nayeon this happy, and Mina is the one who made her friend the happiest woman.

Mina turns out to be her love interest in the movie that she was cast in eight years ago. But she didn't show up in the script reading and photoshoot because she woke up with a hangover. That's why she's in the cafe as well, when she saw Nayeon. She knows who Nayeon was, that's why she decided to talk to her and tease her.

In the first day of filming, that's where Nayeon finds out that Mina is her love interest. The latter was just new in the film industry, and Nayeon didn't know her at all, and she couldn't believe that a rookie had already gotten the lead.

And their love story started. There was a lot of fighting and misunderstanding as the shoot went on, but on the last day of filming, Mina decided to tell Nayeon how she felt. The latter didn't agree at first; she just thinks of Mina as a fling. But she fell in love.

Nayeon fell in love with her.

And that's the reason why they're engaged now.

And she finally knows what love was.

For Nayeon, love is..

Love is when you wake up, and the first thought that fills your mind is Mina.

She's still the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen, even with that little bit of dry saliva in the corner of her mouth.

My days feel incomplete without seeing her smile or hearing her voice.

I long for her presence beside me always, constantly wondering if she's awake, if she's safe at home, or if she’s missing me as much as I miss her.

The small details that used to bother me are now making me smile. I've seen her at her best and worst, her faults and failures, and my love for her has only deepened over time. I'm still here, loving the Mina I fell for, more deeply than ever.

Loving her is like running a marathon; the idea of crossing the finish line where she stands gives me the strength to keep going no matter how tired I am. If that means I can see her there, waiting for me, then no distance is too big.

I will always find my way back to her, because she is more than just the person I love. She is my home.

"Hi, pretty face."

Nayeon giggles when she feels Mina's arm on her waist. Dahyun can't contain her screams again. Good thing that they were on a break now, and no one's filming.

"I'm sorry. I'm just happy for both of you. Congratulations!"

Mina chuckles, "Thanks, Dubu. Did Nayeon tell you about..."

Mina looks at Nayeon, and the latter looks at Dahyun with a huge smile on her face.

"Would you like to be the maid of honor?"

Dahyun covers her mouth as tears start to fall in her eyes. Don't worry, it's just happy tears.

It took her a minute to respond,

"Of course! Oh my God. I'm going to tell this to my wife!"

Dahyun hugs both of them before getting her phone and dialing her wife's number.

"Tzuyu, wife! Guess what! I'm going to be the maid of honor in Nayeon and Mina's wedding!"

The couple chuckles as they can hear Dahyun's excitement even though she's already away from them.

When Dahyun was already out of their sight, Mina gently grabbed Nayeon's waist and pulled the latter's body closer to hers.

"Are you ready for our date, honey?"

Nayeon rolls her eyes and chuckles. They've been dating for seven years, but Mina never fails to make her blush.

"I'm always ready, baby."

Mina giggles and gives her a quick peck on the lips before letting go.

"Go get your stuff, I'll wait for you here."

Nayeon nodded and stole a kiss from Mina before going inside her dressing room.

Mina's smile grew bigger as she shook her head. Who would have thought that she would find someone who would make her feel such things?

And do you wanna know what Mina's definition of love?

It's Nayeon.

The woman that she wants to spend the rest of her life with.

That's love.
