Work Text:
Everything was calm. Wataru was over in Tatsumi and Koga's shared dorm, the latter of the two currently away for UNDEAD practice. Wataru had taken residence on Koga's bed, sitting with his legs crossed under him with Jeanne D'arc perched on his shoulder and Gilles de Rais in his lap. Tatsumi was sitting on her own bed just a bit away reading a book, her legs straight out in front of her with her ankles crossed slightly.
The two of them had been doing their own thing and enjoying each other's presence, the room mostly silent save for the quiet humming of various Fine songs from Wataru and the accompanying cooing of his pigeons. However, Wataru could only stay still for so long. He enjoys the calm, much like anyone else, but he feels restless.
He lifts Gil from his lap and Jeanne from his shoulder and puts them on a pillow, watching for a moment as the two nestle beside each other. He pulls out two treats from his pocket, handing one to each of them, before pushing himself off Koga's bed.
The sound of the mattress and bed sheets shifting under his weight causes Tatsumi to look up from her book. Her eyes followed Wataru as he made his way over to her bed. He stood to her left and picked the book out of her hands, sliding a bookmark in it and setting down on her bedside table. Immediately after, he grabbed her hands with his signature smile on his face and pulled her off the bed. Her legs swung around and gently hit the floor as she stood up, following Wataru's lead to the center of the room.
The two stood for a moment, staring into each other's eyes holding each other's hands. Tatsumi, confused, was about to speak up before Wataru let go of her left hand and put his right arm around her waist. His left hand stretched out to the side, taking her right with it.
Then, he began to move.
Wataru's feet began to glide across the wood flooring, the other clumsily following suit. The two kept an imaginary tempo as they began to dance counter clockwise.
Tatsumi let her hand wrap around the other's neck, she recognized what they were doing almost instantly. It wasn't perfect, far from it, but the tempo they were keeping was one hard to mistake as well as the way they were moving.
The Viennese Waltz.
She didn't know how to waltz well, even properly for that matter. But that didn't seem to matter to Wataru. The two of them would occasionally bump into each other's legs or feet, silently making sure the other was fine. And slowly, they found their rhythm wrapped up in their own little world. Tatsumi couldn't help but giggle at what they were doing.
Wataru pulled her closer to him, and Tatsumi let herself laugh a little louder. The other also started to giggle a bit, a stark contrast to his normally loud and rambunctious laughter. A sound Tatsumi found herself treasuring every time she heard it.
Suddenly, she felt Wataru pulling himself away. His right arm fell behind his back as his left lifted in the air to spin her around gently before bringing his arm back around and letting her fall over into his arms. Wataru’s hand around her back held her up as he leaned over her slightly. He leaned down fully and pecked her lips, pulling away with a large smile plastered on his face. Tatsumi could feel herself matching with her own smile as the two stared at each other. The two shared a laugh, Wataru's notably much louder, before the two fell into their waltz once again.
Yeah, everything was nice.
