The birds circle chipping the salty air. Water sprints over the deck, drenching the crew. The bow sprit plowed through the waves, diving under every crest. About a hundred sailors board the boat with only long drift waves an immense power that only the seven Gods can make happen possibly. Beating upwind, the boat ripped across the stormy, grey ocean. Fighting through the squall at fifteen knots, if you were to stand by the railing edge of the fleet you'd find yourself falling into the deep depths of void and nothingness'. The adrenaline on board was palpable. You could see the excitement in the captain’s violet eyes. Some were seasick, some were scared, but she was euphoric. This was what she had been born of, the excitement, the intensity, the serenity that comes from complete and udder chaos. After ten hours of sailing to kings landing, she could smell the land coming to distance.
"Captain we found a trespasser boarding the ship." A voice brings the back forward, a young man with brunette hair and dirt covering the face. Supposedly looking like a runaway.
She plops down from standing on the edge of the ship not even worried by the possibility of falling into the unpredictable waters. Putting a hand over the chin she observed the man's face with some interest. The stare could make anyone quiver by the sight of her beauty.
"Who are you?" The man spoke in fear.
A small glance was given, letting the man's face go and standing up straight to answer. "Valyrios Darys, Vyselys Targarien gimigon." The princess watched the expression change, "Bisa udrir syri demalion ziry naejot." Pointing at the fleet she stood there. The man stumbled over the words. "I didn't know princess..."
"Please forgive me." was all the man said but Vyselys changed her harden expression into laughter, pulling the man up on his feet and slapping the elbow on the side as if they were longterm friends. "It's alright i won't behead you and feed you to my dragon. I will drop you off at Kings Landing, what do you say?"
There was no verbal answer. Though the folk always felt more at ease with the princess, she had an aura of an old time friend. Unlike the many Targaryens came off intimidating. But the princess was not like that, neither were her three older sisters and brothers. Perhaps Rhaenyra taught them to be kind above all. The realm needed more people like this. Vyselys didn't settle for unnecessary violence and angry, but if someone opposed her, they would taste fire and blood. Just like how the water have a calm and gentle side, it's temperament is low and defensive when wronged.
Everyone has their reasons, Vyselys likes to believe. Whatever they must do she wants to respect their actions.
Before the ship four large shadows passing above. The crew and the princess look back up, a deep violet scaled dragon flown above the sky, with a princess riding on top. Then two other dragons joining side to side. One which was Vermax, Jaecerys riding on top of him. Next to that was Jaehra and Visenya. The last dragon was Rhaenyra leading the pack of dragons with Syrax.
Vyselys turned around to the crew. "We are boarding. Prepare to land on shore."
"Yes Princess."
Pushing the boat with an anchor, Vyselys jumped down and was met with the king guards ready to escort the young princess. One familiar face stood out, Vyselys raising an eyebrow at the brunette man with a slight tan. The clothes the princess wasn't exactly appropriate to wear, longer black trousers, a pirate hat, sword sheathed to her left side and a ragged brown looking coat. Ser Cole gave a small scowl, but not a surprised one, "I see you still have your fashion sense, Princess." There was not much humour, more like a snarky comment to jab at the princess. Which completely deflected because Vyselys laughed it off. "And i see you still work here. Was beginning to think they replaced you." Faking a small pout at the knight, the princess went ahead to escort herself. Ser Cole felt a twitch in his eye but held back from exploding on the princess and her serious attitude. She really does remind him of Rhaenyra when she was younger - a spoiled cunt. But only this time Vyselys was more insufferable. But that didn't stop Vyselys from throwing shade, she took enjoyment in it being the reason someone's day was utterly ruined to shreds.
Following behind with a large gap distance. They reached the Kings Landing in matter of minutes. Rhaenyra stood there on the side waiting for the final child to arrive, being Vyselys, the sight of her daughter did not surprise the mother either. Only a small sigh comes out of Rhaenyra's mouth. "You should have brought spare clothes, Vyselys." Said the princess. Her daughter gave a small casual shrug. "I see nothin' wrong with a bit of mud, Mother."
Her three older sisters share a laugh watching Vyselys disregard the matter with just a 'bit of mud' to Rhaenyra. As if it weren't a big deal. But they were about to head to a meeting and that wasn't going to make a good image on them.
"You are doing it on purpose, Vyselys." Jaehra said.
"On purpose? Why would I do that." She shot back with a small scoff at the dark haired princess, with violet eyes.
"Because you are going to get married to some lord, and you don't want to look suitable to them."
"Not true."
"Is."
"Is not."
Standing between the princess stepped Jaecerys and he gave them a frown. Their mother gave them a small warning glance to stop their bickering, or to at least save it for later. But they cannot discuss it further. "Whatever your differences are, just put them aside for now until the meeting is over." They conclude it over, Rhaenyra went inside. Joffrey and Lucerys went along right after their sisters follow. The knightguards stand on patrol, in meantime the council was already set and going.
Compared to the past, Vyselys wonders if the decorations at Kings Landing have gotten uglier by the minute.
A lot of green, less of the Targaryen charms. Back in Dragonstone it was a lot more fitting for the dragon house. But it seems like Kings Landing was more of a Hightower playground, than an enriched house that rules the seven kingdoms.
The meeting has began, with Alicent sitting in the front with an unimpressed glint in those daggers. And her loyal dog, Criston Cole.
“Do they always have to look at us as if we were some dirt?” Lucerys complained quietly. Earned himself a good glance from Vyselys. “Oh please… I doubt our Queen Alicent can even pull a smile with her wrinkles.” The princess slants down leisurely.
Out of everyone in the room, let’s just say princess Vyselys was the most comfortable. It caused quite a lot of glances from the guards on the side in the silence, but Rhaenyra didn’t seem to mind.
Alicent side eyes them lot, before the dowager queen turned her hands together on the palm, pressed her thin lips into a downward smile. “Princess Rhaenyra, I’m glad you could make it.”
With a small response, Rhaenyra nods. “Of course, what is it that you wish to discuss?”
While the two mothers gave a somewhat intense stare. The princess huddles back, seeing the one eyed handsome man across the table, wearing all shades of black pairing with his fair skin. He was as white as snow, but handsome as hell. Vyselys hasn’t seen the prince in years. Last time they saw one another, probably when he lost the eye.
And since that day Vyselys and Aemond weren’t in contact. But she believes her uncle to be somewhat grown into the looks. Strangely he looks like Rhaenyra in some light.
“I want to betroth my son Aemond to your youngest daughter,” Alicent continues, breaking Vyselys out of her thoughts, the princess turned to the queen with shock. “Vyselys has proven to be a perfect match for the prince. And I reckon it brings our houses together in harmony.”
One word to settle the tension in the room, Rhaenyra felt a sharp knife purging out all the respect she had for Alicent left to dispute. Wedding her child to Aemond? Last time the dragon princess checked, Aemond was the aggressor towards them lot.
He didn’t hide his insults thrown at her sons. He didn’t even try to act somewhat respectful towards them even years ago when visiting the Kings Landing.
Rhaenyra wanted to deny it, but under what circumstances?
Aemond is a Targaryen, he’s freshly good looking, proven to be one of the best swordsmen yet in Kings Landing. He has the biggest dragon, Vhagar. Yet Rhaenyra still doesn’t approve of him.
But on Alicent’s side — something was brewing. Enough to tear a bigger whole in the world. It wasn’t an invitation, whatever this betrothal was, it was bound to be something more.
“That is very kind offer, Alicent.” Rhaenyra breaks a smile watching someone who was once a best friend, someone she loved — more than anyone before. “I think that’s—“
“Horrid!” Vyselys cuts in standing from the chair. “You and your sick queer customs,” Began the princess, her voice was sharp and loud.
It didn’t even matter if she was shouting in the presence of the queen. Vyselys felt disgust, or was it shame? How can someone marry their uncle?
Targaryen customs or not, Vyselys doesn’t want to marry nobody. And certainly not Aemond.
The prince gave his mother a glance widen eyed when the princess outburst was unexpected. Even Alicent herself was shocked. Rhaenyra wished that Vyselys would hold her tongue just a bit, but that was a political headache for another time.
“Surely Aemond isn’t a horrible candidate.” Alicent said with a laughter to ease the princess unnerving feeling from the air.
In which the princess gave the queen a sharp smile. “No, he’s the worst.”
Vyselys spoke flatly, like a balloon deflating completely. “I’d rather drown myself like a true Velayron does than to marry your son.”
“Ouch,” Lucerys held a small laugh. The princess shifts slamming the door shut after leaving, Aemond was completely flabbergasted.
He would have expected the princess to obey, like a princess should.
But the Velaryon blood runs thick, the prince ups and leaves. Alicent was standing there unimpressed and somewhat stunned.
It didn’t take long to realize that her mother was going to agree to this decision. Vyselys knew it. It’s not like the dragon princess had much choice either, Rhaenyra couldn’t deny such a strong choice given. Targaryens will always be in favor between Targaryen marriages, it’s a sick, sick custom that is practiced often. The princess left the castle, enough to find the docks and jump into the sea.
Words aren’t just words. The princess meant it when she said that Vyselys would take the death of Velaryons, to drown into the sea where once was her ancestors before.
This became a quick scandal. The maids, guards and other men working in Kings Landing watched Vyselys in the ocean drowning herself, and others surrounding trying to get her out. But the princess was in too deep and refused the help.
Until a hovering shadow dives in grabbing her out the ocean in one big swift move, it was Vhagar roaring in the sky and flying above the castle. The height from the ground was now too big and Vyselys was in Aemond’s hands the next.
Her eyes widen staring at him. “Let me go!”
“Are you mad? Do you realize how dangerous that is for you?” Aemond pulled on the wet fabric doming on Vyselys skin, soaked to it, it’s almost like a part of her now.
“Why would you care anyways? Just drop me down.” Vyselys said.
“No,” Aemond spat cutting the princess off. “You’re to be my betrothed and we’ll be married in four days. That’s the end of the story.”
“I don’t wish to marry.” The woman said; but the prince didn’t spare her a glance and he sighs. “I don’t think I asked you, Vyselys.”
“You’re my uncle.” Vyselys said in slow manner. “Not my husband.”
“Soon to be husband, Niece.”
“I’m a better option than your brothers, am I not?” He said it as if it were a bragging competition. The prince smirked and dropped down from Vhagar. Vyselys gave him a glare and she walks distances from Aemond until her older sister caught up.
The brunette curls, fair skin and beautiful doe-like eyes. Jaehra walks by holding Vyselys arm tight.
“Vyselys, you’re going to be in so much trouble.” Jaehra said warningly, mother is going to definitely have a word later. But then her eyes caught up with the taller prince.
Aemond gave a smile at the brunette princess. She has always been more eye catching than her sisters. The brown locks, freckles, fair skin… Jaehra has been rumored to be a spitting image of her late grandmother, Aemma Arryn.
Viserys lives to tell the tale and prove it to be true. But that is also why Jaehra might be his favorite granddaughter.
“Princess Jaehra, you look as beautiful as ever.” Aemond praised, and those soft and charming iris’ turn to Vyselys with sharp eyes instead. “I shall see you at tonight’s dinner, princesses.”
“Thank you, prince.” Jaehra said quietly and nodding. The prince had left them alone and Vyselys looks defeated.
The reminder that she will be the first one to marry is somewhat disheartening. Why must she marry? And Aemond out of all people.
“Let’s get you cleaned up.” Jaehra said bringing her sister over to the castle again.
Turns out a visit to Kings Landing wasn’t just a visit to have tea and cupcakes.
