Let the Heart Relax the Mind

Summary:

Everything was so quiet to him. It was almost overwhelming for some reason. He could feel himself on some sort of metaphorical edge, not knowing what would happen if he fell off it.

Notes:

A story of sorts

Work Text:

Mind rubbed his temples. He had been over working himself lately and he could feel the start of a migraine creeping forward. He sighed and closed his laptop, standing up and leaving the room. Carefully, he walked down the hall towards the bathroom. He grabbed the bottle of pain killers Heart left out for him and took some.

The Sun sighed. He hated taking medicine, but it was certainly better than the alternative. He went back into the hall and stood there for a second before heading to the living room.

Everything was so quiet to him. It was almost overwhelming for some reason. He could feel himself on some sort of metaphorical edge, not knowing what would happen if he fell off it.

Mind spotted Heart sitting on the couch. He stared at him, trying to figure out what he was doing. He was on his stupid switch like always. Didn't he have anything else to do than play games all day? Mind walked over and quietly sat down next to the other. The Moon looked up to see The Sun sit down.

"(Mind? You're up late.)" he said softly.

"[Shut up.]" Mind's response was curt, but he leaned down, quietly resting his head on Heart's chest. The other lifted his arms so he could before resting the switch on The Sun's metal arm.

"(You okay?)" all he got from the other was a grumble. Heart looked at the other with a bit of curiosity, trying to fully access the situation. "(Want me to put on some TV? Maybe music?)"

There was quiet, no response. Mind sort of rolled over, hiding his face against Heart's chest.

"[The usual please...]" The Sun spoke quietly, embarrassed to even say anything. The Moon smiles and grabbed the TV remote, putting on a cartoon about talking dogs.

After a bit, Mind looked back up to watch the show. He relaxed a bit and was soon able to forget about the starting migraine. He mumbled a bit, not realizing he was doing it. His modulator just made it sound like static.

Heart kept smiling. He set his switch down and ran his fingers through the others hair. Mind hummed at the feeling and closed his eyes. He been so focused on working, he hadn't realized how exhausted he had gotten.

And so, against his better judgement, he did something he rarely ever did. The Sun allowed himself to curl up into The Moons embrace. He let his exhaustion take over him as he fell asleep against the other.
