Work Text:
It was around 9:30 pm, and I was finishing up with my work. People constantly tell me that I transcend a lot due to the fact that I get my work done in high ranks as well as always staying in much later to finish. I’ve always done this because I enjoy the feeling when my boss refers to me with meritorious words. Once I finished, I locked the work up in my desk drawer, grabbed my belongings and exited the work building. I adjusted the small bag on my shoulder and started my way home, thinking about what I would be getting for dinner for the night.
Halfway there, I heard a loud shriek coming from up the hill I was near. As much as this sent a lurid sensation down my spine, I quickly took off in the direction. Wanting to be able to try and help whoever let out the shriek. I pulled out the flashlight from my bag, turned it on and continued making my way up the hill. I continued to walk, slowly the forest started coming into my main view, the one people insisted nobody should ever enter. The stories our parents and friends told about this forest are truly horrifying. They all insist that this place is a horror show waiting to perform. Waiting, and waiting, for fragile and naive souls to enter and never come back out. Nobody dares to enter, despite even hearing screams and cries from those inside for help.
I stood there, debating to myself on going in for at least a couple of minutes. In the end, my worry for whoever screamed out took over and I walked in. Making my way through the trees, listening closely to my surroundings. The further I got, the creepier things around me felt.
I quickly turned around, shining the flashlight in my hand through the darkness after hearing something move in the bushes. What I saw was something I was not ready for at all. I stared at what I assumed to be a male, he was as pale as a ghost with messy jet black hair down to his shoulders, and a hiatus smile carved into his cheeks. While also wearing a bloodied white hoodie and black leggings. After a few more seconds of staring I took off running, wanting to get as far away from whatever that thing I just saw was. I was terrified, what was that thing, was that what has been killing everyone who came in here, am I going to die next?
The thoughts were racing through my head as I ran past what looked like bodies in their decadence state, while one or two looked new, blood even stained into the trees and grass. Though that didn’t stop me from running, I kept on going, even though my legs were screaming to stop. I could hear the male chasing me, getting closer every second. In the end, he tackled me down. I started flailing around, trying to get away. Managing to get onto my back at least, he held his hand to my throat, pressing down on it and blocking out my needed air. I pulled at his arm and gasped for air as I watched him pull out his jaded looking knife. I tried and tried to get away, tears pricking the corners of my eyes.
“Go. To. Sleep.” is what he whispered, in his raspy, cold blooded voice. Before he brought the knife down into my face, right on my eye. That caused me to scream out in pain, despite the man choking me. He let out deranged laughs as he stabbed the knife down on me again and again. Soon enough, I faded out of consciousness, the sight of his bloodied and horrific face, being the last thing I saw.
