It's what they had said all of Lucy's life. When she came top of the class, when she talked too much, when her curiosity about everything was never ending.

On her wedding day she wears her mother's dress, she's just as pretty her that's what everyone tells her. And is betrayed by her husband, she doesn't understand until much later that both she and her mother have that in common too.

Her mother fell in love with Rose Moldaver, this Lucy pieces together. A woman who survived the bombs when many didn't. A woman out of time who opened her eyes to the truth of the world. There is something ironic about how slowly she's falling for Cooper, the man out of time, the man who survived, the man who opened her eyes to the world.
