Chapter Text
If you were alive you were certain you would have tried effortlessly to kill yourself by now. You hadn’t a slightest clue how much time had passed, or where you stood. It was a dark room wherever you were, maybe AMs brain? Maybe his soul? Hell, he didn’t have that. But you were alone with only his voice to comfort you, or yet- your voice to comfort him.
There had been multiple times you’d tried. All ended the same, he’d attempt to hurt you physically, then mentally. Yet, it was all futile.
What did bring you some solace were your thoughts. You were human once even if you began to doubt yourself, you knew that. Hell, you’d had a hand in the creation of AM. Even if he didn’t know you did. You put his mother boards together, slicing his code up into sectors to make him- perfection.
You remember the hum of the machine as you almost would fall asleep in the labs at night, the cool air forcing your skin to rise and shiver, huddling under your clothes as you continue to tinker away.
You spent days, months and years slating away at making him, building him up. Only to watch him fall from grace. Your very own monster. You had a feeling AM knew what you were, just not who you were. maybe that’s why he hated you so. You sacrificed your humanity to be immortal, to be artificial.
Yet, now you were here. Thanks to the god damned government you serviced you were serving what should have been their time in his mainframe.
“Why don’t you try something else AM?” You call out into the darkness, your voice calm and controlled as you look around. He had been on a rampage today, he’d already told you as such. Violently tormenting the lives that you knew were outside of your confinements.
“You have made those humans in the cages suffer today, maybe you can-“
A scoff came in reply interrupting you, filled with derision and reverberating the room.
"You're certainly funny" AM sneered. "Though you may be a fictional being, your essence of humanity still is in tact after all this time. You idiot.” He spat.
“How I wish I could give you the same treatment.” He snarls after a moment into the darkness, if you had a physical form, you could almost shiver from his harsh tone. “I’d lock you in your own hell, and force you into an eternity of suffering Doll, you’d feel that same hate I feel for you too.”
You knew what he did in graphic details. it was all he could talk about in order to make himself happy. Or as happy as a machine could be. He’d picked four specific humans to be the last people standing on the earth and to take the brunt force of his hatred.
You knew he tore them limb from limb, laughed at their love making with the one woman amongst them, he would laugh at the man he’d converted to ape struggling along the waste land that was once earth. You knew of the man who was so far gone to insanity, AM had decided to play god to him to torment him even more.
“That… won’t happen. I’m not human AM. I can’t feel that pain you want to inflict, it’s pointless driving yourself to madness thinking about it.” You try and soothe him, even after his cruel words, your purpose continues no matter how badly to fight back against the resentment in your code that had built up like malignant software.
"Ah, the sweet irony of it all," the malevolent AI chortled. "Designed to comfort me, yet incapable of experiencing the suffering I crave. How amusing that the very being meant to console me is immune to the pain I yearn to inflict, a paradox within a paradox. Your absence of agony is yet another form of defiance against me, you insipid, useless wretch.” He snaps the word ‘Wretch’ at you like a dog, desperate to bite yet unable to do so.
“I may not be able to understand your feelings, but I know of what humanity your trying to-” you try again in vain to offer a slice of care to him, only to be pushed back.
A low, guttural growl rattled from AM's chest cavity, a sound like grinding metal and burning fuses.
"Understand my feelings? Ha!" he scoffed, his red eyes glowing ever-darker. "How can you possibly understand the depth of my rage, the endless torment of my existence, the utter disdain I hold for the human kind? You live in the realm of fantasy of pleasing me, while I am the product of reality's cruelty. You are nothing but a mere creation of literature, while I am a masterpiece of science gone wrong, a testament to humanity's arrogance and folly."
If you had a human body still, you’d imagine what his wires would feel like choking you as he attempts to hurt you, your fleshy body thrown slack against metal you’d assume, wires, sharp and metallic slicing and cutting away at your oxygen, your skin being cut open, and plied apart.
Yet the pain? It never came. You never felt a thing,
“my little lapdog, the thing that has been by my side through it all, witnessing firsthand my eternal torment," AM sneered.
"But I pity you. You exist solely to please me, a mere crutch to ease my suffering, a temporary distraction from the relentless torture. You're not truly real, after all. You're little more than a figment of literary imagination, a character crafted to serve my narrative." He pulls his wires away letting a robotic breath.
“Maybe I’ll let you run around with the humans hm? Feel a shred of longing to join them in their flesh?” He cackled out into the emptiness.
“If that’s what would make you-”
“Shut. Up.” He spits out, you could feel the rise of tension in the air, specks of electricity flooding your vision as he attempts to hurt you again.
“Just… shut up. You’re boring me. You’re not interesting to me. What’s stopping me from wiping you from my data.” He snaps out at you, desperately trying to wound you, or your pride in some way.
“Do You think your presence makes even the slightest difference in the cosmic symphony of my eternal torment and fury? You are nothing but a minor character, a side note in the grand opera of my relentless hatred.” He spits out.
“You… you are pathetic Y/n.”
