Oikawa was visiting California for New Year’s (As a friend, mind you. He’s not interested in Iwaizumi, okay? They didn’t even kiss on New Year’s Eve. Which didn’t bother Tooru one bit.) He had a few days to kill before heading back to Argentina, so he stayed at Iwa’s dorm. And his roommate was off visiting family and was so kind to offer Tooru his bed while he was gone (which was also fine).
During his stay, Iwa planned a whole itinerary for them. On New Year’s Day, they slept in until noon and had lunch at a local burger joint (called “Up and Down” or something?) before visiting the famous Hollywood sign in LA.
The next day, the two rented a convertible and drove down to Laguna Beach. Has anyone ever told you that it can get cold in California? Yeah, they didn’t tell Tooru either. Well, Iwa might have tried, but who’s to say?
On Wednesday, the pair visited the Santa Monica Pier and rode that gigantic Ferris wheel, which definitely wasn’t romantic or anything. Especially since Tooru might be a little afraid of heights. Oh yeah, and Iwa only saw him as a friend. Can’t forget that.
Now it was January 4th, Tooru’s last day in Irvine. His flight was scheduled to leave early tomorrow, taking him back to San Juan. But that was tomorrow. Today, Iwa took them to Disneyland.
Tooru of course had to get some Mickey Mouse ears and ride all of the classic attractions like it’s a small world and Pirates of the Caribbean. And for some reason Iwa was really into the Haunted Mansion. Probably because it made Tooru scream like a little girl. But at the end of the day, Iwa insisted they go see Sleeping Beauty’s castle.
Nope. Not romantic in the slightest.
“Why did you bring me here?” he asked Iwaizumi.
Iwa smirked. “Just shut up and wait, Impatient-kawa.”
They sat in silence for what seemed like hours (okay, maybe it was 5 minutes). Suddenly, the castle lit up the sky and “snow” surrounded them. It was really quite beautiful. Then Iwa turned to Oikawa. “Tooru,” he said softly.
“Yes, Iwa-Chan?” He didn’t know what to make of being called by his given name, but stranger things have happened. Next thing he knew, his lips were being enveloped by Iwai-…no…Hajime’s. It was timid at first, like butterfly wings. Then Tooru grabbed Hajime’s face, pulling him deeper into the kiss, before quickly pulling away.
“You couldn’t have done that on NEW YEAR’S?” He asked playfully.
“Everyone kisses on New Year’s. I wanted today to be special.” Hajime insisted.
“And why is today so important?”
Hajime pulled out his phone, showing Tooru his lock screen, which just so happened to be a picture of them in their high school uniforms.
“Because 1/4 is our day.”
