Work Text:
uh yeah this stuff's gonna get copy/pasted from the discord chat i originally posted it to lmao, be ready for janky formatting and thoughts that go everywhere and also some of my friends add to this so yee-haw
and im not copying entire conversations, just the important au bits i thought should be mentioned, some contributions are from friends and will be noted
sorry if it's hard to read ;-;
[directly copy/pasted messages]—♧
im givin' them human names here
Dr. Paul V. (Pure Vanilla), he's a renowned doctor, used to work with Wendy Lawell (Saint Lily) before she dissapeared
Helen B. (Hollyberry) is a well-respected cowherd, despite having a never-emptying flask pracrically glued to her hand
Dalton Cooper (Dark Cacao) is the town's mayor, used to be a well-known ranger before getting shot by his own son Derek Cooper (Dark Choco) during an argument and was forced to retire
Goldie C. (Golden Cheese) is pretty much the richest woman in town, despite losingn her ranch in a freak dust storm
[friend 1]
Strawberry’s name is Stephanie but most call her Stephy of strawberry
[me]
gingerbrave just goes by Brave becayse he got a stupid long name like Jerimiah
Brave & co. are the town rascals, they're trying to be helpful but end up making a mess for everyone
and theyre working with known outlaw Constance P. (chili pepper) , though she seems to be behaving herself
Cacao and Choco are still korean, they just adopted american names
Brave & Co. featuring:
Geoffery B. "Brave" Jerimiah Smith, aspiring to be a sheriff but ends up causing trouble
Stephanie Berry, hangs around Brave because they're friends
Wesly (who won't share his surname), talented chemist at the age of 13, though most of what he does goes up in smoke
Charles "Charlie" V., young nephew of Paul V. and wants to be a doctor
Constance Penderson, local outlaw and the only adult in the group
Beatrix G. Smith (Gingerbright), Brave's older cousin who's weirdly fixated on the macabre
—
when Goldie lost her ranch she also lost all her beloved ranchhands, and her adopted daughter was severely injured so Goldie's not doing too well mentally
—
[friend 1's contribution, they asked and i said why not]
Ewansiha Luca Abara Jones (licorice) Nigerian Beninese voodoo practitioner, coming from a family of immigrants now resides somewhere on the outskirts of the town.
Him being a male practitioner makes it a bit harder to pursue the craft
Anara Davudi (pomegranate) Persian Korean, was already born in America to immigrant parents, took on a role of a shrine priestess at first, later chose to be a shaman
Earl Grayson (earl grey) works as a butler, sometimes looks after the kids if needed, whitey white
[back to me]
D. E. (dark enchantress)
she's the town enigma, causing problems left and right with no way of telling where, when or how she'll strike next
she's vying for power, looking to take over then destroy the town
Ewansiha and Anara both are suspected of working for her, but with no concrete proof, nobody's going to jail
nobody knows who D. E. actually is, but eyewitnesses claim she looks like Wendy
—
Derek, after shooting his dad, was arrested and thrown in jail
poor guy got into some trouble with D. E., Dalton found out and that's when the argument started
Dalton was telling Derek to stay the fuck away from them, Derek wanted to save the town by taking them down from the inside, things got heated, guns were drawn and both of 'em got shot
Derek shot first, getting Dalton in the hand and in the chest, and Dalton got Derek right in the eye
it's damn miracle both of them survived
Dr. Paul's scarily good at his job
rumor has it he dabbles in the long-lost art of magic, but they're only rumors
but not a single soul has died on the doctor's table
but yeah, Derek spends most of his time in jail
he's sometimes let out on supervised walks around town, Dalton requested it because the guy does care about his son but he never joins him
—
Carmen Brown (caramel arrow), town sheriff
immigrated with her parents from korea when she was small and her name got whitewashed in the process, and she lost her parents to illness a year after so she doesnt really know what her real name is
anyways she's the youngest sheriff in the town's history, personally appointed by Dalton and she learned to shoot from Derek
she's leniant towards Brave & Co. because theyre (mostly) children and still believes they can learn how not to fuck things up, also has beef with Dalton's scheming assistant but can't really say anything
Carmen's really good at her job, there's been a minimal amount of trouble since she was appointed and whatever trouble does occur is swiftly shut down
she's good at defusing situations, not so good at chasing runaway cattle

[friend 1 made an unprompted contribution which is, as they used to say, poggers :3]
Periwinkle Ahiga Nez Ramos (purple yam) (I’ve probably butchered the naming systems but we have what we have) Ecuadorian Inuk, the tribe isn’t identified yet, but he speculates that he’s part of the Navajo community.
Rather boastful, but knows his limits. Is not from any of the mentioned towns. Had a duel with Derek when the other was released after he attacked his father, luckily didn’t leave the field with physical injuries, but instead an injury to his pride.
Got into a fire accident in his young adulthood, since then he’s vary of flammable substances.
Milo Beak (milk) Lesotho Korean American, whose father is a second generation immigrant. Sometimes called The Yakman, since he knows how to deal with those as well. Is a doctor in training, and because of that tries to be everywhere to assist in aid.
Mei Salvo (Mala sauce) Chinese Spanish, second generation immigrant from mother’s side.
Doesn’t take shit from other riders, rather skilled in shooting when she’s on a galloping horse. Ah heir, daughter of a clan leader.
Dean Sanders (Dino sour) Latino American. From the family of animal enthusiasts, has two pet lizards.
Knows how to horse ride, but does it only to “wind down”
[back to me]
it(the duel mentioned in friend 1's big ramble)'d have to be before the attack because the supervised walks are, well, supervised so no dueling happening

ive decided that the Lily/DE gimmick in this au is that D. E. is Wendy's identical twin and she kidnapped Wendy and partially assumed her identity
expanding on this, when D. E. kidnapped Wendy, she put Wendy on a train going to a distant city and Wendy hasn't found her way back yet
D. E. knew that Wendy was onto her so she had to send Wendy away
D. E. couldn't outright kill Wendy, she *is* her sister, but she needed Wendy outta the way
Wendy, meanwhile, isn't having the best time in the city [i need to name it]
(the city is Beast-Yeast, specfically the Faerie Kingdom, for those wondering)
Wendy quickly realized that D. E. had sent her here and she hadn't wandered onto the wrong platform, but when trying to return home the train station fucking exploded (D. E. made sure of that) so now she's stranded while the station and tracks get rebuilt which is taking forever because the construction keeps getting sabotaged and workers are mysteriously vanishing
there's this guy
lurks around in the unnamed city's shadows & back alleys
he's an infamous outlaw forced into hiding, but recently started working with D. E.
she promises to help him reclaim his former glory, but only if he helps her with her schemes
anyways nobody really knows this guy's name, he's known as the Fool King but that's about it
he leaves no witnesses, and if there's no body at the scene then the poor soul got snatched away, never to return
there was a ranger who managed to bust the entire operation, almost put the Fool King in prison, but FK managed to escape and has been hiding ever since
the ranger became the city's mayor soon after, despite never joining the running
"anyone who managed to get that close to putting away that bastard should be mayor!"
anyways in case it isn't obvious, the Mayor is Elder Faerie and FK is shadow milk
im having a hard time naming them
[friend 1]
Idk Elder Ferguson something and Sean something
[me]
i was thinking maybe Samuel for Fool King
it's only part of his name and the only part known to the public
[a second friend joins the contribution team]
My brain came up with Ernest for Elder Faerie
[me]
Elder Ernest Ferguson
i like that
—
dunno how to name them yet but Peperoncino and Habenero run the general store
Pep runs it, Habenero helps out
[third friend!]
Habanero would be Jr. I'm so sure on it
[third friend again when i presented him with Leek and asked them to contribute]
A while back I named him Liang Zhen like the man who started the 4 Chinese dynasties
I think he'd be some kind of outlaw on the run but he's not bad, Robin hood type shit but in the west
[mee]
omg he n' Rebel (also a robin hood type) could work together
[friend 3]
Yeah I hc them as brothers so they would be a fun duo
I have a name for Rebel too if I remember
Liang Feng
—
[some discussion later and peperoncino and habenero are named Peppe and Peppe Jr.]
Peppe and his son Peppe Jr.
Peppe Jr. insists on being called Peppers because he thinks Peppe doesn't sound like a gunslinger's name, as he wants to be a "awe-inspiring ranger" when he grows up and "Peppe Jr. isn't awe-inspiring"
Peppe has him working full-time in the general store
used to only be a few days at a time, but Peppers gets in so much trouble that he's working pretty much all the time
—
Farmer Peter Russet Johnson-Mendez (potato cookie], specializes in pigs and potatoes
his farm is a co-op of several other veggie farms, also happens to be the only male farmer in town (lol)
here are the other town farmer, Carrie and Sarah, with Betty as their farmhand (Carrot, Spinach and Beet)
—
Derek got 15 years in jail for the attack, it's a lighter sentence than usual because the courts considered it a crime of passion
his sentence ends 'round when the au's story occurs, and Dalton's the one who lets him out
there's a bit of akwardness at first, being the first time either man's seen the other in 15 years, but after a few moments Dalton offers to take Derek out for some drinks and they start to reconcile from there
there's lots of "im sorry i shot you" and "yeah that was dumb of me" and "god, i cant believe i was such a stubborn bastard" and a lot of catching up in their conversations after that, and eventually start seeing eye-to-eye on things they used to butt heads over
then they go home because it's gotten late and things are good for them
—
[friend 2 is back]
I’d add on to the cowboy au with other characters, but I’m playing Ace Attorney right now so I’m distracted
What would the Crème Republic be though?
[me]
probably a town [town 2] that's close by, group of people left the town we're already in [town 1] and founded town 2, which turned out to be way more successful than town 1
except the people who founded town 2 didnt actually found the town, they went to the preexisting town and declared it theirs while pushing out the people who were already there :[
i'd think they left after the freak dust storm that wiped out Goldie's farm, in fear that it'd happen to *them*, too
anyways town 2 knocked town 1 off the map because it grew so fast, town 2 is closer to being a city but isn't really there yet, and because town 2 is so massive and prosperous there's hardly any business in town 1 anymore, and people have to go out of their way to get there
town 1 isn't doing so great because of the above, Dalton's doing his best to keep it afloat, but with the nonsense with D. E. and someone constantly embezzling funds, it's gotten hard for him
town 2's offering to buy up all of town 1's land and absorb town 1, but the people in town 1 don't wanna give up their land
it'd help the people in town 1, but they're a buncha stubborn bastards and they'd rather eat a cactus than sell their land
"hello! im a representative from [town 2]! i'm here on behalf of the councilship to offer you a hundred thousand dollars for your farmland!"
"..."
"well? what'll you say?"
"kiss my ass"
hm, maybe D. E.'s causing all this nonsense because town 2's offering a large cut of money if she can get town 1 to sell their lands
(pretend there's that one "oh yeah its all coming together" gif here)
now why does D. E. want all this money?
she owes a HUGE monetary debt to Fool King for keeping Wendy in the city for so long
oh yeah ive connected all my dots
moral of the story: money is evil
—
[friend 2 keeps asking the good questions]
Oh yeah, so what are the Legendaries in the cowboy AU?
Are they like, other town leaders? Or influential people?
[me]
the ones that lean more on the "god" side of the Legendary scale are spirits of the west, surrounded in myths and said to appear only to a few
meanwhile the ones on the "guy who's pretty notable" side of the Legendary scale are living legends, also rarely seen
(it was here that i made an image of most of the legendaries split into two categories, "still gods" on one side and "potential historical figures" on the other. "still gods" included
frost queen, moonlight, fire spirit, longan, timekeeper, millenial tree, sugar swan and stormbringer
"potential historical figure" included
sea fairy, pitaya, ananas, lotus, abyss monarch, wind archer and black pearl)
(assume Lychee is dead)
(xylitol nova was shoved in his own category because i didnt know what to do with him)
so we have Xylitol Nova as the president of the united states
fuck else was i supposed to do with him
—♧
anywaysyah that's the end of all ive got so far, feel free to leave questions ig
