Work Text:

“Come on Joanne. Where are you taking me?”

“Shh…dad. I am not going to kidnap you. Trust me.”

It seemed like a very long walk. Like a walk on a long beach of lust soft sand. Except it was on the carpet on the wooden floor of their hallway.

Blaine didn't know what he was doing or where he was going. All he knew was that he was blinded by his teenage daughter by a black blind fold and now she was tugging him gently to somewhere in their apartment.

“Where are we going, dear?” Blaine repeated 4-5 times with no answers from the other side.

“Can you please be silent for a few minutes, dad? I promise. You will love our surprise.”

Blaine wanted to shut up hearing his daughter's quite annoyed tone. But a thousand thoughts hit him like a boomerang. Did he miss any important dates? Oh no, was it their wedding anniversary? How furious would Kurt be if it was their anniversary? But Blaine was pretty sure it was not their anniversary.  Then what was it?

Little sparklings of giggles filled the hallway as they approached somewhere. Blaine could smell some familiarity in the air now. A whiff of Kurt's favourite scent and cool homely ambience of their bedroom hit Blaine, giving him some idea on where he was.

Another hand held him; their giggles were prominent now. And then a sudden pause of voices. Blaine could feel a body moving to the back of him and undoing the blind fold.

“Uggh…what is this?”

Blaine rubbed his eyes, trying to get his blurred eyes focused.

“Tadaa!!”

Blaine's eyes straight up focused on his husband who was standing in front of their vanity dresser, looking so charming with a hint of shy smile. Kurt was always amazing in his looks. But something was different.

“Is that- is that your wedding tuxedo?”

An instant hit of happy tears rolled down Blaine's cheek and Blaine was dragged down the memory lane spontaneously.

The tuxedo was still fit after twenty years of their marriage.  Though Kurt had gained a few pounds and the coat was straining against his arms and legs, he was still the same in Blaine's eyes.

Blaine had the same lovey-dovey eyes he had on the day of their wedding, while he was standing at the start of the aisle at his soon to be husband, who was standing at the other end, near the altar. Their children held his hands firmly and walked him towards their papa.

The subtle play of their aisle walking song: A beautiful piano rendition of “Can't Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Prestly filled his ears, merging with the serenity of their bedroom.

His hands suddenly felt free and their children backed off, giving their parents some space.

“I know I've gained some weight and this tuxedo doesn't fit well anymore. I hope you love this. I was just looking into the wardrobe, trying to get rid of some old clothes for space and I found this. I just tried it on and I wanted you to see. Oh god, this isn't a good idea. I am not young for this tuxedo anymore. Maybe I should- mmph”

And a ramble blocking kiss took over, calming Kurt down and making Kurt forget what he was saying. Blaine held him by his waist with one hand and let the other hand explore his smooth velvet coat laden back.

For every second they were kissing, Kurt forgot what he was saying and Blaine forgot where he was. Their thoughts merged together and met at the same place and time: the moment they saw each other when Blaine walked towards him, down the aisle.

Gasping for air, they broke their kiss and stared into each other's eyes. They didn't know how they managed to take their breath away for twenty six years. But they knew something: their love for each other was a tale as old as time yet fresh and gorgeous as a rose.

Blaine didn't realise that they broke the kiss until he felt Kurt's thumb rubbing his cheek, wiping the stray tears.

Kurt giggled and broke eye contact first, which led to Blaine giving a teary chuckle.

“What was I saying? Sorry, I was distracted by my gorgeous husband right here.”

“Oh is it? I think you were speaking about how gorgeous and young you look. How lovely and charming you look in this tuxedo. How you managed to take my breath away wearing this tuxedo.”

Blaine twirled Kurt and held him again, earning a blushed husband. Blaine's lips hovered over Kurt's ear as he spoke.

“Who said this wasn't a good idea? All I can see is my soon to be husband. So lovely and handsome.”

Kurt shook his finger wearing the wedding band and played along.

“But I am already married, Blaine.”

“Yeah? Me too. I'll marry you again if you want to.”

“Oh stop it, Blaine. I think my face will burst if you don't stop your icing talk.”

“What? You're in your tuxedo. Maybe I'll wear mine too. Maybe we'll leave Joanne and Marc here. And we'll elope. I'll marry you again. And we will be a young married couple again.”

“Blaine,that's insane.”

“Yeah, I am insane for you.”

Both of them held each other firmly, numb to their surroundings and distracted to each other.

“I think… It's our cue to leave now. These adults won't stop being disgusting with those kisses. See? They forgot about us too” Joanne commented to her brother.

All that work and what did it get me?” Marc sang, earning an eye roll from his sister.

Why do I do it?”

And Joanne dragged her brother, pressing her hand on his mouth.

Now back to the couple.

“Do you think I'm still pretty?”

“Do you doubt it?”

Blaine nuzzled into his neck, holding his hand as they started to slow dance. Blaine's steady voice singing “All Of Me” built on, filling the thick clouds of air containing Kurt's perfume. He loved Kurt, he loves him and he will love him. That's a promise forever.

“I'm too distracted to say yes”.

“Very well,” Blaine smiled and continued, holding each other's dance and getting lost in each other.
