Work Text:
Stephen all but stumbled through the portal he’d made to Tony’s location, half day dreaming about cool sheets and warm skin pressed up against his.
A wall of heat slammed into him, instead, and he had to swallow a sound of something like betrayal to find himself in the lab instead of their bedroom. Tony had the forge going, hence the wall of heat. As Stephen watched, he quenched the piece he was working on, sending up a billow of steam and adding even more sweat-inducing humidity to the room.
Looking up, Tony smiled as he caught sight of Stephen, but his expression quickly fell. “What’s wrong?”
“You’re supposed to be in bed,” Stephen said plaintively. “I can’t cuddle you like this.”
Tony chuckled softly. “You must be exhausted.” Stephen just blinked, not quite processing the words. “Go on up,” Tony said. “I’ll take a cool shower and be right with you.”
Stephen made a disgruntled noise, but he let Tony guide him toward the door. Cool sheets were beckoning.
