Work Text:
Briar, remind me again why you want to meet my mother?
Because sweetheart we’ve been dating since sophomore year, and we’re gonna graduate soon, it’s about time I meet her..
Yeah but.. she’s.. you know..
Briar sighs in an annoyed tone, yes faybelle I know, but trust me I’m a very like able person she’ll come around!
Faybelle gives briar a very untrusting look, I guess it’s worth a try..
——————————————————
Right outside the door of faybelle mothers place:
Faybelle mother lived in a shitty little apartment complex (that’s what happens when you get exiled from society)
I’m sorry it’s not nearly as nice as your place…
No faybelle, it’s fine, it’s perfect
She gives faybelle a saccharine smile.
Faybelle isn’t sure if she believes her, it’s not perfect, nothing is..
Her mother literally caused briars mother to sleep for a hundred years, she took away everything she loved. Her mother was responsible for all the fear , all the despair in briars life. It wasn’t perfect. But Briar was, so Faybelle decided to against her better judgement, open the door..
The pair stood in the doorway and peered inside, it was dark and dingy and there were strange decorations scattered across the room.
Ah faybelle, you’re home! And is this the girl you said you wanted me to meet, what a nice friend she must be!
And which villain is she the child of you must let me guess..
Mother, no. She’s not the child of a villain. She’s.. *faybelle sighs intensely* she’s the daughter of sleeping beauty..
Faybelle could feel the tension in the air as she reached over and grabbed briars hand.
And, she’s not my friend.. she’s, my girlfriend.
Faybelle’s mother’s jaw must have dropped so far it reached the floor.
Ah.. *faybelle’s mother chuckled scarily* you must be joking.. right..
she looked at Faybelle in disbelief.
No, mother. I’m not joking. She really is my girlfriend. I love her. And if you can’t understand that then we can leave.
Briar squeezed faybelle’s hand tighter
Faybelle whispered
I’m sorry..
No. Faybelle’s mother barked. No I will not allow this. Faybelle this goes against EVERYTHING I have taught you I will not allow this either she LEAVES.. or I will never talk to you again..
Faybelle could feel the tears in her eyes welling up, she really believed, she really thought that this would work, because she loves briar. Why can’t her mother understand.. she stopped as briar interrupted her thoughts.
NO WHAT THE FUCK!? She’s your daughter and you’re just going to kick her out over some silly story!? This is bull shit, you’re a horrible mother, Faybelle, we’re leaving.
Faybelle looked back at briar, now completely overcome by her tears. She nodded. And they left.
They left and they ran, ran until they were far enough away to never look back, never remember what happened.
They stopped as they got closer to the school.
Briar grabbed faybelle’s cheek and kissed her softly. I’m sorry.. I.. I’m sorry I made you do that I’m sorry I put us through that I..
Faybelle cut her off with a kiss, this time more passionate than briar had been..
No, don’t apologize briar, it’s not your fault.. it’s hers.. I’m sorry you had to go through that.. i should’ve been more adamant that it was a bad idea I’m sorry briar I’m so sorry I’m..
Omg, shut up faybelle, we both know it’s not either of our faults so come on.. let me kiss you.. I don’t need any meeting of parents or family rituals.. I just need you. You’re enough faybelle I love you.
Fuck, Briar.
Faybelle could feel herself starting to cry again.
I love you too, I love you so much..
