We Can Both

Summary:

Rhea and Damian were acting strange all day, and Reader can’t figure out why. That is until she overhears the two of them talking and things start to make a little bit more sense.
Oh, and a fan nearly exposes the secret throuple.

Notes:

Another shitty short fic to give some more background lore and to help me procrastinate the other fics I’ve been working on :)

I feel like I keep working backwards in time with the Y/N x D x R fics so just know that all of these are in random order and you can kinda tell where they're at by who else knows about the relationship, where they live, what they call each other, etc. Either way, you don’t have to read the other works to really understand them, but it doesn’t hurt.

Enjoy! :)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Rhea and Damian were acting weird.

Not towards you, but to each other. You couldn’t tell if there had been a fight, or an uncomfortable moment, or what was causing them to be short and distant from each other.

It wasn’t great… You had plans to cuddle up between the both of them when you got to your hotel.

Maybe they were just cranky from the road trip, which would be fair. You weren’t too happy about the meet and greet that you had to do before they let you check-in to your hotel. It was for kids, so that wasn’t too bad. But with kids came their weird parents with no boundaries, which could be draining. Not to mention that you wouldn’t be getting settled into your hotel until well past sunset.

The first three quarters of the meet and greet went by smoothly. It was routine by now, and it was just you, Rhea, and Damian there to represent The Judgment Day, so there was at least a little bit of comfort having your partners there beside you. And though your relationship was still mostly a secret held by you three and the other The Judgment Day members, it wasn’t too hard to play it off as friendship. A polyamorous relationship is not the first thing that people think of when they see a group of three people sitting close together in the way that it would be if it was just you and Damian, for example.

So aside from the tension between Damian and Rhea, things were moving smoothly. A tiny fan even came up to you with a drawing in his hand and held it up in front of you with a wide toothless smile.

“Holy shit, man!” You exclaimed, admiring the young fan’s artwork.

Damian nudged your arm, and when you turned to face him, he pointed at the kid, “Child!”

You raised your eyebrows, looking down at the little kid’s bright smile. “Sorry… holy shit, kid!”

Rhea laughed beside you, and Damian groaned. The kid’s mom didn’t seem to mind, she was equally as excited to see Damian as her kid was to see you and Rhea.

Once the woman happily started explaining something to Damian, you and Rhea took a picture with the happy little boy.

“This is for you,” He reached up and handed the artwork to you. You gasped, not missing the way Rhea lovingly squeezed your arm as you reached out for it.

“Are you sure? Thank you buddy!”

But just as you were about to grab the paper, he snatched it back and squinted up at you like a little demon child, “But first you have to answer a question for me.”

Not one to back down from a challenge, you put your hands on your hips and scoffed down at the young fan, “Sure, buddy. Anything for that beautiful artwork.”

“My mommy wants to know if you’re dating Damian!!” The little boy whispered, but somehow his whispered voice still hurt your ears.

You laughed, but his question immediately flustered you. Blush rose on your face, and you looked around quickly to see who saw you.

“Uh, no…” You started, but Rhea’s loud voice interrupted your nervous one.

“The Judgement Day is one big family. Besides, big man over there is too busy trying to defend that shiny title of his!” Rhea exclaimed, pointing at Damian’s World Heavyweight Champion title that was clasped around his waist.

The little boy must’ve bought it, because he smiled another missing-tooth grin and handed the hostage drawing to you.

You took the paper, stunned, as the young boy skipped over to where his mom was being practically dragged away from Damian.

“If that was an adult, you’d be in the next gossip magazine,” Rhea accused, her eyes steady on yours, “You gotta get better at that.”

Sensing some tension between you and Rhea, Damian stepped over, “Hey, two more kids then we’re done. Take it easy.”

When the meet and greet was over and they’d finally let the three of you leave, you were still on edge. It had never really come up like that before. There were jokes, but as far as you knew, no one really suspected anything. Of course, the rest of the roster had suspicions at this point, but they all had their stuff they didn’t want getting out. No one would dare leak that to a fan or to press.

It was still bothering you even when you got back to the hotel. The car ride was eerily silent, with the tension between Damian and Rhea still present and the anxiety still swirling in your stomach.

“We need to talk about that,” Rhea said as soon as you all stepped into your shared room.

And there were immediately tears in your eyes, the brewing anxiety finally bubbling over, “I’m sorry, he caught me off guard.”

“Hey, woah, woah,” Damian was quick to come over to you and pull you into his arms.

Rhea’s expression immediately softened, “Alright, it’s not that big of a deal, I’m not lecturing you. We haven’t really talked about how to handle this kind of stuff. I would have stumbled too if I didn’t have time to think like I did.”

“It was really stupid of me and I totally messed that up,” You admitted, tears still in your eyes but not falling.

“It’s alright. We can practice it from now on,” Damian suggested, his hand soothing patterns into your back before he pulled you away and let Rhea grab you, “You don’t have to worry, princesa. That woman was too busy talking to me to hear any of it.”

“Are you going to tell me why the two of you have been so weird today, then?” You looked between the two of them, and you didn’t miss the way Damian gave Rhea a shake of his head as if to say ‘Not now’.

“I’m just tired, dove,” Rhea said softly, honestly. Her thumbs were rubbing soothing patterns on your arms where she had you gripped, “In fact, I’m going to go shower and get ready for bed, okay?”

You nodded and moved to sit down on one of the queen beds. The three of you opted for just the one hotel room, knowing that this hotel didn’t have as many of the rest of the roster with you and it wouldn’t be too hard to explain that you decided to room together as just the three of you. The rest of the faction weren’t going to be arriving until you hit the next city for the next live show as well, so it wasn’t like you had much luck with your usual sleeping arrangements with two in a room anyway.

Damian began organizing his stuff around the room like he usually did while Rhea got into the shower. You decided to do your own bedtime routine, as you did have a bit of a stress headache brewing at the tension between Damian and Rhea. They barely said anything to each other since the meet and greet, only opting to speak to you.

Of course they sometimes had issues with each other, as all families tend to do. But this was different. This time you had a feeling it was something to do with you and it made the anxiety bubble in your stomach.

You were brushing your teeth while Rhea was finishing up her shower, and when you spit out some toothpaste you lifted your head to speak to her, “Mami?”

“Hmm?”

“Maybe we dial it back in public? That way they won’t ask me about us?”

The water to the shower suddenly shut off, and Rhea was pulling open the shower curtain and reaching for a towel. You took the time to admire the way the shower water dripped down her body before she began drying herself off.

“No, that’s not fair. We shouldn’t have to change anything because of people having no boundaries,” She complained, looking up at you with a frown, “I shouldn’t have snapped at you earlier, honey. It made me nervous too, and I didn’t react fairly to you.”

“I get it,” You nodded.

Damian made himself known at the doorway by gently tapping on the door frame, “Maybe we tell the PR people? See if they can help.”

It was the first time Damian said anything real to Rhea in a few hours. You nearly sighed in relief.

“If they try to make it into a love triangle storyline, I swear to god-” You started, but Rhea shook her head.

“They like me and Dom too much. If anything, they’d put the two of you together,” Rhea explained, tying her hair up into a towel on the top of her head.

“No matter what, it’s fine. We’re not going to do anything messy that’ll fuck with the company’s image. Let’s just go to bed and worry about this when we aren’t dead tired, okay?” Damian suggested, his hand landing on your shoulder.

“Okay,” You agreed, relaxing against his hand and following him out toward the room.

Him and Rhea finished up their nightime routines and changed into pajamas while you waited, eyes already heavy as you snuggled into the cool sheets of one of the queen sized beds. It was tough to fit the three of you in a queen bed, especially with Damian being 6’5, but it didn’t hurt that you usually slept curled together like there was nothing but glue between you.

When they did get into bed, you were quick to snuggle up to Rhea, your arm around her waist as you rolled onto your stomach. She already knew that meant you wanted back scratches to fall asleep, and her long nails were tracing your skin before Damian had even flicked off the lamp beside the bed.

The two of them talked a bit, mostly going over what the plan was for the next day of travel. You half listened, mostly distracted by Rhea’s touch, until all of a sudden their words were more like distant hums. At some point there was no more sound at all, and you were being pulled so slowly into sleep.

“Okay, we handled her. Now what’s been going on with you today?” Rhea whispered, her nails still scratching your back.

For a sleepy second, you thought she was talking to you, until Damian’s deep voice answered her, “Is she asleep?”

“I think so,” Rhea answered, “The back scratches usually do the trick.”

You had never been the world's best actor, and you had your entire WWE career to prove for it. But holy shit if you weren’t about to sell the best fake-sleeping sell that had ever been.

“You were acting weird today too,” Damian accused, shifting beside you, probably to turn and face your other companion.

“Because you were acting weird first! Spit it out, Priest. I could tell she was upset today because of this.”

Damian didn’t say anything for a little bit. Then finally, he cleared his throat before saying, “I had a dream that I told her I loved her. And I guess I don’t really know how that kind of thing is going to work with this… This situation we have.”

Your heart was racing, and you prayed that neither of them was pressed hard enough into your body to feel it pounding.

“Do you love her?” Rhea asked, her voice barely even a whisper.

“Yeah, man,” Damian admitted, “I mean… I love this. I love her. Don’t you? I can see it when you look at her.”

“I do,” Rhea agreed without any hesitation, “We can both love her, you know. I thought we’d already talked all of this out?”

“It’s just new, that’s all. You know I don’t do this stuff,” Damian paused then sighed, “I’m sorry I was a dick today, Rips.”

“I’m sorry I was a dick in retaliation.” Rhea said softly, and you could almost picture the beautiful expression on her face..

It was quiet for a few seconds, and that was when you finally decided to speak up. Your voice was a bit groggy as you said, “I love you too. Both of you.”

“I knew she was awake,” Damian groaned, and Rhea immediately began cracking up as he continued, “You weren’t supposed to hear that.”

“Best sell of her career, right there,” Rhea joked.

“You beat me to that joke by a second!” You smacked her arm, laughing.

“You’re still cool with this, princesa?” Damian asked, and you turned around to face him.

You nodded, looking down at his lips as you said, “I’m just happy you guys can call me love now.”

“You like that, hmm?” Rhea questioned from behind you, poking at your ribs.

“Maybe…”

“I do love you, princesa. More than I thought I could,” Damian said suddenly, his eyes so loving and sincere, “I know Mami does too.”

Rhea placed a kiss at your shoulder, something she had started doing a lot more often now.

“Can we talk more about this tomorrow?” You asked, yawning as you inched into the open space that once was between you and Damian. The man wrapped his arms around you, his chin resting against your head as he did so.

Rhea chuckled, inching closer to press part of her body to yours and she gave a noise of agreement.

It was quiet for a while longer before Damian spoke, barely a whisper, “Si, mi amor.”

You weren’t even sure if Rhea would have heard it, but you did, and it made your heart soar. You’re loved, by both of them, completely.

Notes:

Not my best (possibly my worst lol) writing. But I wanted to put out something while I work on the other two.

Thanks for reading!
