Chapter Text
Life was going so well! Toshinori had his good health, his great career being the Symbol of Peace, his glorious good looks, and an absolutely gorgeous wife waiting for him at the hospital right this very moment! In pain. In need of his support. Giving birth. To his son. Right. Now.
With the revelation starting to sink deep into his mind, he put a very hearty pep in his step as he pushed One For All to its very limit.
Landing atop the roof of the building adjacent to the hospital, Toshinori was resolved to bust down the door and race to his darling wife! A stray whistle caught his attention and demanded it in the alleyway below.
A gentle smile graced his lips as he stepped off of the roof and landed into the alleyway, cape billowing very handsomely. Oh! Superhero landing!
He approached the attention-seeking culprit before him. A very tall, lanky long-limbed man wearing very sharp-rimmed glasses, holding a bundle of clothing, and wearing a rather stern look on his face. A good friend of his.
“Mirai! Fancy seeing you here!” Toshinori bellowed joyously, holding his arms wide in a gesture for an embrace.
Mirai Sasaki took the bundle of clothing and slapped it into the giant’s chest before the embrace could connect. “Don’t ‘Mirai’ me, Toshi. Hurry up and change! You have somewhere else to be and someone else you need to be greeting.”
“So serious, Mirai! Lighten up a bit! It’s a day of celebration, right? Hahahaaa!” Toshinori happily guffawed as he took the clothing from his sidekick.
Mirai turned his back and so Toshinori let his flex on his body finally loosen. His hair fell flat on his head, his bunny bangs wilting to rest alongside his face. His chiseled muscles slowly relaxed and shrunk down to a normal resting position and the dark shadows on his face receded, leaving him looking far less serious and intimidating.
Quickly throwing on his clothing he now stood ever so slightly shorter and looked far more ‘civilian’ than he previously had. Mirai turned back around as Toshinori gestured to himself, “How do I look?”
“Like a father,” Mirai answered softly as a small smile adorned his face.
Toshinori returned the smile and walked past his friend, giving his shoulder a friendly tap.
“Come on. My son beckons me!”
Toshinori inquired about which room his wife was in and Mirai pointed the way. Being a man with a mission, Toshinori quickly hauled himself up the many flights of stairs all the way to room 365. He braced himself with a quick, ‘It’s showtime’, and opened the door.
Upon entry, Toshinori was greeted by the sight of a gorgeous green-haired angel gently cuddling a swaddled bundle.
The click of the door shutting behind him drew the angel’s attention and she turned to face him. She appeared exhausted, her hair let down and slightly stuck to her forehead glistening with sweat. Despite the exhaustion, she gave the giant blond man a megawatt smile that pierced his very soul and spoke his name aloud with a honeyed voice.
“Toshi!”
Toshinori quickly closed the distance and pulled a free chair up to the side of her hospital bed. He gently cupped his large hands against her face, whispering a quick, “My love” and pulled her into a sweet kiss.
He then pulled himself away and adjusted his body so that his left arm cradled around her and turned his attention to the swaddled loaf she held in her embrace.
“Now then, who is this handsome little man?” Toshi asked as he used his index finger to gently rub the baby’s cheek.
“Our beautiful son, Izuku Yagi.” She hummed affectionately.
“He’s so damn cute! I blame you, Inko.”
“Woah now, you contributed to this as well, sweetheart so some of the blame is yours.”
Toshi took note of the black hair sprouting on baby Izuku’s head.
“Look’s like he got your father’s black hair. Damn, I was really hoping he’d be blond like me.” Toshi pouted to himself before taking another look at his son.
“Hmmm,” He hummed curiously.
“What?” Inko asked.
“It seems he got a lot from you. Nose. Face shape. Oh! Eye shape too!”
“You say that now but he will probably look more like you as he gets older,” Inko assured her husband.
“Bah! Even if he doesn't I am okay with it. You're beautiful so I’d be more than happy if he kept all your good looks.” Toshi smiled as he turned his attention back to his wife.
“You’re too sweet for your own good, love.” Inko smiled, planting a kiss on his lips.
She pulled away and softly said, “I love you, Toshi.”
“I love you too, Inko. Thank you for making me the happiest man in the world.”
Before the husband and wife could gush even harder over one another, a rap of knuckles against the door caught their attention.
“Come in!” Toshinori bellowed toward the door before being swatted by Inko in an attempt to hush him up.
The door opened to reveal Mirai, followed by a slouched older man with gray hair, short stubble, and a perpetual air of ‘old grump’ floating about him.
Last to enter and shut the door behind them was a shortened older woman. She had faint traces of brown in her graying hair, a longer all-white medical coat, a unique off-red and white dress underneath, and finally, over her face was a blue visor that was held to her head by an open-topped pink-colored helmet.
“Ah! Mirai! Sir! And Chiyo! Wait…sir?!” Toshi exclaimed as his eyes landed on his old trainer and homeroom teacher from UA, Sorahiko Torino aka Grand Torino.
The old teacher in question waved his hand dismissively at his former student’s actions.
“Don’t act so surprised, Toshinori. With a reaction like that, you’d think I was the devil!” He sat down gruffly in an unoccupied chair and stared out the window.
The older woman, Chiyo Shuzenji aka Recovery Girl, shook her head disapprovingly at Sorahiko before waltzing up to the opposite side of the hospital bed.
“Let’s have a look-see at the young tike, may I?” She asked Inko.
Inko nodded and faced baby Izuku toward Chiyo and the woman gave a thorough glance before smiling.
“Looks healthy as can be. Congratulations Inko, Toshinori.” She beamed happily.
“Thank you,” Inko replied happily as she returned her attention to the child.
Mirai adjusted his glasses before clearing his throat, garnering the attention of everyone else in the room.
“Toshinori. Might we pull you away for a moment to speak privately?”
Toshinori was quiet for a moment before he moved to start standing up. Inko placed a hand on his arm, halting his movement. She turned her attention to Mirai.
“You don’t have to tiptoe around it, Mirai. I know what it is you want to discuss. You want to talk about…him.” She let a frown adorn her face.
The tension in the room grew but Mirai was the first to recover.
“Yes. I’m sorry to bring it up now but…I’m worried. Not just about you, Toshi but about Inko too as well as your son.” Mirai spoke worriedly as he pulled up a chair.
Sorahiko spoke next, “You know what happened with Nana, Toshinori. I’m happy you have a life with a loving wife and now a newborn son but…he is still out there. I can't help but worry that he’ll come for them. Just as he did for Nana’s husband. Just as he would have for her son.”
Toshinori felt his face contort into a sour expression. Why did they have to discuss this now? He hated talking about that vile man. He’d be lying if he said he wasn't worried as well. They’ve done all they can to keep his marriage hidden but he has a way of knowing all.
He took a deep breath and turned his attention toward Inko. She met his gaze without an ounce of fear in her eyes. She held a look of a strong will and unwavering faith, in him. She gently caressed his face and smiled lovingly at him. God, he loved her so fucking much. Always there to give him strength when he needed it most. She was his hero.
Returning the smile to his wife he turned back to his comrades this time with a hearty grin and a dazzling thumbs up.
“It will all be okay! Why? Because I am here!” He proudly declared.
“I won’t live my life in fear of him. I will hone my strength and live this amazing life to the fullest and if he comes…when he comes, I will be ready to face him. He will not take from me any longer.”
Mirai looked at his friend in surprise before devolving into a half-hearted stifled laugh.
“You’re crazy, Toshi.”
“I second that!” Gran Torino piped up from his chair.
“Gonna have to third that as well. Sorry!” Chiyo laughed in good nature as she walked over to sit by Gran.
Toshi sighed exasperatedly, turning to his wife for support.
“Sorry, love. I fourth that.” She giggled out upon seeing her husband’s look of aghast betrayal.
Toshinori slumped down and got close to Izuku.
“Fine…at least I have you, my son. You don't think daddy is crazy, do you?” He inquired hopefully.
“Waaaahh!!” Izuku whined aloud for the first time and it was to declare that yes, his father was indeed crazy.
Everyone laughed happily much to Toshinori’s dismay.
No one knew what the future would hold but it was sure to be interesting. That much is certain.
