Work Text:
The bar was quiet this early, the only people currently were Kurogiri and Izuku. Kurogiri was doing some general tidying while Izuku finished his second cup of coffee. Neither of them spoke, faint music replaced the silence.
Once Izuku finished he slit out of the chair. He walked over to the dishwasher to put his cup away.
The sound of steps coming down the stairs could be heard. Izuku smiled, recognizing the steps. He didn't turn around instead let them approach.
The steps grew closer and arms wrapped around his waist, and they pushed their head into his back.
He turned around and looked down at Toga, she was in loose pastel pink pajamas, her hair was down falling over her shoulders. “Good morning, Love. I can see someone is excited.” He ran his fingers through her messy hair.
She looked up and smiled. Adorable, Izuku couldn't help thinking. “Yes! I've been looking forward to this date forever,” Toga exclaimed.
Izuku laughed, “we only made plans two days ago.”
“Same thing,” she drawled, draping herself over the bar counter.
Izuku lightly flicked her under the chin, a playful grin on his face. “I've had my coffee so I'm gonna go get ready now alright?”
Toga squinted at him. “Did you eat anything?” She asked.
“Why would you think otherwise?” He asked nervously. He slowly walked towards the stairs before bolting up them. “I had coffee,” he yelled before she could say anything else or give chase.
He shut the door to his room. Rummaging through his closet he grabbed a knife holster, he stabbed it around his waist and put a knife in each side, just in case.
After slipping on a hoodie he insured his knives were hidden but also easily accessible.
Once Izuku was content he smiled to himself and left his room.
He was quickly greeted by Toga grabbing his hand. “Are you ready to go?” She asked.
“Of course.
Izuku took her hand and off they went, using one of Kurogiri's warp gates to bring them near the mall.
The mall was quiet, it was not quite the afternoon during the week. Most people were at school or work.
“Alright, where to go first?” Izuku asked.
“Hmm.” Toga thought for a second before nodding. “Food,” she declared, “you haven't eaten and I'm hungry.”
She pulled him towards the food court before he could say anything else. “So many options,” she squealed. “What do you want?”
“I'm really not hungry,” he said sheepishly.
“Just pick something,” she said, her arms wrapped around Izuku's. “Doesn't have to be an actual meal or anything.”
Izuku scanned the food court and eventually laid eyes on a crepe stand. “Alright. Let's get crepes.”
Despite being the one who picked the spot Izuku let Toga drag him there, her enthusiasm about everything making it easier to let her lead.
Toga leaned against him as they waited in line. “What are you going to get?” She asked. “I'm gonna get the one with chocolate and wiped cream!”
“A good choice. I still haven't decided yet.” He continued looking through the menu, being indecisive about what he wanted right until it was time to order.
They placed their order, Izuku paid for them, and then waited over to the side.
As they waited Toga was humming as she rested her head on Izuku's shoulder. He just smiled, touching his head to hers.
When the worker called their number Toga bounced forward and grabbed their crepes. Izuku followed after a second meeting her halfway.
She handed off his crepe and they went to sit down. They chose to sit in a single person cushioned chair which was more than big enough for them to both squeeze in.
Izuku sat with his legs hung over the edge, one hand wrapped around Toga. She sat with her legs tucked against her chest, and partly laying on Izuku. She was using both her hands to hold her crepe but was pushed as close to Izuku as she could get.
The two of them enjoyed their crepes. Toga stole a couple of bites of Izuku's but while he protested (very dramatically) he didn't try to hide the playful smile. Nor did he once try to stop her very obvious acts of stealing.
“I saw some villain merch on our way here, wanna go check it out,” Izuku asked.
Toga shoved the last bit of her crepe into her mouth. “Sure, I saw some of it too. I think there was merch of Stainy.” Toga wrapped herself around one of Izuku's arms as the walked.
Thankfully no one had pointed out the two Villains walking around the mall yet, so overall Izuku would say the date is going good.
They found the store that was selling the villains merch. They looked through it starting with the wall of Stain merch.
“Look at this!” Toga said holding up a Stain plushie that was not the most well made.
“Why does he look like that,” Izuku said laughing.
Toga frowned. “Don't be mean to him. I'm gonna buy one.”
“Alright I'll be nice. Should we get one for Spinner? There's also hero merch, maybe we can grab something Eraserhead related for Shiggy.”
“That's a great idea.” Toga picked up a second Stain plush. “Should we get something Endeavor related for Dabi,” she asked with a manic grin.
“As funny as that would be I don't feel like dying or being the cause for the bar getting set on fire. Kurogiri wouldn't forgive us.”
Toga was nodding to what he was saying when her attention was grabbed by something else. A couple shelves over with some of the general, not Stain specific, villain merch there were Villain trading cards. The box was lined with art of various Villains, Stain and Shigaraki were front and center but other members of the league were on the sides of the box.
Izuku picked up a box. “These are by the same company that makes hero cards. I guess they decided to make a villains set. I think we should open some.”
“Definitely!” Izuku picked up a second box. They moved towards the hero parts of the store.
After a lot of searching they found the very small section of Eraserhead merch. Outside of a few keychains there was only a hoodie. They picked out a size they figured would fit Shigaraki.
“Do we need anything else here or are you good?”
Toga giggled. “Endeavour merch,” she whispered. Izuku shook his head. He took her hand and led them up to the check out.
He put his stuff onto the counter. “Put the plushies up Hun.”
“I could of paid,” she said as she sat them on the pile. Izuku shrugged.
He gave a smile to the cashier as he rung their stuff through to try and make up for the awkwardness of buying villain merch. One of which had images of them on in (yea that was definitely a smart idea).
Izuku paid and the cashier handed him a bag with their items. “So want to head over to the main reason we came?” Izuku asked as they walked out the store.
“Yes! Build a bear,” she exclaimed while jumping around. Izuku slipped his hand into hers so he didn't lose her as she jumped around. He planted a kiss on her head before making their way towards build a bear.
Once they got inside the store they led go of eachother’s hands to look through the option. Toga bounced between all the bins, pointing out ever cute option (which was most of them). Izuku was getting convinced they'd leave with half of the store, which he wouldn't mind).
He scanned the options for one that caught his eye when Toga let out an excited squeal. “Look at this one Zuku!” She was pointing at a pink frog.
Izuku walked over to her, standing behind her slightly off to the side. His chin gently resting against the top of her head. “You gonna get that one?” He asked.
She nodded as she grabbed the skin to stuff. Beside the pink one there was a green frog. Izuku grinned. “Well then, I think,” he reached towards and grabbed a green one, “this one.”
“They match!” She exclaimed.
“They do,” Izuku's voice was filled with affection and his smile went to his eyes.
“Come on, come on. We need to get them stuffed.”
Izuku chuckled. “Coming.”
The employee at the machine checked how much they wanted them stuffed, Toga went with lightly stuffed and Izuku did medium. Once the desired stuffedness was reached they picked out a heart each. The worker walked them through doing the heart ceremony. When they finished they placed the hearts in and had them sewn up.
“Clothes time! I'm gonna go find adorable clothes for her.” Without another word she ran off leaving Izuku standing there smiling like an idiot.
“Alright, clothes,” he said to himself. He looked around, the ones that stood out to him were some cute overalls and a suit. There was also a sword that he had decided was a knife, despite knowing otherwise.
After a bit of thought he decided on the overalls and knife. He made sure to make sure the fit before tracking down Toga, which wasn't too hard.
She had dressed in a black and purple outfit and a dark pink bow.
“Yours is so cute, look at mine,” she said holding her up for Izuku to see.
“Absolutely adorable,” Izuku responded. They filled out their birth certificates and paid, putting the certificates in their bag. They held onto their frogs as they left.
They were looking for a spot to sit and open their cards. There was a voice behind them, that was all too familiar.
“Izuku,” the voice was a whisper but was oh so loud to Izuku in the quiet mall. There was a sad unsteadiness to it.
Bakugou was standing on the other side of the hallway. He was just standing there, his mouth open in a slight frown.
“Kacchan,” Izuku drawled. Despite the nickname there was no fondness in his voice, only cold indifference.
Izuku shifted his frog to one hand, putting one hand on one of his knives under his hoodie. Ready for a fight if it came.
There was a lot of emotions running across Bakugou’s face: sadness, guilt, determination, guilt. “Will you come without a fight?” He asked quietly with a grimace.
His grip tightened on his knife as he pulled it out, Toga did the same. Bakugou reluctantly shifted into a fighting stance.
There were concerned whispers, mainly about the knives, while the three waited to see who'd make the first move. Before either party could do anything security came running around the corner.
“You two, put the knives down,” one of the guards yelled. All the tension melted and Izuku and Toga (still holding their frogs and knives) bolted.
Bakugou didn't try and follow them, just standing there as the security guards ran by. They ran to the nearest exit and burst through the doors laughing.
Once they were far enough away they texted Kurogiri with their location and a request for a portal. Toga looked up at Izuku,” that was certainly unexpected, but fun,” she said with a grin. Izuku hummed in agreement. He gave her a quick kiss on her head.
He wouldn't admit it but he was still slightly shaken by the impromptu encounter with his former friend. He was looking forward to getting back so they could cuddle and enjoy each other's presence without the looming threat of an angry pomeranian.
Within a couple minutes a portal opened. They stepped through, everything going dark briefly, emerging in the bar.
“Welcome back. You should have stayed away,” said twice, with his normal contradiction.
“Spinner catch,” Izuku said before taking out one of the Stain plushies and tossing it too him. Spinner looked up just as it was about to hit his face, so he did the logical thing and caught it in his mouth.
He dropped it into his lap to get a better look at it. “Hell yeah, Stain merch! Thanks.” He turned his attention back to his game. Checking to make sure Shigaraki had his gloves on, and wasn't going to dust the hoodie, Izuku threw the hoodie at him.
“Hey,” Shigaraki yelled, moving the hoodie off his head to glare at Izuku and Toga.
“Bye,” Izuku said before him and Toga dashed up the stairs to her room. They sat down on her bed.
She added her frog and Stain plushie to her pile of plushies.
They spent the next half an hour opening their cards, by the end they both had special rares of each other as well a a whole bunch of other cards.
Once they cleaned up the cards Toga tackled him. Izuku wrapped his arms around her and they spent the rest of the afternoon cuddling and talking.
Despite having to run from mall security it was a pretty good date.
