Dario had sneaked out of the campus dorms, deciding that he didn't want the increased chance of him running into anyone he didn't like. Using his clever sneaking skills, he snuck out of the campus dormitory and walked outside into the courtyard. Looking up at the watchtower he thought that whoever was on watch that hour probably won't be able to see him. Slipping the gate open just a tiny bit, enough to squeeze through his weapons and then himself, walking into the tree lines in front of him for an afternoon stroll.
Dario hadn't realized just how far he had wandered when he turned around and could barely see the College, “aw fucking hell…” he mumbled to himself, worried that if he wandered too far he wouldnt be able to get back, as he turned back around a loud groaning sound came close by. Immediately going into a defensive stance, walkers began to surround him as he pulled out his pistol that had a silencer at the tip of it, he began shooting them in the head but it wasn't doing any good, more and more appeared and he was forced to slowly inch backwards to what he could hope wasn't another walker. His breath quickened as he pulled out a knife and went into a caged dog mode, scared and alone…
Eliza was staring blankly at the tree line with a rifle in hand. The day had been quiet so far, not that a group like this could get very quiet, anyway. She still wasn't used to it. being around so many people. It was loud and confusing. Most of the people were nice enough, but talking was never her strong suit. So as usual, she took watch alone. Not that she minded much, but sometimes the silence was just as ear piercing as the lively chatter taking place all around her. But it's what she was used too. What she was comfortable with. Looking down the scope, she caught a glimpse of a mass of the undead forming
“That's… way more zeds than usual…” She mumbled to herself, concern and confusion flashing in her eyes.
There hadn't been anything out that way to attract any, and while they didn't exactly need a reason too, it was still going to be an issue if they headed towards the campus. looking closer for any signs they would, she saw someone in the middle of it. attempting to fight their way out. Making up her mind without much consideration, she climbed down and ran to help.
Dario was getting backed into a corner, his pistol began to slowly begin to run out of ammo as he was backed into a pile of rocks to which he had climbed, breathing heavily he stood on top of the rocks, looking down at the walkers who were starting to climb the rocks.
Dario decided that if he was going to die, he would die fighting, reloading his pistol he began to shoot the walkers that began to climb the rock, the bodies would fall and hit the other walkers, pinning them underneath each other but still climbing. He was thinking while doing this “Maybe if I had made up with Jacob…then…”
Eliza had just reached the edge of the edge of the commotion, and pulled out her hatchet. As much power as a rifle had, it was useless if she was being mauled to death.
Swinging down or the nearest one, she caught the attention of the zeds and the teen on top of the rock. She swung on another and tripped the one next to it, killing it while it was down. Dodging, Eliza cut off one of the hands making a reach for her, the head quickly following.
“What?” Dario could only mumble before snapping back to reality as he quickly hopped down off the rock but ended up twisting his ankle with a quick snap, “FUCK” he shouted in anger but then began to shoot the walkers in the head in order to help Eliza. Leaning against a nearby tree he was able to stand on one foot and assist Eliza before she would suffer a terrible fate.
Chopping at the head of the last walker in the small clearing, The girl noticed Dario barely standing. She walked over to him.
“You doing alright? No bites or anything?” She questioned with a worried tone.
Dario was breathing heavily as he stared at the ground and nodded “Yeah…sprained my ankle but im fine” He spoke as he stood up to try and stand “It doesn't really AAGH-” he shouted out in pain as he buckled his knees and leaned against the tree for support, his legs shaking from the pain.
“Woah woah, slow down take it easy.” Eliza rushed over to stand by him, hands hovering in the air. “Take a minute to relax, you'll just make it worse if you keep trying to stand on it. Trust me, i've tried.” The girl said as memories of gritted teeth and agony flashed through her mind.
Dario grumbled and his hand rested on the tree, his body pressed against it and leaned on it for support, his legs still wobbling from the pain “I think I got it-” Dario tried to shoo Eliza away but it was no use
“Just take a second and then we can head back. We're not exactly strained for time right now,” Eliza sighed, putting her hatchet away. Considering it was her watch shift, they were short on time, but a minute or two to regain their composure wouldn't hurt.
Dario, wanting so badly to tell her off, to tell Eliza to go away or to leave him alone…the pain kept his mouth shut. Slowly he straightened his back and was able to “hobble” on his feet, clearing his throat. Dario spoke “Do you…mind walking me back? It’s not like I can't defend myself but with this foot I'm probably walker food if I get caught again-” he shyly asked Eliza.
The girl glanced back at him and shrugged. “No problem with me, I was waiting for you for a reason.” The girl took out her weapon and flipped it in her hand. “You ready to go or do you need a little longer?” She asked, turning on her heel to face him.
Dario shook his head no and slowly hobbled to her, pulling out his pistol and slowly followed Eliza at her side. The pain was still very much there and very painful but he could probably deal with it…probably. As they both walked down the trail both of them came upon…Dario spoke out once more “you seem cool…and you know how to swing a hatchet really good…do you..want to be friends?” GOD Dario did NOT know how to talk to other people when it's not him being mean.
Eliza gave a small smile and chuckled, reaching her hand up for a fist bump. “Sure, you don't seem as bad as everyone makes you out to be, and I could use more friends. Never been good at making them.” She mumbled the last part under her breath.
Dario was relieved she didn't make fun of him for asking, he raised his hand and fist bumped her back with a smile, “Thanks…though that makes me wonder what people are saying about me” he scoffed as they both made it back to the gate, slowly putting pressure on his foot so he could quickly get it fixed it up.
