Rentoya stands outside of the room, nervously holding a box in his hands.
Cinderella's been having a hard time since she got to the Outpost after being cleared by Mana. I hope I can get through to her.
knock knock!
"Cinderella?"
There was no response.
Rentoya opens the door gingerly.
The former Heretic sits alone on her bed, knees tucked to her chin, barely acknowledging the Commander as he enters the room.
He sits down next to her carefully.
"Hey there," Rentoya offers gently.
Cinderella looks at him briefly, then quickly averts her puffy, red, tear-filled eyes. Her cheeks were a burning red, and she quickly hides her face out of embarrassment.
"Hey, hey, there's no need to be afraid of me. I'm here to give you something, actually."
She shyly pokes her head up, and Rentoya offers the box in his hand. Cinderella hesitantly takes the gift from him and looks at him inquisitively.
"It's a gift for you. I want you to feel welcome here at the Outpost. You're safe here, and I will protect you, no matter what."
Cinderella timidly opens the box, pulling out the crimson scarf from within.
"Oh!"
A small squeak of surprise comes from the Nikke, and a smile breaks out across her face. Cinderella hugs the scarf tightly.
Rentoya takes the scarf from her and wraps it lovingly around her neck.
FWOMP!
Cinderella hugs the Commander tightly.
"I love you-it! I l-love it," Cinderella murmurs into his chest, "Thank you, Commander..."
He holds her close.
"You're welcome, Cinderella. Welcome to your new home."
