Vignettes: Katsuki the Galaxy Ranger

Summary:

One of the few Galaxy Rangers remaining in the Cosmos, Katsuki Bakugou takes whatever bounties he can get his hands on—the stronger the mark, the better for him.
But he always picks the ones that have committed the vilest of acts, as a form of well deserved justice under the approving gaze of the Hunt.

Stellaron Hunters, the Antimatter Legion, the Annihilation Gang, Abominations of Abundance, they will all fall to his grenades.

Notes:

Katsuki finally gets his first vignette in the Star Rail AU!
And now for the obligatory trivia!

IPC - Interastral Peace Corporation, a large conglomerate type organization that follows the Path of Preservation and gives everything they make to their Aeon (Qlipoth)

Stellaron Hunters - People who hunt and take Stellarons, it is unknown what it is they're truly after other than Stellarons. Whether they're actually good or evil depends as they're a faction who believes the ends justify the means

Stellaron - The Cancer of All Worlds, they are a mysterious growth that spread throughout the universe and cause massive changes to the worlds they appear on; typically to a more negative degree that destroys everything.

Fragmentum - A corrosive phenomenon caused by a Stellaron, it can corrupt living beings into monsters or even create new monsters. Eventually overtaking the world it's on provided the Stellaron isn't properly contained.

Synesthesia Beacon - A translation device that can be injected, and also hacked to do things like censor swear words

Chapter 1: Vignette 1: The Nth Bounty - Koichi

Chapter Text

The snow beneath his feet brought about a familiar coldness, one he hasn’t experienced in over ten years. Not since he left with those Fools to eventually find a Galaxy Ranger, but now it seems fate has brought him back to his home planet.

His eyes scanned the snow, searching for possible tracks with very little luck.
If that Stellaron Hunter came this way, then his tracks would have long been covered up by fresh snow that constantly keeps his home covered.
He’s shocked the Fragmentum hasn’t completely overtaken the planet yet, as when he last stayed here it had taken over more and more of the Underworld’s settlements with Rivet Town as the most recent to have been lost.

Who knows if Boulder Town still stands.

“Any visuals on the mark?” The crackling of his communicator almost startles him.
Can’t she see he’s having a damn moment!?

“Fudge no, and still no forking luck on fixing my blasted Synesthesia Beacon?” He countered, the laughter of his current companion almost snapping his attention towards him.
Fucking Fools and their pranks, but at least Mirio is more tolerable when compared to the ones who initially got him off of this iceball.

“No luck in that department, and it’s possible the mark went into the settlement to get information on the Stellaron here.”

“Heck no, if he was stupid enough to go in there then the Silvermane Guards would have arrested and imprisoned him. Though whether they can actually hold a Stellaron Hunter is another question,” Katsuki said, his eyes moving to the large walls that separated the last bastion of Belobogians from the Eternal Freeze.

“If he were to seek shelter from the snow, then he’d find a way to sneak underground,” he continued.

“Or I could freeze out here,” a new voice piped up from inside of a nearby building.

Katsuki first looked at the Fool standing next to him, and then to the building that his target has to be hiding in. He didn’t hesitate as he reached for one of the grenades Melissa crafted for him and reached for the pin.
“Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t blow you up and bring whatever’s left to the IPC.”

“Please don’t! I mean, surely the IPC would pay you more if you bring me in alive? Plus aren’t you also on the IPC’s wanted list? I’m sure a few of their officials were on your bounty list,” the Stellaron Hunter spoke quickly, poking his head out of the window to give Katsuki a sheepish smile.

“I mean, who is to say they’ll let you go when you bring me in?”

Katsuki grinned as he pulled the pin.
“Not good enough, Koichi Haimawari.”

“No wait! Damn it Knuckle, why didn’t you tell me my transport to the Luofu would be a lunatic!?”

Katsuki paused.
“Luofu? Like the Xianzhou Alliance ship? The heck do you Stellaron Hunters want with that?”

“I can’t really explain it right now, but I’m supposed to get the Astral Express to come to the Luofu for Knuckle’s stupid script!”

With a grumble, Katsuki reeled his arm back and threw the grenade.
He smiled at Koichi’s scream as it landed by his feet, only for a small puff of smoke to come out of the small bomb.

A dud.

“So that’s why your wanted poster appeared on my Bounty List. Your Hacker got past Melissa’s firewalls to force it through,” he said, walking over to grab at the front of Koichi’s shirt.
“Know this, I don’t like it when you motherforkers screw with my bounties. I only hunt those that commit the vilest of acts, and the fact that you tried to break my principles really irks me. Got it?”

“Crystal clear,” Koichi spoke quickly, sighing the moment Katsuki released him.

“So now that we got this cleared up, how about we go for some Stone-Grilled Olm? I haven’t had that since the Express Crew were here on Belobog! Mina and January 11th definitely had the biggest appetites I have ever seen, and then Izuku got dragged into the Fight Club! Reminds me of how Miss Inko’s boy used to train in the Fight Club to hopefully either join the Silvermane Guards or Wildfire,” Mirio chimed up with a wide grin on his face.

At the reminder of Miss Inko’s son, Katsuki tsk’d and turned his head to the side.
That idiot never stood a chance, and now he’s gone forever.

“I could use some good food after this ordeal,” Koichi chimed in.

Knowing he’s outnumbered, Katsuki shook his head and started to make his way to the secret entrance the Fools would use back when they would frequent this planet.
Plus it would be nice to visit his old stomping grounds, see how Miss Inko and her clinic are faring, and even visit the memorial honoring those lost to the Fragmentum.

Maybe even tell Deku all about the adventures he’s gone on since leaving this iceball.
Adventures that Deku should have joined him on, were it not for the Fragmentum.
