There weren't enough seats for the interview. Murdoc had to wonder how somebody could mess up the calculations as there were clearly four people in the group, but he stood there counting only three chairs. He glared over to the interviewer, who showed no remorse nor cared about this predicament as they sat in their chair. It was only polite for them to offer their seat and they sat on the hard floor, right? Noodle moved to sit down in a chair as did Russel. That just left him and 2d. 2d tapped his fingertips together and looked between the chair and Murdoc. Murdoc didn't have to be a scientist to see that 2d was anxious about the predicament.
"I could sit on the floor. It won't bother me." 2d offered.
Murdoc scoffed. "You're in Gorillaz. Act like you have some class. Here," He moved to sit in the last remaining chair and then motioned for 2d to come. He could see the relief flood onto 2d's face as he went and sat in Murdoc's lap. Murdoc's face grimaced as he felt 2d's tailbone poking him. For a split second, he forgot just how skinny 2d was.
The interview went off without a hitch, but the problem with 2d being in his lap was that Murdoc couldn't see the interviewer. Whenever a question was directed toward him he'd have to crane his head off to the side to answer. The longer the interview went on the more Murdoc found that he had no place to put his arms. Having them hanging by his side would be idiotic, but where else could they go? So he did what people do when they ride as second passenger on a motorbike: he wrapped his arms around 2d's waist. He could feel 2d stiffen as he did this, but the longer time passed, the more relaxed 2d became, and he leaned back into Murdoc.
When the interview wrapped up the interviewer stood up and took their leave. As soon as the interviewer left Russel snickered.
"You two getting pretty chummy."
2d looked at him in confusion, but Murdoc stuck his tongue out at him. "You wish you had the honor of sitting in my lap." Murdoc unwrapped his arms from 2d's waist and gave his back a light shove. "Alright, fun times over. Get off me."
2d stood up and stretched. "Wow, Murdoc, you make for a soft cushion."
Noodle and Russel let out a laugh while Murdoc stood up, stuffed his hands in his pockets, and glared at them.
"Har har. Laugh it up you two. Let's get going."
