Because how dare Vincent leave before Rody wakes up?

This is very lighthearted and is not accurate to canon.

Work Text:

Rody yawned as he moved the blankets from his face, and subsequently the rest of his being as he rolled himself out of bed. He looked around to try and spot the mystery of a man that he considered his boss, only to find the room absent of the other man's presence. His nose caught a whiff of coffee, alerting him to exactly where his partner was. The auburn haired man waddled out of their shared bedroom, down the hall and towards the kitchen where he knew Vince would be residing, the scent of the coffee gradually stimulating him to alertness.

As he turned the corner, the sight of abysmal eyes observing him made his breath hitch and catch in his throat. Vincent, even though just getting out of bed, was as breathtaking as any other day. It's a complete mystery to Rody on how his boss manages to look so good even with those eyebags that just begged to be rubbed away with kisses, pale skin that would look much better red, hair that looked messy enough for Rody to want to comb his hands through it and-

Rody looked away as he felt his face heat up. He felt the temperature raise even more when he heard a deep chuckle come from Vincent.

Fuck, he was staring for too long.

It wasn’t long before Vincen’t rounded the kitchen island and pulled Rody into his warmth of his embrace, which contradicted the cold hands that wrapped around his waist. He melted easily into Vincent's hold, almost as if he was a pillow made with memory foam, almost like he was made for Vincent's grasp, which he was, and he would fight god if the big man himself said otherwise.

"G'morning Lamoree" Vincent's voice was deeper in the mornings, and if Rody didn't feel emasculated the first time he heard Vince's voice when working at the bistro, then he sure did now.. alongside every other morning that he has woken up with Vincent. Vincent's voice was velvety, it was deep, and rich; the nuances and timbre of Vince's voice added to his allure and overall character. It was no surprise that Rody would hear ladies talk about Vincent's stunning looks and voice that made many ladies , him included despite being a man, melt and swoon.

"Rody?" The waiter was brought back to reality as the chef called his name - his name sounded so good when Vincent said it. Rody hummed in acknowledgement as he smiled warmly at his lover.

"Hmmn! Good Morning Vince!" Rody hummed as Vincent's hold on him loosened and dropped to his waist. He quickly gave Vincent a kiss on the lip before wrapping his arms around the taller man and burying his head into the nook of Vincent's neck. The raven haired man let out a fond chuckle as Rody felt his face warmed again; Vincent's voice sounded even more heavenly the closer Rody was to him.

"What would you like for breakfast?"

Breakfast? Oh right, Neither had eaten yet. Rody mumbled something as he continued to cling to Vince. The taller shook his head and sighed.

"Rody, speak up. I can't make breakfast out of your murmurs." Rody whined at the notion of having to leave his comfort spot before reluctantly pulling away from Vincent's neck. "Omelet and Pancakes. Can I have berries too?" Rody gave Vince a pair of puppy eyes that he knew would get the chef to give the pup what he wanted. As predicted, Vincent sighed, a smile found homage on his face.

"That’s more like it.." Vincent planted a kiss on the top of Rody's head, and oh, oh boy, Rody swears that he started to bake like a loaf of bread. Anytime Vincent held him, kissed him, or even complimented him, he would start to overheat like those big, bulky machines that factories would use to manufacture products at mass. Rody snapped out of his daze when he felt Vince try and pull away from him.

He let out another dissatisfied whined – a protest to what Vincent was trying to do because how dare the man try and leave Rody without his hug– and only held on tighter, uncooperatively keeping Vince from leaving him. The chef sighed and gave Rody a few pats on the head.

"I can't make breakfast for us if you decide to keep clinging. I love you too but we need to eat." Vince's reasoning was enough for Rody to let him go, not without a whine of protest however. Vince rolled his eyes at the shorter man's antics. He handed Rody a cup of coffee that was prepared for Rody in advance. It had creamer; because of course Vince had to keep in mind Rody’s preference and dislikes, keeping in mind that his partner despised all things bitter and avoided eating anything bitter like it was the plague. As the coffee danced onto his lips and flooded his taste buds, he couldn’t help but melt in the sweetness of not only the coffee but also in the sweetness that Vince bothered to remember and prepare it to his liking. Man does Rody need someone to love him… Thank god Vincent is here for that.

While Rody happily drank from his cup, Vince started up the omelets. It was a simple breakfast item and a filling one at that, which was good since Rody happened to have a bigger appetite than most people. The process of making omelets was one that he was familiar with, having made them many times in the past for dorm mates during college. Once he was done with the omelet, he set them aside and started the process of making pancakes.

He found it slightly tedious to have to dose out individual pancakes but it wasn’t something that he minded all too much, especially not if Rody was the one asking him. Once he finished with a good stack of pancakes, he set them aside and beelined for the fridge. He opened it up and was met with an assortment of different ingredients that weren’t there when he had been living alone. Rody needed to have a full meal to be satiated and Vincent couldn’t just feed him air or one of those atrocious smoothies that he would make for himself.

Rody deserved better than that, and Vince was gonna give it to him.

Rody, on the other hand, was watching Vince like the chef was some movie star or dancer. The way the chef maneuvered in the kitchen had Rody mesmerized. Vince's spatial awareness in the kitchen aided him in gliding around like he was an ice skater in an ice rink. Vincent cooked like it was a show, and Rody even picked up some tips along the way such as the way Vince would masterfully garnish the stack of pancakes with butter, maple, and fresh berries before serving it to Rody alongside the omelet.

Rody blinked at the chef a couple of times, seemingly dazed as Vince waited for Rody with expectant eyes. Rody, being somewhat disoriented and sad that his show had ended, thanked Vincent and started to eat. Once those pancakes hit his tongue, it was instant euphoria. Rody let a satisfied noise slip from his lips as he relished in the flavor. The omelet stood even less of a chance at survival against Rody’s onslaught. (Die omelets! DIE!!!!)

Vincent watched Rody eat, satisfied with his work. He turned to the fridge to grab himself a glass of lemon juice, but upon his return, he found Rody staring at him once again with those pleading eyes as well as two pancakes and a small portion of the omelet left. Vince grimaced as he understood Rody’s implication. The big puppy sitting in front of him wanted him to eat. Vince glanced at the food, then back at Rody, then at his glass of lemon.

God has abandoned him, left him to fend for himself against the big puppy and his pleading eyes. Vincent sighed and gave in regardless, otherwise Rody would hold it against him for the entirety of today. Bit by bit, Rody fed Vincent the food, with Vincent having to down most of it using the glass of lemon goodness he got himself. He eventually got through the entire thing, much to his relief and Rody’s pleasure.

Rody then took the plates, and the 3 glasses back to the sink and washed them before placing them on the drying rack. Rody grabbed the ravenet from where he was sitting and brought him to the couch. It was now Rody’s turn to hold him close, to bask in the comfort of being in Vince’s personal space. If Rody had a tail, he could guarantee that it would be slamming into the couch right about now.

Such is the life of two homosexuals. (~ ̄▽ ̄)~
