Work Text:

Pete was laying in his bed, slowly but surely falling asleep when a sound coming from the outside of his window made him go wide awake. He would swear he heard footsteps. But that was not possible. It was almost eleven so there could not be anyone walking around their house.

Not because that wouldn’t be possible but because if there would be someone walking around their house at this late hour Pete would die of how scared he would be in that situation.

Pete was frozen with fear, too scared to even breathe to not miss any sounds. Then he whimpered quietly when he definitely did hear a sound outside of his window. He heard the sound of a branch cracking outside, very, very close to his window.

Pete had no idea what he should do. Should he go wake up his parents? Should he call the police? Should he hide under the blanket or even better under his bed?

All of that sounded good but the issue was that Pete would need to move for being able to do any of those things. Moving didn’t seem like an option for him at that moment. Pete was sure he forgot how to do that. Moving? What’s that? Never heard of her.

He had a moment where a spark of bravery struck and he brought himself to turn his head to the window. He regretted he didn’t close his curtains that night because he could see outside just fine. And anyone would be able to see inside… ok maybe they would not be able to, the room was quite dark.

Pete’s heart missed a beat… or a few of them when a silhouette showed up outside of his window.

Someone was definitely standing there.

Pete gripped his blanket he was clenching to while looking there. He never thought he would die like that. Was he really going to die while wearing his sleeping shirt with the cutest little bunny on it and matching shorts with carrots?

While he was looking at the silhouette it looked more and more familiar the longer he was looking at it. Then the silhouette quietly knocked on his window.

Why would be… whatever or whoever that is sneaking around people's houses knocking on their window? Why would they want the people inside to know that they are outside?

Pete frowned a bit and when the silhouette raised its hand and tapped on the window again he slowly sat up while still looking at his window. When the silhouette tapped on the window for the third time Pete brought himself to get out of the bed and go to the window.

When he moved the curtain aside and saw Vegas there he was sure that the night could not get any weirder.

Vegas smiled at him and gestured to him to open the window.

“What are you doing here?” Pete asked super quietly since he didn’t want to wake up his parents.

“I am here for you, of course,” Vegas smiled.

“What?” Pete asked and moved back when Vegas began to climb through the window. He made it look really easy but Pete was sure if he would try something like that he would end up with some broken bones.

“We are waiting for you,” Vegas said quietly.

“I told you I can not go. It’s way too late, Vegas!” Pete shook his head.

Vegas, Tay and Time decided to hang out after the dark. The others were either busy or didn’t want to risk getting in trouble so it was only the three of them left and Vegas wanted Pete to come as well but Pete told him that there was no way his parents would let him go anywhere at that hour.

“Come on, Pete… it will be fun I promise,” Vegas moved closer and stroked Pete’s cheek.

“Mom and dad will kill me, Vegas.”

“Only if they will find out. Which they will not, don't worry.”

“Why can’t we do this during the day?”

“Because this will be more fun,” Vegas shrugged. “Have you never snuck out before?”

“Do I look like someone who is sneaking outside after dark?”

“Good point my, little innocent angel,” Vegas admitted and Pete rolled his eyes in amusement.

The light on the hallway turned on and someone was walking towards the door.

Pete panicked and forced Vegas to hide behind the bed so in case someone was going to enter the room they would not see Vegas there.

The door did in fact open and Pete’s dad peaked in the room.

“Pete? I thought I heard something. What’s going on? Why aren’t you asleep?” the man asked, concerned.

“I… I just… I was feeling a bit too warm so I… went to open the window,” Pete said the first thing that came to his mind.

“Oh… ok,” the man smiled, glad that his son wasn’t feeling sick or something. “Go to sleep ok? It’s crazy late, buddy,” he added with a smile and Pete nodded and kept smiling at his dad until the door closed again.

When the light that was coming from under Pete’s door was turned off again, Pete knew that his dad returned to their bedroom. When Pete was sure it was really safe he breathed out with relief while Vegas was standing up.

“See? I can’t go. I need to go to sleep,” Pete told his boyfriend who had no idea how Pete could be so Goddamn cute.

“I promise you will have fun, Pete,” Vegas moved closer and smiled when he noticed the cute bunny on Pete’s shirt. He ran his finger over the nose of the bunny, unable not to do that.

Pete, when he realized what he was wearing, blushed and crossed his hands over his chest to hide the picture.

“It’s cute,” Vegas smiled.

“Uh-huh…” Pete nodded a bit while cringing, silently cursing at not wearing more mature pajamas.

“So what Pete? Will you come with me? Please?” Vegas asked quietly and lifted his hand to Pete’s cheek.

“What if mom and dad will find out?” Pete asked nervously.

“They will not. I will get you back on time. They will not know about anything, I promise.

Pete bit his lower lip while thinking about it. “Ok,” he said quietly and Vegas smiled at hearing that and leaned closer to kiss him.

“Great. Let’s go. I’ll help you to climb…” Vegas pulled Pete towards the window, ready to help him climb out but Pete managed to stop him.

“Vegas…” Pete laughed quietly while gesturing to his pajamas.

“Oh right… sorry,” Vegas laughed a bit.

Pete went to a chair where he had some of his clothes. When he found a shirt and pants he hoped would be better than bunny pajamas he looked at Vegas gesturing him to turn around so he could get change.

Vegas smiled at that but spun around to give Pete some privacy, even though he would not see much in the dark room anyway.

Pete quickly stripped down to his underwear and even quicker got dressed before he walked up to Vegas.

“I’ll have to go in my slippers,” Pete muttered. His shoes were by the front door and if he would want to go get them he might wake up his parents. He was glad that his slippers were relatively normal looking, black with a few colorful small flowers on them. It was actually something people might wear as outside shoes so Pete didn’t feel that weird about going out while wearing that.

“Shall we?” Vegas reached out his hand to Pete, ready to help him to climb outside of the window.

“Wait,” Pete shook his head, went to his desk and with the help of the moonlight scribbled something on a piece of paper and then went to place the paper on his bed.

“In case… in case mom and dad will find out I am not here. I don’t want them to think something happened to me.”

“You are a wonder, you know that? Never change, Pete Saengtham,” Vegas smiled and Pete blushed while going to the window.

“Maybe take the slippers off now. It might be better to put them on once you are outside. I’ll go first and help you get down, ok?” Vegas said and easily slipped out of the window. Pete handed Vegas the slippers and Vegas placed them in the grass before he began to help Pete to get down safely. While crawling out of the window Pete was really glad that their house has only one floor.

“Well done,” Vegas said with a smile when Pete was standing next to him.

Pete smiled at him before he put on the shoes. “Just be quiet, ok?” he told Vegas while he followed him.

They began to quietly sneak by the windows until they were far enough from Pete’s house.

Pete’s dad watched them from the window of their bedroom and shook his head in amusement while watching the two heading towards two other boys that were waiting for them.

“What’re you doing? Why aren’t you in bed?” the mom began to wake up.

“Nothing’s going on, honey. I am just going to the bathroom. Go back to sleep,” the dad whispered and left the bedroom.

He entered Pete’s room and when he saw the open window he went there and closed it so it was semi opened, Pete will still be able to get back inside once he’ll get back.

When the dad was heading to the door he noticed a sheet of paper on Pete’s bed and went to take a closer look. He smiled fondly when he saw the message from Pete.

Dear mom and dad,
I am sorry if you got scared when you saw me not being here.
I am alright, don’t worry.
I will be back soon, I promise.
Also I am not alone, Vegas is with me

-Love Pete”

The dad laughed a bit before he got up to get a pen.

“I told you Vegas will talk him into coming here,” Time gently elbowed Tay.

“You are a terrible influence on him, Vegas,” Tay shook his head in disappointment.

“Agree,” Pete said, knowing he would never sneak out like that on his own.

Vegas chuckled and pulled Pete closer to himself while walking towards their friends.

“Come here our cute little rebel,” Tay pulled Pete in a hug when he was in his reach.

“I am not a rebel.”

“But you sure are cute,” Time shrugged and Pete rolled his eyes, not bothering to come up with any reply to that.

Vegas pulled Pete away from Tay so he could wrap his arm around Pete's waist as all four of them headed to the park to just sit down, talk and have fun.

When they decided they were out long enough, Vegas walked Pete back to his home and helped him climb back inside before thanking him for joining them.

Pete was watching Vegas leaving, unable to stop smiling. He still couldn’t believe he let Vegas talk him into sneaking out but he was glad he did it. It was fun and no one got hurt so everything was alright.

Pete went to change back into pajamas and went to bed but got a bit surprised to see the note he wrote for his parents there, because it was definitely not where Pete left it. Pete reached for the lamp on his nightstand.

When he saw the note his eyes widened in shock.

Dear Pete,
Thank you for your message.
It was very considerate of you.
I hope you had fun with your friends.

-Love dad

Pete swallowed nervously, not sure if the reply wasn’t just a sarcasm and if his parents will not get angry at him for sneaking out, if Pete’s dad told his mom about it that is.

He had no way of knowing that until the morning so he placed the note on the nightstand and switched the light off.

“Good morning, honey,” Pete’s mom smiled while making the breakfast when Pete entered the kitchen.

Ok, she probably doesn’t know then, Pete thought to himself while greeting her.

“Morning son. How did you sleep?” Pete’s dad greeted him as well while drinking his coffee and reading the newspapers.

Pete saw the little bit teasing smile his dad was trying to hide while asking that so Pete felt that his dad wasn’t angry about Pete leaving the house in the middle of the night.

“I… good, I slept well,” Pete nodded while taking the breakfast his mom was giving him and went to sit down at the table.

“That’s good. A full night rest is very important for a young lad such as you,” the dad nodded.

Pete took a bite of his breakfast to hide his amusement at seeing that his dad was having way too much fun about Pete’s little adventure.

The dad watched his wife leave the room and made sure she was really gone before he put down the newspaper and leaned closer to Pete. “You were not doing anything stupid or dangerous, right?” he asked quietly.

“No. No, we just went to the park and… you know just sat there and talked,” Pete assured him and the dad nodded, glad to hear that.

“I think Vegas is a great influence on you,” the dad smiled.

“What? Really? Even after… tonight?” Pete laughed a bit.

“Hell yeah. I was really getting worried, Pete. You’re fifteen and haven’t gotten yourself in proper trouble yet. I was seriously starting to question whether or not you’re my son,” the dad nodded so seriously Pete just had to start laughing and his dad joined him.

“So am I in trouble then?” Pete asked when he and his dad stopped laughing.

“You left the note so I don’t see a reason for it,” the dad smiled and Pete smiled back at him.

“Have you ever done that? Leave in the middle of the night?” Pete asked curiously.

“You bet I did. I sneaked out to go see your mom. I crawled out of the window and walked all the way to the next village,” the dad nodded.

“What did she do?” Pete wanted to know.

“I didn’t even see him that night. Your dad was knocking on the wrong window,” the mom said amused when she returned to the room. “I must say my parents were as surprised to see him there as he was to see them,” she added and Pete laughed at the image.

“What did grandpa and grandma do? Were they mad?” Pete looked at his dad.

“They were not happy… but they let me stay and sleep on the couch instead of letting me walk all the way back,” Dad laughed a bit.

“Any reason why you are sharing your criminal activity stories with our son, honey?” the mom looked at her husband while going to the table.

“Nope,” the dad shook his head.

“No?” the mom raised her eyebrows and took the note out of her pocket and placed it on the table. “If you want to sneak out without anyone knowing about it you have to hide the evidence, Pete. I was taking the clean laundry to your room and saw this on your nightstand,” she placed her hands on Pete’s shoulders and leaned down to kiss his hair.

“Damn it, Pete. This is 101 of misbehaving. Always hide the evidence, did Porsche not teach you anything?” the dad said, trying to sound angry but all he managed to do was to make his son and his wife laugh.

“What were you up to anyway, Pete?” the mom asked while sitting down at the table.

“He said they were doing drugs and getting drunk,” the dad said and laughed at how quickly Pete shook his head to deny that. The mom didn’t believe his husband a single word since she knew Pete knows better than doing stuff like that.

“No, we were just out. In the park, just talking,” Pete told his mom what they were really doing.

“Who’s we?” she asked.

“Who do you think?” the dad chuckled.

“I mean obviously it’s Vegas but was there anyone else with you? Any of the boys?” the mom looked at Pete.

“Only Tay and Time,” Pete said.

“Not Porsche?” she asked, surprised. “Oh, right he and his family went to visit his uncle, right?” she remembered.

“Otherwise he would sure be there as well,” the dad said.

“Most likely,” Pete nodded. He was really happy that his parents took his little rebellion so well and didn’t want to punish him for it. He was glad that they clearly trust him enough to know he knows what he can and can not do.
