Chapter Text
Mike and Roddy were sitting alone in the studio. Mike held some papers with scribbles that seemed to be lyrics to a song.
He reread the scribbles for probably the billionth time and slowly his expression turned into a proud smile.
"This will make for a good track. What do you think, ma-"
Roddy poked his arm before he could finish the sentence.
"Hey Mike?"
The singer turned his head to the left and saw his friend staring at him intensely.
"What is it?"
"Have you ever kissed a guy before?"
Mike was a bit surprised by such a random question, but he decided to answer it with complete honesty, since he knew Roddy wouldn't judge him no matter the answer.
"I kiss my bro Trevor when we perform sometimes, but only as a joke. It doesn't count when it's just for the act, right?"
The keyboard player was amused by the response.
"I suppose it doesn't."
"Why did you ask anyway?"
Roddy became visibly nervous when he heard the question, but he took a deep breath and tried to seem calm.
"Well, I have and it was absolutely incredible." Patton started chuckling at the answer, "don't you ever think of checking how that feels? Not as a joke, but seriously?"
The vocalist raised his eyebrow.
"What are you implying?"
"I would like to check something. You wouldn't mind if I kissed you real quick, would you?" as discreetly as possible, Roddy started getting closer to his friend.
Mike contemplated the thought for a mere few seconds and, with almost no hesitation, he responsed:
"Sure, why not."
"Really?"
"Yeah, but you'll owe me a favor after that."
The keyboardist gently put his hand on his friend's face and moved it closer to his. When their mouths were inches apart, it was only then when Patton felt just the tiniest bit of doubt about what they were doing.
Their lips touched for a brief moment before going into a full-blown kiss. Roddy was trying to be as gentle as possible, but there was enough pure desire in the way he kissed Mike that the vocalist noticed it very quickly. However, he didn't really mind and refused to let the other go.
*******
Five minutes later...
***********
The two friends did not stop for even a moment, other than letting each other take a small breath every once in a while. Their kiss deepened with every minute. Roddy was cupping the singer's face while said singer's hands were wrapped around his neck. When they finally stopped, Mike's has had already been laying on the floor for a few minutes, since it got in the way of their totally-experimental-and-nothing-more kissing session.
The keyboard player smiled softly, caressing his friend's face with one hand.
"What do you think?" he asked.
The vocalist had to take a few moments to comprehend what just happened. After he had regained the ability to articulate a thought, a smile appeared on his face too.
"That was a funny joke, I must admit" he murmured, still holding his friend in his embrace.
"Joke?" Roddy was confused. "It wasn't meant to be funny."
Mike's brain stopped working once again again.
"So... you just wanted to check how it feels, right?"
The keyboardist sighed.
"To be honest, it wasn't really a joke nor an experiment.... I just wanted to kiss you." he admitted, his face even more red than before.
Patton took his hands off Roddy's neck and looked away, not sure how to react. The keyboardist let go off his face and moved away a bit to give his friend some space.
"Selfish asshole." Mike mumbled, avoiding eye contact.
Listen, I'm sorry for lying to you."
" It was a dumb lie honestly, I thought you were better than that."
The vocalist looked back into his friend's eyes. He tried to seem truly offended so he didn't say anything else for the next few minutes, just to mentally torture Roddy a bit and make him second-guess himself. It seemed to be working quite well - Bottum stared at him, visibly worried. After that very long couple of minutes Mike decided to break the silence, speaking in a carefree tone:
"You have such beautiful fucking eyes."
"What?"
"Yeah. I've never thought of what my favourite colour could be, but if somebody asked about it right now, my answer would be that particular shade of blue."
The keyboard player blushed slightly, not very convinced.
"You don't really mean that, do you?"
"Why do you think so?"
"I can tell when you're being sarcastic, Mike."
"Is it still sarcasm if I do this?"
Patton grabbed his friend's shoulders and kissed him. It was just for a moment, but it felt like an eternity. Mike pulled away, even though he sensed that his friend definitely wanted it to last longer, which made him smile. It was a bit sadistic, but he was very much enjoying messing with the keyboardist.
"Woah."
Due to how surprised he was, that was Bottum's response to the situation.
"I actually didn't come up with that thing I said about your eyes." - the singer admitted, just a tiny bit embarrassed before returning to his usual smirk, "I read it in a poetry book, but I see that it worked on you anyway. I'm a fucking genius."
Roddy chuckled and grabbed his friend's chin. His touch was harsher than usual which made Patton blush, completely against his will.
"That was pretty fucking stupid, but at least you're a good kisser."
"Heh. You're not that bad either. Better than the girl I made out with last week."
"I'm glad you think so." the keyboard player laughed and let go of his friend's chin, just to cup his face again.
Mike placed his hands on Roddy's hips and stared into his eyes. He might have not made up the thing he said about them earlier, but after taking a good close look at them, he decided they really were that beautiful.
At a moment when they weren't expecting it at all, their band mates came back to the studio. The first one to enter the room was Jim, who looked around and immediately noticed the pair, causing him to loudly exclaim:
"What the actual fu-"
