Chapter Text
And there were the three newly orphaned Starks. I mean, the three young people there obviously had more than one surname, due to their late mother Lyanna's numerous relationships. Ada Stark Baratheon, sixteen years old, from her first marriage to Robert Baratheon, Lysander Stark Targaryen, the result of an affair that ended her first marriage, and finally the youngest of the three brothers: Zuri Stark Velaryon, thirteen years old, in whom Lyanna was literally with his father until "death did them part" and in this case, death did not separate them but brought them together, since Lyanna and Corlys Velaryon - "The sea serpent" as he was called in the motorcycle club he founded - died together in the fatal car accident.
Beside them, his three extremely loyal dogs who never left him; Watercolor Ada's dog, Rock, Zuri's female dog and Lispector, Lysander's female dog. The three being "mutts", unlike the breed dogs with wolf origins and characteristics, that the Starks had, on the rare occasions that the brothers' mother talking about the family. And this was an aspect of the Starks that Lyanna couldn't unlink: their great affection for animals, especially dogs, making their children have their own.
Aquarela was a mix of "Golden Retriever" with another breed that Ada couldn't identify: he had a large, black coat, with the humor and energy of a Golden, like Ada was. This name is because Ada loves drawing and painting.
Rock had small similarities with the "Labrador" dog breed, had a brown color and only three legs (the second factor that made Zuri adopt her from the dog shelter in addition to the instant connection they had, for this detail to remember the album cover " Tripod" from "Alice in Chains"), energetic like Aquarela, but curious like Zuri herself. The reason for this name is due to Zuh's passion for Rock'n'roll
And Lispector looked a little like a "Border Collie", with few physical differences from this breed. Just like Aquarela and Rock, Lispector also looked like his owner; intelligent and persistent, in addition to being somewhat phlegmatic. Named after the writer Clarice Lispector.
"There's still time to run..." The girl who identified as non-binary and was aligned with both binary and neutral genders, commented. "We can run, hitch a ride and become nomads!"
Lysander, the middle son and the most responsible with a hint of arrogance inherited (although he would never admit it) by his father Rhaegar Targaryen, snorted, rolling his eyes.
"Zuri, do you really think we would have a good life if we did this foolish thing? At best, we would starve to death, and that's the best, imagine the worst?!" The boy retorted, making Ada roll her eyes along with her sister.
"Can you two stop arguing at least for a moment? I spent the entire ride from our old house to here listening to you two fighting! Lysan, you know that Zuh is a little exaggerated and is scared... Our mother didn't have a good relationship with our uncle, and always talked about how he was traditionalist, had a heightened sense of honor and many other things that our mother wasn't. Of course, they're scared!" Ada hugged her sister sideways, messing up their short shaved hair, to reinforce a more androgynous gender expression.
"Well, I don't care!" The slender boy, with almost white blond hair in a cut reminiscent of Leonardo DiCaprio in "Titanic", gray eyes, a dark academy look with a formal white shirt, a black and white checkered vest, brown tailored pants and Blucher moc shoes of the same color, pressed the intercom button without even asking his sisters.
"Lysander! We weren't ready yet!" Ada, with her long black curly hair, deep blue eyes and her flushed skin from loving sunbathing while drawing, exclaimed irritably. She wore a moss green cardigan, white jeans, light brown all star sneakers and a beige beret, as she was a fan of Goblincore aesthetics and lifestyle.
"We have to go quickly, like a bandage. The faster the pain goes away." He smiled sarcastically.
A somewhat hoarse and monotonous voice erupted from the intercom; "Stark Residence. What can I help you with?"
Once again, before any protest from his brothers, Lysander responded promptly.
"We are Eddard Stark's nephews. Ada, Lysander and Zuri."
"Oh, Mr. Stark had indeed mentioned the arrival of the three of you. I will open the gate."
And with a roar of metal, the large steel gate was slowly opened, now showing in more detail, the Starks' large neo-Gothic mansion.
"Holy fuck..." Zuri, with her beautiful brown eyes as dark as the night, black skin, the same face shape as her father who she was extremely close to, loose shirt from the band "Def Leppard", ripped black jeans and black combat boots, making him centimeters larger than his age, said with his mouth open. "Look, my idea of running away is still available... What if he's a twisted and evil kind of Doctor Caligari?!"
"Doctor Caligari?" Ada asked confused.
"A character from a horror film, where he was one of the pioneers of German Expressionism..." Lysan, who was a lover of studies, answered her. "Zuri, you really have to stop watching these horror movies, as well as these rock, punk and metal bands, with the exception of the goths who at least have real culture, unlike these first three genres which I cannot call music!"
"Pay close attention to how you talk about these musical genres that are the best! Black Sabbath, Twisted Sister, Iron Maiden and much more are better than this diva of yours that you put on a pedestal!" The boy retorted angrily at his brother.
"Now I tell you; don't you dare talk about Madonna! She was a pioneer ahead of her time, as well as being the queen of pop!" Lysander turned to his youngest brother, irritated by his stubbornness.
"What part of "stop fighting", don't you two understand?! I'm already tired of this! We should be united since our mother's accident!" Ada exclaimed impatiently.
Lysander and Zuri have always been polar opposites (while Ada fell in the middle of that line), like her mother Lyanna and her uncle Eddard were. This was practically an irony of fate: Lyanna's son had gained many characteristics from his family, which she had cut ties with since they discovered her affair with Rhaegar, and she began a dogma-free life in which the Starks were still very much arrested. Lyanna was a feminist metalhead and activist for numerous causes, participating in many marches and protests, from the most peaceful to the more radicals. And it was at one of these protests, to complain about the violence against the black community, that she met her soulmate who had the same fair and rebel spirit - despite the big age difference - as Lyanna, Corlys, Zuri's father.
As the brothers fought among themselves, they did not notice the large imposing figure that had walked towards them. Eddard looked at his nephews with his arms crossed, an eyebrow raised as his gray eyes analyzed the children he always wanted to meet, but due to differences with his sister, never had the opportunity. Ned had his hair a little gray, still above his shoulders like when he was young, his beard was freshly trimmed and a more casual look to welcome his new charges.
Ada's gaze was the first to meet Ned's, who smiled when he saw the similarities that Lyanna's firstborn had with her. The girl elbowed each of her brothers, making them complain until they noticed their uncle in front of they.
"Welcome..." Eddard spoke to the three in front of him, with the best warm smile he could muster.
