Work Text:

Lucy had found herself in a predicament. She had left work around 3, telling Sergeant Grey she wasn’t feeling well and needed to use some sick time. But, when she got home, she went to rummage through the medicine cabinet in her bathroom. After a few minutes of stifling through numerous bottles and boxes, she came to the realization that somehow, she had no cold or flu medicine, and was feeling like she was gonna meet her creator very soon.

She could just ask Celina, but she knew that she was working overtime with Nolan tonight, and besides everything probably being closed by the time she’d get back home, Lucy didn’t want to bother her with going out of her way, knowing Celina usually collapsed in her bed after those types of shifts,

Lucy had a few options, One, she could just DoorDash some, but she didn’t want to spend 30$ on some cough drops and cold and flu medicine. Two, she could just get her own ass up and get some, but right now she was starting to think the floor in front of the medicine cabinet was going to be her new home. Three, the option she really didn’t want to have to go through with, but was looking like the best option, was asking Tim if he could bring her something to help aid her ailments, knowing he had the day off.

They were slowly but steadily building back up into a place where they could communicate, but she knows she’s gonna need time to let him back in after breaking her heart, and that he still needs time to forgive himself for everything that's happened throughout his life.

4:48pm: tim, are you busy?

No, I heard you called out sick though, are you okay?

just got the bug going around the station, thats all

but i was wondering if you could bring me my usual cold medicine and cough drops? there's nothing for colds at the apartment, and i really don’t want to bother Celina after her overtime

Of course, I’ll be there in 30.

Just because we can’t be together right now, doesn’t mean I won’t come when you need me. I always will

thank you, ❤️

A part of her almost thought that he wouldn't come, even though half of her was expecting the response she got. Lucy dragged herself off of the bathroom floor, put on something slightly more presentable than her uniform undershirt and her underwear, reaching in her drawers for some sweatpants, and an oversized t-shirt.

She decided to Lay on the couch till Tim came, knowing getting out of her bed and going to the door was a lot more movement than she was capable of at the moment.

About 25 minutes Later, Lucy woke up with a start to a familiar knock on her door, and relief that she would finally be getting relief from her sore throat, fever and headache. She dragged herself off the couch, opening the door to face Tim, a slight smile on his face at the sight of her and a CVS bag in his hand.

“You’re a lifesaver, literally.” She said before taking the bag from his hand and going to place it on her kitchen island.

“Do you want me to leave?” Tim said, aware of the walls up between them in the past month.

“Stay? Just until the medicine kicks in, or I fall asleep from it?” Lucy said, her eyes pleading him not to turn around and walk out.

“Okay, what else do you need?” He said, coming further into the apartment and closing the front door behind him.

“Do you think you can make the tea you always make when I get sick? I think I still have everything for it.”

“Yeah, of course.” Tim said, going straight for her kettle and then to her cabinets.

They both could still feel a slight tension in the air, since the last time he was in her kitchen she told him to leave, and the time before that they were at their happy normal, before that call left everything crashing down.

Lucy went back to lay down on the couch, unable to shake the feeling of everything back back to normal, even just for a second, when she felt the familiar, horrible feeling of bile rising in her throat, as she sprinted off to her bathroom.

She was in the middle of emptying the contents (hardly any) of her stomach, when she felt two familiar hands on her, one holding her hair in a ponytail, and the other rubbing soothing circles into her back.

“Here.” Tim’s voice behind her said, pressing a water bottle into her hand.

“Thanks.” Lucy said, while leaning back and letting her head fall onto Tim’s shoulder.

“I swear you’ve gotten sick every other month this year.” Tim said, expecting a response, then looking down to see she had fallen asleep against him. He got up, carried her to what used to be their bed, and placed her down, tucking her in and leaving a kiss to her forehead. He then went into the kitchen to get the tea he had made for her, placing it on her nightstand.

Even though he didn’t necessarily want to, Tim knew he had to leave, but before he did, he left a note on her nightstand, then leaving her apartment.

A few hours later, Lucy woke up to the smell of her favorite tea and the lingering smell of Tim, looking at her nightstand, surprised to see he left a note

There's still some tea left in the kettle, and if you’re still tomorrow, I have some soup I can drop off
-Love, Tim

She smiled at the note, realizing this was him paying her back in small doses. Maybe not now, maybe not for a while, she knew someday they could find their way back to eachother.
