Chapter Text

“Castle Lauranthal sure is beautiful.” Scarlet said as she and Alain walked through the elven capital. Originally, the priestess had planned this to be a date, with only the two of them, but alas….

“Our close proximity to Ervélda means not only that we hear the laughter of the Fae on the wind, it also blesses us with pure waters and verdant trees.” Lhinalagos had offered himself as a guide through the city, and Alain had gladly accepted.
Scarlet couldn’t offer a suitable reason to refuse, so her hopes of having Alain all to herself were dashed.

“I have to say, I am more than impressed by the city planning. Elheims cities are wholly different from those in Drakenhold.” Gilbert said. “Our people could learn a lot from each other.”
The young king saw the three of them as they were leaving the castle and promptly approached Alain regarding a strategy for the next battle, only for Alain to ask him to join them.

“Naturally,” Lhinalagos answered Gilbert. “Our Turénos hopes that the relations between our countries will improve considerably after the war.”
“Heh, now that’s something. You elves have always been rather insular, behind the Winding Woods protection.” Gilbert answered with a smile, not really paying attention to where he was going.

With a soft smile, Alain took Gilbert's hand in his own. “Once we have beaten Zenoira, we will begin a new age of peace for our continent. That is what we fight for.”
As if to answer, Gilbert turned to Alain. However, the young king glanced at their joined hands, and with a blush, he averted his face. “A-as you say. We need to bury the past so that we may walk towards the future.”

“Such a brazen display of affection!” Scarlet thought to herself. Well, if that’s how King Gilbert wanted to play, she would show him what a real contender for Alains heart could do.
With the force of 10 years of friendship, Scarlet took Alains hand and pressed herself at his side.
“Can we not talk about the war for one day?” She asked, with a cute pout. “Let’s just relax today, allright Alain? You need to relax sometimes too!”

“You’re right Scarlet. I have been thinking only about the war recently. Some relaxation truly may be in order.”
“Well, you’re in luck my friend.” Lhinalagos placed both his hands on Alains shoulder and pointed to a nearby house. “This is the most cozy tavern in all of Lauranthal.”
As Alain smiled back at the Elven Archer, Scarlet started thinking that maybe she should have also looked to the men for potential love rivals.
