Work Text:
Cassandra awoke with a splitting headache. It wasn't abnormal for her to do so. No matter what she did she was always prone to them. Maybe it was a side effect of her tumor maybe it wasn't, but whatever caused them didn't matter. Only the fact that they made her miserable did. She took a dose of her pain medication and stumbled her way through getting dressed.
Once that was taken care of she went out of her room to get ready for the rest of her day. Work did not stop just because she was in pain. And neither did the fact she needed to eat. Which meant seeing if there was anything she would be able to stomach in the kitchen. Which was a toss up. There was no telling what she would be able to eat or not.
She opened the fridge hoping there would be something she could just drink. But there were no signs of her meal drinks. She must have drunk them all and not gotten more.
A sigh escaped her and she went to close the door, hoping to find something elsewhere. But a flash of pink caught her eye. It was a sticky note with her name on it in bold letters, stuck onto a container. She grabbed it and pulled it out. Inside the container she could see segments of peeled clementines. One of her favorite fruits that she almost never had the energy to prepare for herself when she needed them.
Another smaller note was stuck to the back of the container. It read "Thought you might need this today" in Ezekiel's handwriting.
Cassandra smiled at the gesture. It had been months ago that she had complained about how frustrating citrus was due to how the peels irritated her skin and here was the evidence that he had not only listened, but remembered and knew her well enough to spot when she would need the small gesture. It was a small thing but meant the world to her.
She took her fruit to find somewhere to eat and plan a way to return the gesture later.
