Hey guys me back at it again because I can't seem to leave these two alone recently!!!
(also i need your help with what to write but more about that in the end notes!)

Hope you enjoy this fluffy little one-shot.

This has mentions of events that take place in my other fic, The Plan, but can totally just be read as standalone!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Obi-Wan smiled softly as he heard the apartment door open and then slam shut, hearing an annoyed huff immediately after.

Anakin had messaged him earlier that afternoon about meditating with Master Plo as soon as he got out of it, the hurried messages going along the lines of, “UGH, Obi. I miss you. Adulting sucks. See you soon.”

Obi-Wan couldn’t help but chuckle at the datapad when he received it. Although being 25, Anakin was still extremely childish at heart, and while Obi-Wan was constantly reprimanding him for it, it was one of the qualities he loved most about Anakin.

Obi-Wan often took time to reflect on their relationship. He usually did it after meditating, his tranquil state often helping his thoughts flow freely. Sometimes, he thinks about that week.

That one hellish week, where each man nervously avoided the other. Anakin, believing he was unworthy of receiving affection, and Obi-Wan believing he was unworthy of giving it.

Thinking back on it now, Obi-Wan realised they had both been incredibly dense, each Jedi pining as much as the other.

That week had left them both with some long-lasting effects, however Anakin had the hardest time recovering from the ordeal. Although Obi-Wan had soothed most of Anakin’s fears and insecurities, he would sometimes catch Anakin growing distant again.

It happened especially in the first few weeks of their relationship, when the prospect was budding and new and exciting. Anakin had been more withdrawn, not wanting to ask for physical affection. Obi-Wan, having learnt from his previous mistakes, however, still handed out his love freely to Anakin, even when unprompted.

For that, Obi-Wan had found out in a late-night talk with his partner, Anakin had been incredibly grateful. Anakin confessed that it was Obi-Wan who had made him feel worthy, feel loved again, and as the time went by, Anakin had started to believe it without the need to be convinced of it. He knew he was loved, and it felt so natural to him, to the
both of them.

Of course, Anakin still had his off-days, days where he believed that he was no good, that the Jedi Order was mad for even considering him. Days where he shied away from touch, believing that he was simply a burden, and that there was no way anyone would actually willingly put up with him.

But the difference was, the thing that separated these days from the weeks of anguished isolation Anakin had faced as a teenager, was that Obi-Wan was always there for him.

He was there, unwaveringly and unconditionally. He soothed Anakin’s anxieties, made him know that he was cared for. He did everything he could. And it was enough. Those days had decreased lately, more and more until they only usually happened around once a month.

And Obi-Wan was so fucking proud of Anakin for it.

Even thinking of it then, in that moment sitting on the sofa with datapad in hand, Obi-Wan couldn’t suppress another smile at the thought of how far Anakin had come in the years of being together.

The corners of his lips were still slightly upturned when the man in question, his love, his one and only, walked into the room.

He was wearing his black tunic that Obi-Wan so dearly loved, and, even now, in the domestic years of partnership, the fiery passion of new romance simmered down into a warm ember of affection, Obi-Wan couldn’t help the small flutter his heart gave.

Anakin, slightly distractedly, gave Obi-Wan a grin as he walked towards him, bending down to press a light kiss to the corner of Obi-Wan’s mouth. Throwing an arm around the man on the sofa’s shoulders, Anakin fit his head in the crook of Obi-Wan’s neck and murmured, “Missed you today,” words slightly muffled by the soft robe Obi-Wan was wearing.

He could feel the light vibrations shoot up his back, and Obi-Wan sighed contentedly. Placing his datapad down and wrapping his arm around Anakin’s back, he smoothed his hand up and down over the leather tunic, pressing another kiss to Anakin’s head before pulling away.

Anakin immediately started talking, stumbling tiredly to the kitchen to put his bag down on the table, “Ugh, Obi-Wan,” Anakin dragged out his name, making sure that Obi-Wan knew how fatigued he was by the exhausted whine alone.

Anakin continued nattering as he dragged his feet back into the living room, beelining for Obi-Wan just as he had done a minute prior. Obi-Wan had almost no time to prepare as suddenly he felt the weight of Anakin flop onto him.

Both men let out a quiet “Oomf!” at the move, Anakin readjusting himself so he lay with his head on Obi-Wan’s chest.

He visibly relaxed in the older man’s arms, practically melting into the touch, letting out a soft noise, almost a whimper, as Obi-Wan brought his free hand up to Anakin’s head, carding through the soft hair and scratching lightly at Anakin’s scalp in a way he knew the man loved.

Anakin continued talking about his day, but Obi-Wan wasn’t really listening, enraptured by the complete trust flowing through their open bond, not a shield up in sight.

His heart bloomed as Anakin’s head lifted slightly and nose scrunched as he yawned, flopping his head back down on Obi-Wan as he continued speaking, slightly more mumbled.

Obi-Wan did try and pay attention to the story, but it was difficult, as the warmth enveloping him made all his senses go warmly fuzzy.

Still, fighting off sleep, Obi-Wan tried to actually pay attention to his hearing, but when he finally came out of the warm haze he’d been avoiding, he found that all he could hear was a light snoring coming from where Anakin was laying on his midsection.

Obi-Wan’s heart just about melted.

Pushing the fringe off of Anakin’s forehead, Obi-Wan’s lips upturned slightly, matching the cause of his affection. Anakin’s mouth was wrapped in a small, subconscious smile. He was content.

And so was Obi-Wan.

In their little bubble, nothing could harm them. Here, with the last golden rays of the afternoon sun pouring over the two of them, causing Anakin’s eyelashes to fan over his cheeks in a way that made Obi-Wan flustered, there was no danger.

The past was unthought of and the future was something to think about another time, a distant duty.

At that moment, in their own world, together, Obi-Wan and Anakin were one.

Notes:

Ah how was it?!!! Concrit feeds my soul, especially as english isn't my first language, so it really helps me learn not to make the same mistakes again.

SO ABOUT THE WRITING THING. I have three ideas.
-Office AU with Boss!Obi-Wan x Sleep Deprived Secretary!Anakin
-Poly fic with Qui-Gon, Obi and Anakin where Qui and Obi have an argument and they don't realise how much it's affecting Anakin
-Poly fic where Anakin almost gets himself killed to protect Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, they decide to "teach him a lesson" about attachment and basically ignore him for like a week. They don't realise how much this affects Anakin and they are left to pick up the broken pieces once they realise what they'd done.

!!!I WILL PROBABLY STILL WRITE THESE ALL!!! I just want help on which you would be interested in first, since I have no motivation to write atm.
(Also just realised that all of these just involve me beating up poor Ani and calling it content. Oops. [i'll never stop muahahah])

Sorry, I'll stop yapping. hope you enjoyed!
