Chapter Text
Seokmin rubbed his eyes, barely keeping awake for the game that was currently going on.
See, he had a drinking problem— and it was unhealthy considering how young he was, so he used the most random coping mechanisms to get away from alcohol.
Turned out, this would grow to play a huge part in that aswell. He stared at the darkened screen, another obnoxious ad slapping itself in his face.
Draw it — one of the most infuriating games on the planet. Or maybe he just thought that because it was 9 in the evening and he hadn't gotten enough sleep in three days.
A stupid ad had gotten him into this new phase, a reminder of how his childhood used to be when he didn't have to worry about stupid grades and all he had to do to get on with life was install a new stupid game and enjoy himself.
So, now, two days later, he found himself in the top 7000 on the leaderboard. He played at a steady(and, unhealthy) pace since he made the account.
A habituated click of the black 'x' at the top of the ad made him sigh. He needed sleep, and he knew it — but a hollow voice in his brain kept on, saying; 'Just one more, min. You can do it.'
And that's how he clicked on the start button one again.
The loading screen slightly blinded him as it did, and it opened to another set of jobless teenagers playing against him.
josh, coolkid, Sara and 1004.
He sighed again, which he seemed to be doing a lot now, as the first topics appeared on the screen.
Draw a door or an apple .
He absentmindedly traced a rectangle with his finger, a mediocre circle on the side for a doorknob.
Is it a door? It displayed before switching over to a new set.
In the certain milliseconds that were wasted as it refreshed, Seokmin's eyes tiredly looked up. Wait—
W hat the heck?
This josh, guy— he- he... he already had 5 points. It'd — it'd only been one second.
Seokmin gawked, forgetting his own game in the meantime as the timer went down. The stupid ticking of the clock in its last few seconds pulled him out, and he proceeded to fail to draw an ant.
As the leaderboard loaded, the same josh won by a mile. However, something else that caught Seokmin's eye was how this.. 1004, was second. In the time he was spying on josh, he could've sworn that that guy didn't even do anything in the game.
Seokmin was last, of course - having gotten distracted midway, he kind of forgot he wasn't a spectator, but rather a participant.
His sighs gone, and his sleep— thanks to that weird game, he clicked on the start button again.
That's when he saw him again.
joonghwa , 1004 , huihui and josh .
Both of them.
He was determined to win this time, as a sort of immature retribution for what happened last time, so he gave the game his all.
Strawberries after buses after more doors gave way to the ending timer, and Seokmin finally let his shoulders loosen up.
That's when -
1.
josh
2.
1004
3.
dk
What the fuck.
His score had been 8. In one minute. 8!
Glaring his eyes into the screen, he noticed 1004's was 10. And josh's 12. What the fuck.
What the fuck??
Okay, he should've stopped here and now. But now, not only was he angry, but his ego was hurt.
So he pressed play again.
And bam, flashing across the screen, were josh and 1004. And two other people Seokmin did not give two shits about.
Seriously, weren't these all random servers? So why did he keep bumping into them?!
Seokmin decided to play it cool this game— take his own damn time drawing, eyes nowhere on the drawing space, and full attention focused on the little white bar that was josh's screen.
It turned out his mind wasn't fooling him - 1004 didn't draw a single thing, and his score remained at 0 the whole time he was spying on josh. However, the main guy in question— josh himself, took him off guard.
Lines kept being drawn on the mini tab with his name on it, good ones, too— and he noticed thumbs up after thumbs up that showed that the system had guessed it all correct.
At the end of the game, he'd seen all of josh's drawings. And they were all accurate.
Plus, once again— this 1004 was at second place, with 11 points. Without doing anything.
Seokmin was at the bottom, of course. It seemed like that was his place a lot these past few games.
Why was Seokmin this mad about this shit, anyway? It's not like he was gonna meet these two bastards again.
His finger hovered over the play button in the middle of the screen, his half-assedly drawn avatar encouraging him above it.
Sigh.
He took the finger away, and cleared all his apps.
He should sleep.
