And Not One of Them Came to My Aid

Summary:

Dream was right, his family did know what happened to him. Dream was wrong, he was never abandoned.

Notes:

One of Dream's siblings tries to watch over him, in her own way.

Work Text:

She sees him there, white skin behind pale glass, perfect in isolation. Born of empty rooms she cannot come often, but at the changing of the guard she slides into the reflection of his prison panes, watching though he never meets her eye.

She hopes he feels when she reaches out to him, coils around his heart, cradles it softly as she croons to his loneliness. Her twin won’t come, she won’t leave; maybe without its dreams humanity will love her enough to give the power to free her elder brother.

The hook in her lip tastes of raven blood.
