~~*3rd POV*~~ (whole fic)

Raine felt so nervous, like there were a million spiders in their legs. They hated being up there. They hated the crowds and cameras and talking. Being confirmed as head witch is so terrifying, but a reward. Perchance.

They realized that, when they were walking up on the stage thing, it was Darius on the stand. They thought that the one they admired so, the beloved Emperor Belos, was going to be the one to confirm them, but they must have been sorely mistaken, or at least, lied to, by the one in front of them now, that purple guy.

Announcer lady: and we’re back LIVE at the emperor's castle. In light of Scooter Crane’s retirement, today’s ceremony will confirm Raine Whispers…

“Okay Raine it’s time,” they thought to themself as they stepped towards Darius holding the little bard medal. “Just say something. Anything. I can’t mess this up.” And their imagination wandered to what they wanted the ceremony to be.

~~*imagine*~~

It’s during the ceremony and Raine steps up to the stage with Emperor Belos there too. His mask-uline (teehee) mask is polished just for them. They’re so scared and fragile and nervous and fragile but they had to say something. The emperor would put his strong and firm hand on their back and whisper sweetly. “Don't worry about anything, my love. You will do fine. Just focus on my voice and everything will go accordingly.” he would purr with his gruff vocal chords.

Literally everyone was there, including Palmina (A/N: this is what i’m naming claw girl FITE ME) but not the emperor. Was Raine not important enough for them?

“D-D-Do I h-have to b-b-be on c-c-c-cam-mera?” Raine calmly asked Darius. Darius looked a little mad. But also a little loving. His face was weird to read. “For T*tans sake just say something.” he grumbled. Raine gulped at him. Okay witch, you got this.

“Um… I-I am honored to w-w-work with E-Emperor Belos in p-p-preparation f-for the D-D-Day of U-UniBEE.” Their copper cheeks turned pink. “I-I-I m-mean, UniLEE! I mean! Uh!!!!!!1 oh no! T-T-This is going-g-g all w-wrong! GET ME OUTTA HERE!!” Darius looked so mad and said cut the feed, but when he looked back at Raine he couldn’t help but feel bad for them.

~~*Time skip: After the ceremony*~~

Raine sat on the steps of the stage and was very upset. Their sea green orbs welled with tears. They messed up so so badly…

“Hello there Mx Whispers. Now that you have ascended to the position of Head Witch, I wanted to personally congratulate you. You deserve it.” Raine flinched in surprise!! Omt, it’s the emperor!! “You see, I've wanted to speak to you for quite some time, and what a perfect time this is, this time to speak right now.”

“Y-Y-Y-Y-Your E-Emperorship!” they scream and blush so much. Oh no, hopefully that wasn’t a giveaway of their feelings! (A/N: i’m getting tired of writing out all the stammers so just pretend they’re always stammering kay thanx x3) “I screwed up so bad. I wasn't confident at all! I didn't make you proud or happy. I failed. I always fail. I thought I was ready, but now I'm doubting everything.” They couldn’t read the Emperor’s expression but they were sure it was bad. But to their surprise, the Emperor surprisingly opened his arms in a surprising gesture.

“Be not afraid. I did notice your mistakes, but they were endearing and small. I only wish to teach you in ways to correct and better yourself. This is not your failure… but opposite. This is a good time. Now come into my arms, sweet Raine.” Raine runs to him and starts to cry loudly. “You really mean that, Emperor?” they blush a lot. “I just wish that you could have seen something else that I'm planning. Just to make up for the bad ceremony.” The Emperor looks down at their tiny fragile little frame. “A surprise gift? For me, the Emperor? Why, go ahead, o talented one.”

“I was hoping to perform a song for you... I've been practicing really hard because I like-like you. *blushes* It would mean a lot to me if I was able to express my true feelings for you through music. I wrote the lyrics myself.”

“And now I present… the song of my heart~~...”

The Emperor seems moved hearing the song Raine wrote, he smiles and listens. He feels like he's floating in the air. After the song concludes, the Emperor rushes to Raine with excitement, wanting to tell them... something....

“Raine… my beautiful Raine. I love you too. I love you to the moon and back, my sweet, so say it is so!”

“Tis so!”

“Then let us seal this… with a kiss!”

Raine reached up to take off his mask and gasped at the Emperor’s face. His features were chiseled and rugged and sharp; very manly. They lean in for a big kiss-

“Ahem!” Darius cleared his throat and caught their attentions. “Rainey-poo… how could you?”

“They’re not your Rainey-poo,” Emperor Belos growled, his territorial nature overtaking him. “They’re MY Rainey-poo. Don’t worry, you needn’t worry your pretty little head over anything, my bard.”

Darius gave him an angry look, summoning abomination goo all around him in rage. But he put it away when he realized there was no way he could win. He was a beta, and the Emperor was the alpha. “I thought we had something!” He tears up sadly. “But I cannot compete with his Highness.”

The Emperor held Raine close, and Darius let out a sad pathetic whimpering sound. “But… Raine…” he cleared his throat to strike a devilishly handsome pose for them. “My kitten, won’t you come with me?~” Raine shook their head. “No. I feel nothing for you. You know that I love Emperor Belos only. I only have orbs for him, and he is my soulmate. You cannot change that. I'm sorry.” Darius sobs dramatically, flipping his abomination-purple hair around as he sobs.

"Oh no! My makeup! Raine, how could you break my heart so??" He dropped to his knees. "Please, one more chance!" Darius wailed. "My dearest, thou art as beautiful as the summer sun! Thine hair the shade of the boiling sea~! Please! Be mine one and only, thou beautiful creature!"

“No. Even if Emperor Belos was not my soulmate, I still would not be able to love you the way you want me to. It has to be this way. You don't understand how much I love the Emperor. You will just have to accept it and move on”

Darius looked hurt and tore note after note out of his pocket, ripping them all up. All the little heart shaped papers were no more than tatters as he threw them on the ground in his temper tantrum. He stormed away in that angry way Darius always did and Raine shook their head in disappointment. “My Emperor, forgive me, he has always been like this.”

Emperor Belos just smiled. Seeing his smile for the first time ever made Raine’s heart burst forward. “My dear Raine, I want you to know, I'm incredibly lucky to have you by my side.~”

“As am I you… my dearest Belovely~,” Raine sang. The super cute nickname made Belos grin.

And they leaned right back in for that kiss.
