It was a complete mess when Lucas entered the rotting temple. There were no windows of any kind. If there wasn’t a giant hole on the roof, he wouldn’t have been able to see anything. The place itself was cluttered with what was at one-point decorations for what looked like a church along with debris from the roof. As he made his way through the place, he began thinking about how stupid he had been. Lucas had not attended on finding such a discovery when he planned this trip. He is and has always been a zoologist, he had come to the amazon jungle in search of a rare bird that he was told was in this area, but when he saw what he was looking for he had accidentally lost the rest of his team. While he was looking for them, he had found this temple and decided it would be best to stay there until his team found him.
“God. Look what you got yourself into Lucas.” He said to himself. He had checked his supplies. He had brought with him a flashlight, a notebook, a giant jug of water, a big bag of trail mix, and a camera filled with pictures of the bird. He was wearing a large red shirt with jeans along with boots.
“Ok I can make this work until they can find me. Let’s see if I can find anything useful in this temple”.

Lucas saw that there was a hole that looked like the entrance to a basement. “I don’t know if I should go down there or not but it’s not like there’s any other options.” He grabbed his flashlight and began to walk down into the hole. The basement itself was surprisingly nice, at least compared to the rest of the temple. The only real issue it has was the amount of dust inside it. There wasn’t much in it except for one thing. A pillar with a box sits at the end of the room. Lucas went towards the box, cautiously taking it off the pillar before heading back upstairs.” huh, I thought something terrible would happen. Not that I’m complaining.” He sat down next to where he put his supplies and started examining the box. Shockingly it was not dusty or worn down like the rest of this place, it was a brown wooden box with what looks like a lock was once on it but had been bashed out of it. He opened the box and inside it was something peculiar. There was a red cube laying inside. He took the cube out of the box; the cube was some kind of Rubik puzzle with what looks like to be some kind of image that would be completed if solved.
“Interesting. I have nothing better to do. Might as well solve it.”

Lucas had spent about two hours trying to solve this puzzle. He was able to get the image mostly complete, it appears to be some kind of bird, probably an eagle. He turned the cube sideways, then the top, and then the top again causing the cube to be completed. Before he could do anything else the cube started floating up in the area and started opening a blue hole on the wall near Lucas dragging him into it. Lucas did not know what to do but screamed as he was flung through what seemed to be a never-ending blue hole before a blinding light came into view and he crashed into some kind of water before blacking out.

He groaned as he began to open his eyes. He looked around and saw that he was in some kind of log cabin filled with fishing and hunting gear scattered around the area. The cabin was just one big room with the kitchen in the left side of the cabin, the living “room” being the middle of the cabin, and Lucas was laying down on the bed. He got up from the bed and started to blush. Whoever brought him into their cabin had left him just his red briefs. He ran to the dresser by the bed and began rummaging through the clothes. He was able to find a gray sweater and pants to put on. The door was locked when Lucas tried it.
“That’s not good. There must be another way out.”
He looked around and saw a window that was just big enough for him to crawl out. He found a hammer on one of the tables and threw it at the window shattering into thousands of pieces. Using one of the chairs in the living room area he jumped onto the window and crawled out, jumping into a grassy field and began running as fast as he could.

There was a town in the distance from the cabin, Lucas started heading toward there hoping he could find someone to help him. He made his way to a farm full of chickens near the edge of the town. There was a person out on the farm feeding the chickens. Lucas yelled at the guy.
“Hey, can you help me? I was locked in some kind of cabin. I have no idea where I am or how I got here.”
The man turned around to look at Lucas and both of them screamed. The man was actually a human sized monkey. Before the monkey could do anything, else Lucas ran away from him into the town, without looking he accidentally ran into another person. He looked up and saw the person he ran into was a gazelle. He screamed once again and away from them. Lucas got to the middle of the town and saw that everyone in there were also animals. There was a fox man walking around with what looked like his child, a group of fish kids were playing, a cheetah was selling fruit in a stand, and there was a hawk sleeping on top of a roof.
“What the hell is going on?” He whispered to himself. Before he could do anything else he was pushed down onto the ground with some kind of fury hand on his head.
“Sorry about this, but we need to take you back. Please don’t be difficult about this. We don’t want to hurt you.” The voice behind the man holding Lucas down.
“Maybe I will if you let me go!” Lucas screamed.
“Alright I promise to let you go if you agree not to run away from us. Ok?” Whoever this man was had a very soft voice, one that seemed like he wasn’t lying to Lucas.
“Alright. I won’t run away again.” Lucas said. He felt the hands on his head and back move away along with whatever person on him get up. Lucas looked up to see that the man that was holding him down was a gray wolf. He was probably about a foot taller than Lucas, had a blue eye and brown eye, he had a lean build and was wearing a black jacket with brown pants. Lucas got up and both of them started walking back towards the cabin.

“What’s your name?” The wolf asked in a polite manner.
“Oh, my name is Lucas.” Lucas said nervously.
“That sounds like a lovely name.” The wolf said with a gentle smile.
“What’s your name then?” Lucas asked, less nervous than before.
“My name is Lupin.” Well, isn’t that ironic. Lucas said in his head.
“Were you the one who found me?” Lucas asked.
“I did. I work as a fisherman and I found you floating in the lake, not wanting to leave you out to die so I took you with me. Though as you can imagine I wasn’t expecting for you to look like. That.” Lupin said.
“Do you know where my original clothes are?” Lucas asked, slightly embarrassed. Lupin began to blush.
“I dried them off while you were passed out. They are with my clean clothes basket. Oh, would you look at that we’re back, why don’t you head back inside and I’m going to go get the elder. He’ll explain what’s happening.”
Seeing that this wolf man was way more embarrassed about this ordeal Lucas decided to listen to him and went back inside the cabin. It took a couple of minutes before Lupin came back with three other people. Two of them were lions, one being way older than the other, while the third man was a red eagle man. The eagle looked older than even the oldest lion.
“Here he is.” Lupin said with exhaustion.
“I thought you were joking about this thing. Why are we keeping this thing with us?” The older lion said, kind of scared.
“We can’t. Whoever this creature is has solved the sacred puzzle.” The eagle spoke. “Who cares about that, we already have 4 of them. As the mayor of this town, I can’t in good conscience let this thing run amok.” The older lion said.
“Doesn’t matter what you think. You know the rules of our world.” The eagle said calmly.
“Who are you people and what are you talking about?” Lucas spoke up.

The eagle sat down on one of the chairs in the kitchen before talking to Lucas.
“Lupin told me your name is Lucas. My name is Adler, I am the village elder. This gentleman is Haider as he said he is the town Mayor, and this young man is Haider’s son Leo.”
Leo waved at Lucas excitedly.
“We are the Zyumen and this place is called Zyuland. To be honest I don’t really know how much we can help you. At least in terms of taking you back to where you came from. But, if you don’t mind me asking, where did you find this?” Adler took out a familiar red Rubik cube from his pocket.
“I found it in a temple in a very big jungle in my world. I lost my group in search of a rare bird species and came across it. I didn’t have anything better to do so I solved the puzzle and then some kind of portal appeared.” Lucas told them.
“I see. Well, the thing is this puzzle you solved is one of five sacred objects from our ancestors. One that we had lost a long time ago.” Adler explained.
“Oh, do you want it back?” Lucas asked.
“No. We couldn’t take it from you even if we wanted to. Once someone solves the puzzle it is theirs until they die.” Adler continued.
“Why?” Lucas asked with a confused look.
“These objects have great power. Power given to use by our creator to fight against any horrible threat to us. And if you solve it, it means that you are worthy of being a powerful warrior known as a power ranger.” Adler told him.
“Is that the reason why I’m here?” Lucas asked, now scared at the prospect of never going home.
“Yes. I’m sorry to put this up on you but would you join us?” Adler said with a pleading voice.
Lucas looked at the four other animals in shock. He couldn’t believe he was in such an odd and terrifying position. The thought of fighting some horrible force of evil wasn’t really appealing but most of them seemed nice. And the fact that they are all animals was also something enticing. He would like to learn more about these Zyumen, how close they are to his world animals that he grew to love with all his heart. They seemed to be human enough and from the looks of the town they were close enough to earth’s modern civilization so it probably wouldn’t be too uncomfortable to live.
“Alright I’ll agree to be a part of your power rangers, If I’m allowed to observe your people.” Lucas said sure of himself.
“What do you mean?” Adler asked in a confused tone.
“Well, I am a zoologist. I study animals for a living, and I would like to know more about you guys.” Lucas told them.
“Ok I think we can work something out with that.” Adler said.
“What?” Screamed Haider.
“I’m not about to let some random creatures stalk the people of our good town! You already crossed a line getting my son into this mess!” Haider continued to say.
“Dad, can you please stop throwing a fit over this?’ Leo begged his dad.
“We can discuss this later Haider. Leo, how about you introduce Lucas to the other three.” Adler said.
“Yeah, I can do that.’ Leo said excitedly. He grabbed Lucas’s arm and began running out of the cabin with him. They ran until a beach was in view along with one of those lifeguard towers. Leo let go of him and made his way to the tower and two people jumped down, one was a shark woman while the other was a vulture man. The shark woman was blue and very muscular like she could crush Lucas without even trying. She had a headband and was wearing one of those swimsuits that looked like dresses. The vulture was skinnier compared to the woman but still buffer than the average man. As for the vulture he had long black hair that covered one of his eyes. He was wearing a skimpy speedo that did not leave much room for the imagination. Leo went up to the shark.
“Hey Sela!” Leo said excitedly.
“Hi Leo. Is this the thing Lupin was talking about?” She had a very nice and calm voice. Like someone who never had reason to yell.
“Yes. His name is Lucas and he’ll be our final member. So, I thought he should say hi to you.” Leo told her.
“Hey.” Lucas said awkwardly.
“Not much of a talker, are you?” The Vulture said. The vulture had a deep but amused voice. Like someone who always takes the chance to have fun in any situation.
“Leave him be Bayek.” The Shark Leo called Sela playfully told him.
“Don’t mind him. My name is Sela, I’m the blue ranger.
“Nice to meet you, Sela. I hope we can get along in this predicament.” Lucas told her.
“I’m sure we will. Though that might be difficult with the other two.” Sela said.
“Why?” Lucas asked.
“The other two are not as chill with strangers. But I’m sure they’ll be fine with you eventually. Hopefully.” Sela told him.

“Oh yeah, Is Amu still at the cafe?” Leo asked Sela.
“I don’t know, I’m not her granddaughter.” Sela said.
“Guess we’ll check out anyway. Come on Lucas.” Leo said. Before Lucas could say anything, Leo grabbed him again and ran out of the beach leaving the two of them behind.
“How do you feel about him, Sela?” Bayek asked.
“He seems cute. I’m sure he’ll be a nice member to the team. I just hope Amu and Tusk won’t be as harsh on him as I think they’ll be.” Sela said.
“Well, If you think he’s cute maybe we should invite him over.” Bayek joked.
“Shut up.” Sela told him before she pushed him. He got up and both of them went back up to the lifeguard tower.

Leo took Lucas to a cafe that was near the center of the town. It was pretty cute; it was themed around flowers. Different types of flowers were planted at the edge of all the windows along with flowers being painted all around the white walls and ceiling. It wasn’t busy, there was a bear couple with their baby eating at a booth by the corner of the cafe, a young-looking goat was working on some kind of paper while drinking what looks like coffee at a table, and then there was a gorilla, gazelle, and a penguin sitting at another table talking about some miscellaneous things. Leo took Lucas to the counter where a female white tiger was standing by the cash register reading some kind of book. She put the book down when she noticed the two of them coming up to her.
“Hey Leo.” The tiger said with a bored tone. She looked at Lucas.
“Is this that thing everyone was screaming about?” She asked.
“Yes Agu. Sorry to bother you but do you know where Amu is?” Leo asked.
“She went to the training grounds in the back of the woods.” She told them with uninterest. Lucas was looking at the menu or at least trying to, but whatever language they have isn’t anything like Lucas as seen. It looked like someone just scratched the pencil into different forms of lines. Lucas always wanted to learn a different language, so it’ll be an interesting thing to study. Before either of them could respond there was a loud bang and screaming coming from outside.
“What was that?” Lucas asked.
“I really hope it isn’t what I think it is.” Leo responded. He started running out of the cafe in the direction of the screams with Lucas following behind him. There was an open field with everyone running away from it. Lucas didn’t see exactly what they were running from until he saw a small blue blob coming out of the ground and grew into a new being. It’s hard to describe exactly what this creature was, but it had a human shape. Most of its body was blue with its chest having what looked like yellow armor, and white hands and feet. The thing that Lucas was looking at the most was its head. It was white and yellow with four tentacle-like things coming out of it with one red eye. Then more of them started appearing, some of them with what was a mix between shield and dual bladed swords. Leo went up and slashed one of the monsters to the ground before stomping on its head exploding it into blue slime. One of the monsters with the weapon starts slashing at him, but he was able to dodge it. He kicked its legs causing it to fall before he pulled out a similar looking yellow puzzle box to the one Lucas has, spinning it causing a giant yellow cube to surround him.
“Beast on.” He yelled. The yellow cube closed itself in Leo putting him in a yellow armor with a lion face on the chest, with white gloves and boots.
“Champion of the savannah yellow lion!” Leo screamed. With lightning striking from the sky killing a few of the monsters including the one he kicked to the ground. Leo then punched another monster in the chest causing it to explode. Then he proceeded to have two big claw-like weapons appear on his hands before slashing down two more of them.
“Wow.” Lucas said, astonished about what he’s seeing.
“Wait a minute.” Lucas said. He pulled out his own puzzle box looking at it.
“That must be the ancient power Adler was talking about? If that's the case I need to help him out.” Lucas pondered. Before he could use his box he saw something unexpected. Two people wearing similar armor to Leo, one was white with a tiger on their chest holding a crossbow while the other one was green with an elephant on his chest holding a giant ax. The one with the crossbow shot down a monster in a big group with the arrow exploding into ice causing all the monsters to freeze before the green one used his ax to slice the frozen monsters with ease. Leo ran up to the two of them putting his arms on their shoulders.
“Hey Tusk and Amu, I was actually looking for you guys. We got a fifth teammate.” Leo said excitedly.
“That’s great but let's discuss this after we get rid of these monstrosities.” the person in the green armor said while taking Leo’s arm off of his shoulder. He had a very tired voice compared to all the animals he met so far, like he hadn’t slept for a while.
“Alright.” Leo said. Leo and the other two warriors continued fighting the monsters. Leo slashed monsters with actual lightning speed while the white warrior was shooting down some of them, and then the green warrior used his ax to slash down on the ground causing a powerful gust of wind to plow through the monsters. Most of the monsters were killed but the remaining monsters escaped before the three of them could kill them. Seeing that the three brought out their cubes and spinned it causing them to lose their armor. Not surprising, the green one was an elephant and the white was a white tiger. The elephant was very tall, even taller than Leo but was not as bulky as he thought an elephant man would be. He was wearing a green suit, something Lucas thought was a bit too nice to be wearing for being a warrior. As for the white tiger she was probably the shortest out of the group along with having gray hair with the white. Her outfit was a white sweater with gray sweatpants.
“Ok, let's see this new member you are so excited about.” The elephant said. The three of them made their way to Lucas. He felt intimidated by the two of them.
“Hey. My name is Lucas.” Was all he said.
“Lucas, Interesting. My name is Tusk and she’s Amu. I hope you know what you’re doing getting involved in this. More of those things have been coming recently and we don’t know where, so we could use the extra help.” Tusk told him.
“Not really but I don’t have any other choice.” Lucas said.
“Is that so? Well If you know how to fight then it should be fine.” Amu said
“Oh. about that.” Lucas said. Amu gave him an annoyed look like he just told the worst joke ever.
“That does not give us any promise now does it.” Amu said annoyed.
“Hey, we can train him. I’m sure he’ll be a fast learner.” Leo said.
“What exactly is your living Lucas?” Tusk asked.
I’m a zoologist. In my home world I study all sorts of animals in order to improve others' understanding of them.”
“Ah. So you’re a man of science. If that is the case I’m sure you can be of great use to our team especially if you did indeed solve that puzzle. Though do try and learn how to fight.” Tusk told him.
“I will.” Lucas said.
“I’m sure Adler can teach him.” Leo said.
“Probably but I personally think we should see more of what this man has to offer before we let him in.” Amu said
“Come on, stop arguing.” Tusk said.
“No I’m fine with doing this, I don’t want any of you to think I don’t have what it takes to do this.” Lucas spoke up.
“Are you sure?” Amu asked.
“Yes.” Lucas said.
“Alright. Met me at the training grounds in the afternoon.” Amu told him before walking away into town. Lucas hoped this would be worth it, though not like he can change his mind now.
“Hey guys sorry I’m late. Wait, did you guys already kill everything?” Sela said as she showed up to the field.
“Well don’t we have a little story for you.” Tusk said to her.

Chapter Text

Somewhere far away from Zyuland is a palace surrounded by darkness; in this palace, a woman is standing patiently in a room. The room itself was very grand, the ground was made out of marble with a black and white checker pattern, the black ceiling had a giant chandelier, with taxidermy animals that her master had hunted himself, and the walls had the heads of other creatures including humanoid beings. At the center of the room was a giant flat-screen TV used to show off the other hunters' adventures for their master’s pleasure and lastly at the back of the room was a giant hole in the wall where their master would appear for whatever was needed of them. As for the woman, she was no ordinary person. Her body was made out of a black armor-like material except for green oval-shaped clusters coming out of her shoulders and on her legs. The area around her mouth was silver with her lips being light green. The rest of her actual head was made out of the same material most of her body was, her “eyes" were two yellow holes that were placed at the top of her head, and lastly, she had those green clusters on her head that were placed on her to act as “hair”. On the floor, a bunch of blue slime appeared and proceeded to grow into the blue monsters.

“Oh good. Here I was thinking we needed to make more of you. Tell me what you learned about these rangers.” The woman said with a pleased tone. The monsters whispered in her ear.
“I see. If this is true, then these rangers will make for an entertaining show for him.” The woman said.
“Did I hear you say an entertaining show?” A voice said behind her. The voice sounded very sophisticated and subdued with a hint of excitement. Like someone had woken him up from a long sleep with a plate full of warm food. She looked back to see her master slithering out of the hole. The upper half of his body was made out of yellow diamonds with silver being placed on his chest and shoulders for an outfit. Unlike from the neck down, almost his entire face was made out of silver with the exception being the back of his head which had a giant spike of yellow diamond. As for the bottom half though, instead of having two legs, he had a giant cord made out of yellow flesh that went all the way into the hole he came out of. It was gross to look at, especially since sometimes it moves around like it had a mind.
“Oh, master Indulge, it’s nice to see that you’re awake. You see I sent a group of Moebas to challenge the strongest warriors of those Zyumen.” She said Zyumen with absolute disgust like the thought of them made her angry.
“And what did you find Maria?” Indulge asked with curiosity.
“It seems we have found worthy prey for our great hunters,” Maria said.
“Oh, you promise this will be fun?” Indulge asked.
“It will be, I'm sure. These Moebas say they are ferocious and strong, even wielding elements like they are nothing.” Maria told him.
“I hope so. I’m getting bored playing around with these second-rate corpses.” Indulge said.
“Should I send Azald?” Maria asked.
“No. Ask him to send one of his hunters.” Indulge told her. She nodded, pulling out a tablet and typing out something before putting the tablet back down. After a couple of seconds, one of the doors opened, and out came two people. One of them was a creature whose entire body was made out of purple cubes of various sizes. The only thing that wasn’t a cube was its mouth that never stayed closed revealing disgusting sharp yellow teeth. For some reason the thing was clothed, wearing a golden tank top that barely fit him because of his cubed body and a pair of big black shorts. The other monster was a black knight with sharp crystals poking out through its armor. It had red eyes with no mouth and at the top of its head had crystals shaped like a crown. The strangest thing about it was the fact that its right arm was replaced with a giant cannon.
“Who is this Azald?” Indulge asked
“This is Jagged. He’s my newest hunter.” The one with the purple cubes said. He had a very raspy and sickly voice like even just moving his mouth hurt him.
“Really? I was hoping to see one of your favorites. They have always been so entertaining. Indulge said disappointed.
“Don’t worry Jagged is a great warrior, and this is a great opportunity for him to prove himself to you,” Azald told him.
“Alright, I'll give him a chance. I hope you're right, otherwise, this jagged fellow might be my new toy.” Indulge said happy with some kind of thought.
“What does he mean by a new toy?” Jagged asked. Jagged had a very young voice compared to the rest of the monsters.
“Don’t fail and you won’t find out. Here take this.” Maria said while handing Jagged a camera. When he took it, the camera fused inside him.
“What is this for?” Jagged asked.
“Master Indulge finds it entertaining to see what his hunters do, so we created these cameras to allow us to see what you see,” Maria told him.
“Oh. Ok.” Jagged said. With that explained Maria pulled out her tablet typing on it before her, Jagged, and the Mobeas disappeared. Indulge then turned on the TV with Azald next to him.

Back at Zyuland.

“Well, that's certainly a predicament. Do you have any idea how you're going to win this?” Sela said.
“Nope,” Lucas said.
“Oh, you’re screwed,” Sela said before Leo hit her on the head.
“C'mon Sela he needs our help,” Leo told her.
“We shouldn’t, he made this choice to prove to us that he’ll make a good member even with his inexperience and I’d rather not hear Amu complain about it,” Tusk said. He grabbed a sword out of a bag and handed it to Lucas.
“Here you’re going to need this,” Tusk told him. Lucas looked at him awkwardly.
“Um, thanks. Where's the training ground Amu was talking about?” Lucas asked.
“I can show you!” Leo said excitedly before grabbing Lucas’s hand and bringing him into the wooded area.

They arrived at a flat clearing deep in the woods. There was nothing of note except for one small cabin near the end of the clearing. Leo brought Lucas to the cabin, and when they got close another person came out of the building. The person was a crocodile on the shorter side, wearing a gray janitor outfit and holding some kind of remote in his left hand.
“Hey, Brutus,” Leo said to the crocodile.
“Hi, Leo. I hope you’re not here to make another mess.” Brutus said.
“That happened one time. Can you stop bringing it up?” Leo said annoyed.
“Considering you destroyed an entire pillar that I had to clean up, I will never let you live it down,” Brutus told him.
“Anyway, what do you guys need?” Brutus asked.
“My friend needs to use the obstacle course,” Leo told him. Brutus looked over at Lucas before giving a loud grunt
“I see. Amu told me about needing to use this place later for someone else, but I was not expecting…. this. “Brutus said while pointing out Lucas. Lucas looked at him with an annoyed look.
“But anyways give me a second to set it up,” Brutus told them. He looked at the remote he was holding and pressed a bunch of buttons. After a couple of seconds, the ground started to shake before a bunch of green cubes popped out of the ground. Then the cubes began combining until all the cubes became one giant cubed building.
“What the hell is this?” Lucas said, surprised.
“What? Do you guys don’t have training courses?” Leo asked.
“We do but we don’t have giant magic cubes for it,” Lucas told him.
“That's interesting,” Leo said.
“So, what is in there?” Lucas asked.
“The usual stuff. Rock walls, slippery surfaces, flamethrowers, stuff like that.” Leo told him.
“Wait, what do you mean flamethrowers?” Lucas asked in a concerned tone.
“Yeah, that's the usual setting for the beginner mode. Is there a problem?” Leo asked.
“Yes. Where I’m from we don’t put flamethrowers in our training.” Lucas told him.
“Oh. That's going to make this more difficult than it already is.” Leo said.
“Can’t you take them out?” Lucas asked.
“Nope. We put it on the easiest setting possible.” Leo told him.
“Great. That's just great.” Lucas said annoyed.
“You could just call this off. You don’t need to prove to Amu that you can be a ranger.” Leo pleaded with him.
“Maybe. But if I’m going to risk my life and fight, I might as well get used to this type of danger.” Lucas said.
“Alright. Go up to the entrance when you’re ready.” Leo told him. Lucas started stretching his arms and legs before taking his sweater off and putting it on the ground. Once he was done with that he headed to the entrance. Leo went up next to him.
“Alright, all you have to do is make it to a room with a small red flag. Where that room is randomized so you’ll have to search every room until you find it. Once you take the flag off the course will teleport you out. Got it?” Leo told him.
“Got it,” Lucas said nervously. Lucas then entered the building leaving Leo outside.

The first room Lucas entered was just a bridge leading into a different room. However, when Lucas got a closer look, he saw that there was some kind of black slippery substance on the bridge. He looked down below the bridge. There seemed to be nothing underneath it as far as Lucas can see. So cautiously Lucas began walking across the bridge, he was about halfway through the bridge when his foot slipped, and he almost fell if it wasn’t for the fact that he grabbed onto one of the ropes holding the bridge together. He was able to pull himself back up without falling and was able to make his way out of the room without issues this time. The next room was filled with five platforms that he needed to jump over to get to the next room. Lucas jumped over the first platform, then the second, then the third, then the fourth, but when he was in the middle of jumping to the fifth platform one of those giant red punching gloves appeared and punched Lucas away from the platform and fell to the void. He felt his body hit the ground, when he opened his eyes, he was outside of the cubed rooms. He got up and saw that Leo was gone. He looked around until he found Brutus.
“Hey, where did Leo go?” Lucas asked.
“There was another attack from those monsters. He went to go fight them with the others.” Brutus said.
“Where is that location?” Lucas asked.
“North by the edge of the woods. Brutus told him as he pointed in a certain direction.
“Thanks,” Lucas said as he ran off in the direction Brutus showed him.

Lucas ran through the woods until he came across Leo and the others. They were already in their ranger suits fighting the monsters, one of the monsters noticed him and tried to attack him with their dual-bladed sword, Lucas noticed the monster and was able to barely dodge the sword from slicing his stomach before he punched the monster in the face causing it to fall on the ground. Lucas pulled out his cube and mimicking what Leo did he spun his cube causing a giant red cube to surround him.
“Beast on!” Lucas shouted as the red cube closed in on him, giving him a red suit of armor with the image of an eagle on the center of his chest.
“Champion of the sky red eagle!” Lucas screamed. Lucas saw that the monster he punched down was getting up, not wasting any time he ran up and kicked the monster in the head so hard the monster's head exploded into blue goo.
“Nice job!” Leo shouted at Lucas. He looked in Leo’s direction to see him giving Lucas a thumbs up from his left hand while he had a monster in a headlock with his right arm before using his left hand to continuously punch the monster in the chest. Next to Leo, he saw a blue warrior with a shark on their chest who Lucas assumed to be Sela. She was wielding a staff and was using it to bash a monster’s head into blue goo. But while she was doing that one of the monsters appeared behind her trying to grab her before a crossbow arrow shot through its chest killing it. Sela looked behind her, seeing the monster’s corpse.
“Thanks, Amu,” Sela said happily.
“Pay attention next time. Please.” Amu said in an annoyed tone. Sela just shrugged as she went back to fighting the monsters. Lucas then saw Tusk throw a monster onto a tree branch implying it. Before Tusk could do anything else a metal whip slapped Tusk into the ground. Lucas ran towards Tusk and helped him up. Both men looked over from where the metal whip appeared, there were two monsters different from the others. The one that was holding the whip seemed to be more feminine while the other one was some kind of black knight.
“So, this is the Power Rangers you were talking about Maria. They don’t look like much.” Jagged said.
“We can change that,” Tusk said while pulling out his green ax and running towards Maria with Lucas going after Jagged. Tusk tried to slash her across her chest, but her metal whip turned into a metal baton and blocked the attack. Maria proceeded to kick Tusk in the knee before using her baton to smack Tusk across the head causing him to fall to the ground. Lucas was not doing any better as he tried to punch Jagged in the head which did nothing to him.
“You call yourself a warrior with attacks like that. Here let me show you.” Jagged told him. Lucas almost gagged as Jagged punched him in the stomach with his regular hand and proceeded to lift him in the air before he threw him towards a tree, hitting it and falling into a mud puddle on the ground. Jagged started stomping Lucas and kicking him all over his body to the point he de-transformed into his regular self. He then put his left foot on top of Lucas’s head when a flash of yellow lightning hit Jagged in the face causing him to fall over. It was Leo. He helped Lucas up off the ground. Hearing this Maria looked over away from Tusk allowing him to run up and slash her across her back with his ax.
“Ah!” Maria screamed. Before Tusk could get another hit, she pulled out her tablet and teleported away along with Jagged.
“Lucas, are you okay?” Tusk asked as he walked over to him while transforming back into his normal body.
“I think so. That monster got me pretty good in the stomach.” Lucas told him. Tusk looked over his body checking for any noticeable injuries while Leo was still holding Lucas up. There was a giant bruise on the center of his stomach.
“It seems all you have is a bruise on your stomach. Luckily for you, the armor is very powerful. Though Leo can you take him to a real doctor just in case? Also, make sure to give him a shirt please Zyuman, or not we can’t have him being indecent." Tusk told them. Leo gave Tusk a nod before he and Lucas started walking towards the town, passing Sela and Amu both in their regular form. Sela gave them a friendly wave while Amu glared at Lucas. Lucas did not feel good about his chances with her and tried to avoid any eye contact as Leo helped him to the town.

Back at the palace.

“So, did I do good?” Jagged asked. As he kneeled in front of Indulge with Azald and Maria next to him. Indulge looked at him for a couple of seconds with an indecisive face.
“You did okay. I enjoyed seeing you bash that red pipsqueak with your foot, do more of that and I’ll let you join.” Indulge told him.
“I will sir.” Jagged said excitedly before Maria teleported him back to Zyuland.
“Are you sure you want him in our group sir?” Azald asked in his raspy pained voice.
“Not really but I want to see how much damage he can do before I play around with him.” Indulge told him in a delightful tone.
“Alright, sir. Do you need me for anything else?” Azald asked.
“Get me another bottle of wine.” Indulge said while throwing Azald an empty bottle. Azald nodded and headed out of the room.
“What about you? Don’t feel like going back?” Indulge asked
“You know I hate that place. Why do you keep sending us there?’ Maria asked
“Because I have never seen things like them before. The way they think, talk, act, and look is perfect for my needs. And besides, I like seeing you angry at something you despise with all of your being. It makes you look so cute.” Indulge said with a smile. Maria glared at him before leaving the room

Back at Zyuland

Leo was able to bring Lucas to the town doctor without any problems. The office, like most of the buildings, was made out of wood. Filled with all sorts of items and equipment for the doctor, along with two beds in the left corner of the building where Leo set Lucas down in one of them, before giving him a basic white t-shirt. The doctor was a plump brown owl about 5 and a half feet tall with large round glasses. He wore pants and a blue shirt with a white doctor's jacket. The doctor spent 20 minutes examining Lucas for any other injuries.
“After a thorough examination, it seems that your friend will be okay. I would recommend staying away from any danger for a couple of days and you’ll be fine.” The owl doctor said.
“Alright. Thank you for your help.” Lucas told him.
“You’re welcome.” The owl doctor said before escorting both Lucas and Leo out of his building. They both walked around the town not knowing what to say when Leo spoke up.
“Hey. Just wanted to say that I’m sorry for what happened earlier.” Leo said awkwardly.
“No, it's fine. I don’t know what I was thinking about going after that guy. I think Amu might be right about me.” Lucas told him.
“Hey don’t say that. I’m sure you can do better.” Leo quickly told him.
“I got kicked out of my armor in like 20 seconds fighting that dude. Do you want somebody like that protecting your people?” Lucas said with disappointment.
“I um-”
“Leave me alone please,” Lucas told him before running away from Leo. Leo tried to catch up with him, but he lost him in a crowd. Lucas walked around the town not knowing what to do. He walked by a two-story building once again made out of wood with a sign attached to the door. He still couldn’t understand what it was saying but underneath the words was a drawing of what looked to be bread. He looked to the left of the door seeing two giant windows with a bunch of food on display. The one closest to him looked like freshly baked bread from earth but with a yellow color, another was a cookie with a charcoal black color and some kind of red fruit mixed in with it, the one that got Lucas’s eye was what looked to be a donut with instead of any icing it looked like they put honey on top of it. He was about to enter inside when he remembered he didn’t have any money with him and even if he did, he doubted these people would expect it.
“Lucas! Lucas, where are you!” Leo screamed. Lucas, hearing this, started running away from the shop and continued to run until he found himself back in the woods. He leaned on one of the trees to try and catch his breath, when he heard something nearby him. He couldn’t exactly make it out, but it sounded like a high-pitched whine. Lucas followed the sound until he found a really big tree about 30 feet tall and in one of the branches at its highest point was a white tiger child.
“Hey! You, okay?” Lucas asked
“No. I wanted to climb up the tree, but I can’t climb down.” The scared child said.
“Alright wait there. Let me help you get down.” Lucas told him. The child nodded as Lucas began climbing up the tree. He took his time climbing, making sure to be careful with which branch he chose to climb on. It took about five minutes for Lucas to make it up to where the tiger kid was. He let the kid climb on his back and when he was holding onto him tightly Lucas started going back down. When Lucas was halfway down, he got hit by something that sent him and the cub falling to the ground. Lucas started standing up when he saw the culprit. It was Jagged. He had used his arm cannon to shoot them down.
“Glad you didn’t make it difficult to find you. Even let me get a free hit on you, how kind.” Jagged said. He then noticed the kid behind Lucas.
“Aw, what a cute cub. I’m sure my master will enjoy having you.” Jagged said. Lucas kept the kid close to him.
“Stay away from him!” Lucas shouted.
“Or what?” Jagged said in an unserious tone. Lucas pulled out his cube. He spun the cube letting him transform into the red ranger.
“Kid, I need you to run away while I deal with this guy,” Lucas told him.
“But what about you?” The kid asked.
“I’ll be fine just go,” Lucas told him. The Tiger kid nodded and started running towards the town. Jagged put out his arm cannon and fired a fireball at Lucas, Lucas was able to dodge it before the fireball hit him. Jagged tried hitting him again with a fireball, Lucas ran behind one of the trees causing the tree to be set on fire.
“You can’t keep running forever! I’ll burn down this entire forest if I have to!” Jagged screamed. Lucas thought about it. He couldn’t keep running but there was no way he could fight him. Then he remembered, the others were able to summon their weapons, maybe he might stand a chance if he could summon one too. He pulled out the cube and started spinning it in different directions hoping for something. Lucas could hear jagged moving in his direction he needed to hurry. Thankfully a large sword appeared that Lucas immediately grabbed. He had no idea what he did to get it, but he was not going to waste it. He waited until Jagged was close to his tree when jumped out and slashed Jagged across his face. Jagged fell to the ground from the pain.
“Ah, you’ll regret that!” He screamed. Lucas, not wanting to waste this opportunity, held up his sword and stabbed Jagged in the chest. Jagged in his angered state shot Lucas with his cannon, sending Lucas flying into a tree. He Looked down to see that his sword had stretched out. No, he looked closer seeing that his sword had turned into a bladed whip.
“Well, that’s interesting,” Lucas said to himself. Jagged had gotten up and was readying his cannon. Lucas decided to try out this whip mode of his sword. He used the whip to extend out and slice Jagged in the chest causing him to miss his shot. Lucas continued slashing Jagged with his sword until Jagged caught the end of it with his regular hand before pulling it with his entire strength causing Lucas to be sent flying.
“I appreciate that you’re putting up a fight but I’m afraid you’re starting to annoy me.” Jagged told him. Jagged was about to kick Lucas when an arrow hit him in the face. He looked behind to see that Leo, Tusk, Sela, and Amu were now there.
“Champion of the forest, green elephant!”
“Champion of the sea, blue shark!”
“Champion of the savannah, yellow lion!”
“Champion of the snow, white tiger!” Jagged angrily tried shooting the four of them with his cannon but all of them dodged it. Amu then fired three arrows at him, he was able to avoid the first one while the other two arrows hit him in his right arm and shoulder causing them to explode into ice freezing his arm. Leo then slashed Jagged in the legs with his bladed claws causing him to fall on his knees. Sela took this opportunity to beat Jagged over the head with her staff. After she was done Tusk ran up and plunged his ax into Jagged’s skull. Tusk pulled the ax out of him causing Jagged to start spazzing out and sparks started popping out all over his body.
“What’s happening to him?” Sela asked
“Get back from him!” Tusk screamed. Just as he said that Jagged’s body exploded into multiple flaming pieces.
“Didn’t know they could do that,” Leo said, confused.
“Just another thing to worry about.” Amu angrily muttered to herself. Leo went to Lucas and helped him up from the ground.
“Thanks for the help guys but how did you guys find me?” Lucas asked.
“Oh, it wasn’t us,” Sela said. Out from the forest came the white tiger boy who ran towards Amu.
“Grandma, this is the guy I was talking about, the one that saved me from that monster!” The boy said in an excited tone.
“I see that. I’m glad that you’re okay.” Amu told him. This was the first time Lucas had seen Amu act so nice. It was kind of off-putting. Amu walked over to Lucas with an embarrassed look.
“I appreciate you saving my grandson. I’m sorry about earlier.” She looked at Tusk who gave her a snide look.
“And you don’t have to do the course if you don’t want to.” Amu continued to say.
“Thanks. Honestly, I would save a grasshopper if I could. And no, you are right. I am terrible at fighting, but I’m not going to let that stop me from trying.” Lucas told them.
“Well, I’ll take that,” Amu said.
“I’m glad that you guys made up, but I need to head out,” Sela told them.
“Wait,” Lucas said.
“What is it?” Leo asked
“Where am I going to live?” Lucas asked.
“You can stay with me,” Tusk said.
“Really?” Lucas asked.
“Sure, it’s the least I can do since we’re now teammates,” Tusk told him.
“Thank you so much,” Lucas said.
“Don’t worry about it. Just follow me and I’ll show you the way.” Tusk said.
