Chapter Text
Inko was always by herself. At school, at her home, and on the rooftops. Although, she enjoyed being on the rooftops. At least a lot more than the other two. It was the only time she felt free. As she let her hair flow through the wind, vigilante costume on, she slowly approached her bedroom window. She has to be quiet while sneaking back in, because not only is she doing illegal vigilante shit, but she's also got a very strict mom. If she found out she was sneaking out, she would definitely be kicked out. That's ignoring her night time activities. Hell, if her mum found out she was doing anything of the sort she would probably turn her in herself. She never really liked her mom. Sure, she was her mom so she obviously loved her in some way, but she figured there was no point considering her mom never gave her the attention back.
As she snuck through the window, she started to take her mask off. She took off her hoodie, her belt and her shoes. After hiding all of the stuff under her bed, she slipped into her pyjamas. She figured she could get at least a couple hours of sleep that night. Sinking into the mattress, she started to fall asleep.
"INKO!" Her mom's berating voice vibrated through the walls. This was why she never had an alarm, her mom would just wake her up anyways. That, and she didn't have a phone. Her mom wouldn't spend that much money on someone like her. She slowly pulled herself from the mattress, already missing the warmth it gave her. After quickly slipping her uniform on, she brushed her hair and put it in a half-up half-down look. Grabbing her bag, she slipped it over her shoulder and ran to the kitchen, getting an apple from the fruit bowl on the dining table. She put her shoes on, then speed-walked down the path to her school. This path was always empty, and quite quick too. She's surprised hardly anyone takes it.
The walk to school was entirely boring. Nothing ever happens on her way to school. She doesn't even have anybody to walk with either. She made it to class without a struggle, and sat down in her seat next to the window. She enjoyed that seat, as she could always stare out at the sakura trees. She hardly even payed attention in class. It's not like she needed to, she was quite smart, and already knew half the stuff they were learning about.
Being interrupted from her daydream, she saw a note being passed to her by the girl next to her. It looked like she had one too, as did most of the people in her class. She took it, and opened the folded paper.
Party at Mika's house, 15th June. Anyone can come, but don't tell any adults! *address*
Hm. She had never been to a party before, why not try? The 15th was really soon, anyways. What's the worst that can happen?
She had to skip patrol tonight, as it was the night of the party. She was actually excited, even if she had no one to go with. She even bought makeup so she could look pretty. Even though she was all dressed up, she kept her hair the same. Half-up half-down was kind of her thing, she couldn't get rid of it that easily!
After reading over the address a hundred times, she was confident she found the place. She knocked, and was quickly let in by someone around her age. Now, this is what she hadn't planned out. What would she do now that she's here?
Quickly, that was decided for her as she was handed a red plastic cup with, what she assumed was, alcohol. She decided she might as well have some. There was no point in just staying sober the whole night, anyway. She wasn't driving, and if she didn't drink she'd probably be the only one sober at the whole party.
Waking up was more of a struggle than it should've been. After finally getting up, she began to get dressed. She put on a black tank top, and some shorts. She decided she'd go out on her skateboard, she wasn't bothered to walk. Once she told her mom she'd be going, she left the building and kicked off on her skateboard. Feeling the breeze reminded her of when she runs across the rooftops. She hoped she hadn't missed anything last night.
As she skated, she saw a boy around her age. He had long, dark black hair. He was quite handsome. It seemed her eyes lingered for too long though, as once she looked away she was heading face first into a park bench. "Ow!" she yelled, falling onto her back.
As she sat up, she noticed the boy she saw walk up to her. 'What could he want?'
"Are you alright?" He asked. His voice is so deep... it's nice...
Okay, she was definitely crushing...
Realising she forgot to reply, she quickly blurted out "Yeah!"
"Are you sure? that looked painful.' He replied, clearly concerned. "No no I'm fine! Please don't worry"
"Okay, be more careful next time." He said as he started to turn around, and she got up on her skateboard. She kicked off, going as fast as she could to get away from that awkward situation.
She got home just before dinner, even if she didn't want to eat it. She just wanted to go patrol, but it was way too early for that. She just had to wait.
Dinner was fine, she just sat at the table in awkward silence with her mom. They never really talked at dinner. What was there to talk about, anyways? How she got a bruise on her knee from falling during a fight? How she once got knocked out in an alley? Nope. No way would she ever tell her of that stuff. And she doesn't think her mom would have anything to talk about either, she doesn't even talk about work. If she really tries, she can probably think of around 2 times when they had fun together. She was like three, though. She doesn't even know why her mom hates her. She just does.
After putting her dishes in the sink, she snuck into her room pretending to get ready for bed. After she waited long enough, she guessed it was safe enough to leave. She got into her outfit consisting of her mask, a hoodie, tracksuit bottoms, her fingerless gloves and lastly her boots. The process of sneaking through her window was like second nature at this point.
She lifted the window up until there was enough space to crawl through, then she climbed onto the edge and jumped down to the fire escape. She climbed up the fire escape to the roof, feeling the familiar wind in her hair again.
There was a scream.
That was her que to leave.
