Chapter Text

SYSTEM HOURS - 18:00

LOCATION- JARILO-VI

The cold wind blew across a plateau of trees and bushes . A cyborg man, dressed in a cowboy esc outfit, stood victorious amongst a group of disposed of IPC agents.

The man opens his mouth to speak,

“Looks like those clock suckers won’t be an issue anymore,” a gust of wind blew against his forehead ,“ those IPC hounds! Shot a hole in my hat! Those darn sons of nice ladys always goin’ n’ shootin’ like smart hounds' ' Boothill ranted to the snow ; he never got along with them “fancy pants' ' anyways.

Silence rests over Jarilo-VI , the sun finally disappears from the horizon leaving the soft glow of Boothill’s gun the only light source except for the warm amber lighting emitting to the east to him.

A sharp noise becomes apparent in contrast to the quiet snowfall.

shiink

Some sparks erupt as a bullet ricochets off of the galaxy ranger.

“Al’ right now which of y’all clock suckers did that?” He waves his revolver around listening out for some sort of life.

Silence is all that is heard.

A sigh leaves the IPC agent's mouth.

To the agent’s dismay Boothill heard that ,and rushed over to point a gun to the agent’s head.

“..WAIT—“ , an IPC agent cried out ; clearly as an act to beg for mercy to make one last desperate plea.

“Found yer’ ~’' He cooed before pulling the trigger.

He wiped off the fresh blood on him and looks into the deeply settled sun.

“Those fudgeheads took a good second to dispose of I ‘spose”

When the galaxy ranger came to Belobog ,earlier for a bounty, it was close to 12:00 system hours .Now the moon was rising and it was 18:00 system hours. The target was already disposed of but the man felt like he could relax for a bit since Jarilo-VI was nicer this time of year. Plus he hadn't had a day off in what felt like months.

A twig snaps.

Snow shakes off of a bush.

“Who’s there!?” The ranger fired a warning shot in the direction of the rustling noise.

No response came.

“..Helloo?” Boothill asked while walking closer to where the bush was.

Yet again no response.

At this point he thought that he was imagining things , because he didn't hear the noise anymore.

The hood of a red coat poked out of the area.

“Gotcha.” The ranger thought as he quietly snuck right next to the mystery person.

“Found yer’~” He exclaimed , scaring the unknown guest.

“Eek!!” A small girl squealed.

“Crud — Lil’ girl are you lost!?” He quickly changed his expression, slowly lowering his gun but not fully.

“P-please.. don’t hurt me!” She pleaded , tears probed her eyes.

By now the ranger was confused ,because 1. Why is a little girl in the snow and 2. When did she get here?

“Oh no darlin’ it’s ok don’t cry, I'm just .. wonderin’ why yer’ out in the cold.” He spoke softly trying not to make a little child cry — this was a futile effort because she started to cry anyways.

He tried his best to console her when she started to cry  — well as best he could! I mean it wasn’t the worst considering he definitely wasn’t known for his compassion galaxy wide.

Her sniffles eased out a little and she was able to speak.

“I’m *sniffle* .. lost..” she admitted in defeat.

“Shirt.” The cowboy mumbled. He had no clue what to do now.

“Do yer’ know the direction of where yer’ folks are?”

“It’s over there,” she pointed to what seemed like a small settlement east of where they currently were.

“Ok missy could Mr.Boothill get yer’ name?” He gestured to himself as he introduced himself.

“Umm.. i-it’s Clara.” She spoke softly, almost like a mumble.

“Ok ready to go?” He finally inspected her first by looking at how she had white hair. He suspects maybe that’s why he didn’t notice her earlier, a red coat , but oddly enough no shoes.

The girl nods in affirmation. As they set off on their journey.

SYSTEM HOURS - 19:27

Sometime along the way Clara had admitted that she was getting tired , but that was no issue for Boothill so he offered to carry her the rest of the way.

As he looked ahead he finally was at the entrance of the settlement.

He could hear mutters and whispering around him but that was no issue he finally decided to ask around if they knew Clara.

“Yout there! HALT!” A tall man shouts as a group of people surrounds the ranger.

“Hello? ,”He slowly tightens his grip around Clara if one thing’s for sure he wasn’t gonna let these sons of nice ladys take her ,“What cha’ need from me?”.

Clara shuffles around in his grasp.

“Give us the girl.. we don’t want any trouble” A blonde haired man states, he’s dressed in armor and carries a guitar case on his back.

“And why,” Boothill pulls out his revolver ready for a standoff ,” should I?” He threatens.

The people step away from him, some in fear and the rest in fear of escalating the situation.

“Look, we don't want trouble, we're here to bring her to her dad!” A significantly shorter lady speaks she has long purple hair , with a red scarf around her necks she has shorts on which is strange for this weather.

“And who might that be?” Boothill questions , the scene is starting to attract more attention.

“Me.” A cold robotic voice breaks through the crowd.

Clara miraculously shuffles awake by the sound of the robot's voice.

“Holy child of Lan..” Boothill raises his gaze to meet a massive robot.

“Mr.Svarog!” Clara giddily says ; she seems to not be scared by the giant robot and practically jumps out of the galaxy ranger’s arms to hug Svarog's leg.

“Sorry for the misunderstanding! Haha..” The ranger nervously chuckles , he thinks he could take the robot in a fight but he’s not fully sure.

“I thank you for returning my daughter even if through unconventional means.” Mr.Savorg’s words emit from his speakers.

“Well I thank yer’ kindly sir!” He takes a bow ; now that the cowboy is 99% sure he isn’t gonna have to fight a robot in front of said robot’s daughter he relaxes.

“I suppose you should receive a reward? What would you like—“

Boothill cuts the robo’s sentence short.

“— I’ll take some good whiskey —  actually Moonshine! Honestly any typa’ drink will do me well” He spudders out.

“Hmm, I suppose they could arrange that for you Mr..”

“— Mr.Boothill!” The ranger smiles a toothy grin.
