Work Text:
For Genos, living in the nearly abandoned area of Z-City basically had one pro and many cons. The positive being the cheap rent, the negative being pretty much everything else.
Still, Genos did not complain about his living conditions. To be housemates with his mentor was a great honor, something that he would not change.
It just made traveling to where you lived all the more enjoyable. However, even living in the more upscale area of Z-City did not exempt you from whenever turmoil comes about.
The recent strife from an underground uprising of vengeful creatures left Z-City powerless. For now, electricity was only given to the privileged and to the government offices as workers scrambled to return power to the rest of the city. This issue was deemed to not require heroic intervention.
You, despite being dutiful when paying your taxes, were now without any heating in your apartment, alone save for the cold you managed to catch. As much as you loved your blanket, there was no way it could keep you warm for however long it would take to fix the power.
Of course, with your robotic boyfriend hearing that you had fallen ill, you nearly jumped out of bed from the shock of seeing him pop out of nowhere, his features frantic and utterly worried. He was almost a blur when you confirmed that you had caught the cold, with him running to and from your apartment, returning with supplies and take-out, checking your temperature each time he arrived and left from your door.
Though, with all the extra blankets he brought back, you could not stop shivering. For Genos, to see you in such a state was not acceptable.
You preferred his way of keeping you warm.
Nestled close against his chest, with his arms wrapped around you so securely, his body emitted a pleasant, soothing warmth. You sighed as you felt his hand gently stroke your hair, his palm resting against your cheek and neck every so often to feel your temperature, though you knew he could easily get a far more accurate reading from his ocular sensors.
There was a comforting silence in the air, broken up by your coughs and the faint whirring of his internal structure.
Sleep was ready to claim you but before you dozed off, you smiled happily towards him as you uttered, "Thank you, Genos. You're the best nurse ever. I love you~"
As time and time again had proven, nothing could prevent his body's temperature from rising upon hearing those words. Still, with a satisfied smile, he brought his lips to your forehead and hummed out,
"And I to you. Please rest well. I will stay by your side until you feel better--and for the days and years to come."
