‘Kelsiphius Reginald Peterson-Saint’
Not really a “well-known” name, but a name that is known. At least, a name known roughly around the city of Bogea.
Bogea isn’t a really well-known city either, being off the east coast of the United States in some random state that isn’t really worth mentioning. It’s known for its excessive rainfall, stupidly cloudy days, honestly horrible schools - and also its absurd crime rate. From drug trafficking, to human trafficking, to - for some reason? - illegal animal trafficking? Which is an actual thing somehow.
But as stated, Bogea isn’t really cared for, because while its crime rates are through the roof, it isn’t all the way up there like some of the cities that have well-known Superheroes - or be(loathed/loved) Vigilantes. But that doesn’t mean that Bogea doesn’t have someone who protects the city while the police do whatever it is they do when they’re supposed to be protecting people.
No, Bogea has her vigilante, Saint.
Bit of an odd name, but it wasn’t like the vigilante chose the name himself! If anything, he would’ve chosen anything else ! Because well having the name you use when you do good things (albeit illegally) be a name that you legally have isn’t very smart! But, again, it wasn’t like he chose it for himself.
This Bogamite vigilante, when he isn’t out at night crime fighting, goes by his legal name, Kelsiphius Reginald Peterson-Saint. Yeah, a mouthful, but it wasn’t like his parents cared a whole bunch - leaving him at the ripe old age of six in front of a church called Peterson-Saints. With no last name, the sisters just opted to give him the last name of their church “Peterson-Saint”. The “Reginald” came from some guy who donated a lot to the church and the sisters thought ‘why not?’ and gave him that guy's name as a middle name.
During the day, Kel (as Kelsiphius is a bit of a mouthful) is just some underpaid junior journalist. He lives in the Jestulch apartments in the Rainfall district of Bogea, eats food that isn’t healthy in the slightest, and averages a very (not) healthy three to five hours of sleep! Honestly, he’s living the life over here!
Kel groans, blinking his eyes as he glares at his blaring alarm clock. Letting out a yawn, he hits his alarm a bit too hard to get it to stop, and now uh…
The alarm is crushed.
Well…
At least it stopped blaring? That’s got to count for something?
Oh yeah, Kel has some powers. But in his unbiased opinion, they aren’t a whole lot - just a lot of buffs to stuff he already has. He’s stronger, faster, superb eyesight, his hearing is enhanced, etc. The one thing that’s sorta unique about his powers (more like enhancements) is that he’s able to emit this sort of purple light with yellow streaks and lights around it from his hands. When he touches someone, he’s able to see into their minds, he’s able to see their guilts, their passions, their lusts, and their greeds - everything that makes them have a semblance of being human.
Needless to say, when little eight year old Kel walked up to the head sister of Peterson-Saints and told her another sister was having sex with the head preacher, it was certainly a way to discover he wasn’t exactly a “normal” kid. The sisters at the church already knew that Kel wasn’t necessarily an unempowered child, as one time when he was a kid and was on one side of the church, he heard the sisters talking about something while they were on the opposite side of it . They’d all just assumed their wayward orphan was just a bit strange.
If only they knew what he could do. They’d probably say he was blessed by God.
Looking at his destroyed alarm clock, Kel can’t help but think he was cursed by the big man. Getting up, he got dressed, grabbed his phone that he forgot to plug in last night, his bag, then headed off. It was around 6:00 a.m.
Let it be known that Kel despises early mornings - both before, and especially after he started being a vigilante. But, it’s the only time he’s able to grab some coffee and talk with one of his best friends, Abigail, or as she’s mostly called, Abs.
Abs herself has some powers, but unlike himself, she isn’t a vigilante. In fact, she just works at some random cafe in their district “Chuckers”. Said cafe is the one they always go to together. They may have met in an absurd way, but hey, if it works it works? Gathering up the courage, as he normally does, Kel sighs, and opens his door - something he has a habit of doing everyday.
But hey! It isn’t like anything could possibly go wrong today, right?
…
Right..?
