Work Text:

Uttara paced through the halls of the saints base belonging to the 3rd division, taking each step carefully before turning around and walking in the opposite direction. She could feel the floor where she had stepped before, her footsteps leaving imprints that tried to damage and warp the floor below.

At 16 years old, Uttara had finally become a saint, as has her best friend, Siela Inei.

Uttara bit her lip at the thought of her best friend, a wave of memories flashing through her mind as she sighed, checking the time before walking around the room once more. She knew the risk she was taking with what she was about to do, but she didn't care, this was something she needed to do.

Slowly, the door slid open.

"Uttara, are you in here?" The gentle voice of Siela filled the room, leaving Uttara with a small smile on her face as she watched her best friend enter the room, closing the door after her. "What did you want to talk about?"

Letting a cough to clear her throat, Uttara smiled as she answered.

"Well, there's something I want to tell you, something I've been wanting to say for a while now." Uttara let out an awkward laugh, holding her own hand as she smiled.

"Oh really? Well, I have something to tell you as well." Uttara's eye lit up. Was this what she thought it was? Her feelings were mutual after all? She grinned to Siela.

"Well go on, you can talk first." She told her, getting a large grin from Siela. Her lips are so beautiful, Uttara thought to herself, she can't believe this was actually happening, she was finally going to be truly happy in her life and will never experience pain again.

"I met someone!"

What?

Uttara could feel her heart begin to break inside her. But it didn't mean anything right? Siela could even be talking about her.

"You have? Who is it?" Siela seemed to smile, but Uttara could barely place a grin on her face anymore.

"His name is Cialin, he's from my old moon base."

At that point, Uttara knew it was over.

Siela never loved her the way Uttara loved her. To Uttara, Siela was her whole world, her universe, her home. A woman with no place to call her home had found it with her best friend. But that had been ripped away, and Siela was creating a new home, without her.

"That's great, that's just, great." Siela grinned. "Well good luck then." Uttara gripped her own clothes, forcing her tears to stay inside herself.

"Thanks, he's so perfect. Oh, what did you want to tell me, by the way?" Uttara started to move away, walking over to the door. She shook her head.

"Oh nothing just, I love you, Siela." Uttara choked back her own spit in order to stop her sobs from escaping. Siela smiled at Uttara.

"I love you too, Uttara, you're like the sister I never had." It would be a lie to say that Uttara's heart hadn't ripped in half for the final time.

With that, Uttara departed from Siela, never seeing the woman she had loved ever again.

In the training room for the fifth division of saints, Soren Inei was walking alongside his student, Tye Loe Madon. He watched as his young student dragged his feet as they walked towards the council room in order to inform Soren's mother on how their mission had gone.

"Do not drag your feet, young Tye Loe, it is not the way of the saints." Tye Loe nodded at his teacher, fixing his feet as he walked alongside him. Looking up at his face, Tye Loe smiled at Soren. Having been taken in by Soren at only a few months old, Tye Loe couldn't imagine his life without Soren caring for him.

"Saint Soren, is your mother going to mad that you took me on a mission without telling her?" Soren chuckled, placing a hand on Tye Loe's light brown hair and gently shaking his head.

"Young Tye Loe, you have three years before you are a saint, even my mother knows that you need to learn through real missions so you are prepared when you graduate." Soren took Tye Loe's hand, holding onto him as they walked together. "Are you excited to see young Mazen again?" Tye Loe nodded.

"We're going to have a sleepover!" Soren chuckled once more, staring down at his student.

"I'll make sure to get some extra blankets then when we get back."

They walk together, slowly making it through the large room which seemed to be never ending.

But from the darkness, a figure stood, watching the two of them as they walked through the room.

The cloaked figure moved through each shadow, slowly making it throughout the room until the figure reached the exit that Soren and Tye was heading to, getting in front of them and holding the dagger up to both of them.

Soren stopped suddenly, placing a hand on Tye Loe in a protective manner. His eyes went wide and he got feel sweat starting to fall down his forehead.

And from his lips, one word came out, one name.

"Uttara?"
