Never again

Summary:

She followed Gregory's instructions perfectly. So why did he decide to abandon her?

Work Text:

It had been a lie from the start.

Cassie stared at the walkie talkie before her, her face was damp from the recent onslaught of tears. How could she have be so stupid? She should've realised something was wrong from the moment 'Gregory' started talking. 6But, no, she had to break into the Pizza Plex and find him. Had to save her friend...

Friends. Were they even friends to begin with? Was everything she been told about him a lie? Cassie didn't know what to believe anymore. When they had met at her birthday party he had been so kind and helpful and they had been friends ever since. She didn't have any friends to begin with.

But now she wasn't so sure. She didn't even know if that was the real Gregory or not. Her Dad has once told her that some people were two faced and that they were hiding their true intentions. She wouldn't be surprised if Gregory was doing the same. He could be a bit of a brat at times. Maybe he was kind when he was around other people but, secretly, he was spiteful behind their backs.

Maybe he hates her.

It wouldn't surprise her if he did. The girls at school loved to gossip about her when they believed she wasn't listening. They called her a weirdo, just because her interest were different from theirs. The boys... Well, boys will be boys.

She had no one. No friends, no acquaintances. No one to cheer her up when she was feeling down. She was alone.

She hates Gregory.

She hates him. Its all his fault. If he wasn't missing in this stupid Pizza Plex she would never have come in the first place.

She hates herself even more.

She hates how easy it was for him to fool her. Hates how he was never truthful with her - they were friends, were they not? Why would he hide the truth from her? She hates how... she had to destroy the only friend who was kind to her.

Roxy.

Cassie sniffled as the memory came back to her. If there was one thing she truly regretted it was what she did to Roxy. She looked so helpless under that forklift. Cassie had wondered if she had done it to herself, she could be a bit... distracted when things weren't going her way. But on closer examination Roxy was missing her eyes so she couldn't have known about the forklift until it was too late.

And yet...

Despite the pain she was in, Roxy remembered.

She remembered the first time they had met. She remembered the day her birthday was on - saying that she was number one, twice. She had asked her if she had booked her birthday party, whilst being oblivious to her situation, and that her friends were going to show up this time. She even asked her if she still like carrot cake.

And that made the decision even harder.

Roxy was her friend, Gregory had wanted her to destroy the wolf animatronic so that he could escape.

She shouldn't have listen to him or his lies.

Gregory was never in the Pizza Plex to begin with. Or, if he was, Cassie never saw him. She should have done a thorough search through the Pizza Plex before following 'Gregory's' instructions. In her defence, time was working against her so she had to find her 'friend' before something bad happened to him. Besides it did sound like ' Gregory's was in distress whenever he was talking to her.

It should have been so simple. Break into the Pizza Plex, follow 'Gregory's' instructions, find him and get out before morning.

...Except, Gregory had lead her to a dead end and he was nowhere to be seen.

Now she was all alone again. She was sitting in a dark room and she didn't know what to do. The walkie-talkie had been mostly forgotten, but Cassie was debating on what to do with it. It brought her nothing but pain, a simple reminder of her past mistakes. She doesn't know why she keeps it by her side. She should throw it away before 'Gregory' starts talking again. It was driving her mad after all. But she doesn't. She keeps it by her side, staring at it absentmindedly. Staring at Roxy's face...

She should get rid of it. She should. She should.

She doesn't.

She just keeps staring at it. Blaming herself, blaming Gregory.

Was she waiting for something to happen? Waiting for Gregory to speak again? For him to say he was sorry, that he didn't mean for this to happen. That it was all a joke and that he was sorry.

A joke...

...Her existence was a joke. No friends, hardly any family members. Her Mother was gone, her Father was too busy - he probably didn't even know she was missing. She hardly knew anything about her family history.

'No.' She chides herself. 'More lies. More lies. Dad does love you. You He maybe busy but he always has time for you.'

Cassie doesn't know what to believe anymore.

"Cassie?"

Cassie blinked. She moved her head from side to side. She could of sworn she head something but...

"Cassie!"

She turned her attention to the walkie-talkie. Slowly, as she didn't dare believe what she had heard, she picks it up and brings it closer to her.

"Gregory? Is that you?" She asks hopefully.

Maybe... Maybe this wasn't a mistake after all...

"Cassie! You have to help!"

Cassie's eye twitched. This again?

"I'm trapped in the Pizza Plex. You have to help me."

"Shut up." Cassie whispered.

Why does this keep happening? He's not even here? Must she keep repeating this forever?

"Roxy's Raceway... There's a room..."

"Shut up." Cassie said again, this time she was louder than she was before.

"Please, Cassie, you have to help me..."

"Shut up! Shut up! SHUT UP!"

She threw the walkie-talkie at the wall.

Cassie tried to calm down but nothing was working. She felt another onslaught of tears coming as she brought her knees up to her chest. She hadn't meant to do that. She... She was just so angry. She had enough of him talking. It was the same words over and over again.

He wasn't even here so why would he need her help in the first place?

This was a waste of time...

...Time? What was time was it? How long has she been sitting here? She needs to get out of here and...

Cassie yawned.

She was getting tired, too tired to she should take a nap and try again later. It was risky but she didn't think anyone would be around in the morning. The Pizza Plex was temporarily shut down after all.

She lies down on the wasn't comfortable but she couldn't see anything else in the room. Cassie stares at the wall as she waits for sleep to over come her.

She wants to put all of this behind her. She wants to go home and have a slice of carrot cake. She wants her Dad, for him to tell her that everything was going to be okay.

He'll come for her in the morning

He has to. He has to...
